suite 36

B’s celebration continued at the Nuggets game. We had quite the entourage…Grandma and Grandpa Meyer, The Hales’, The Loddens, The Rewalts and the Matthews. There were so many kiddos we realized it was easier and much, much more fun to get a suite at the game. It was perfect! Great friends, great family, great food, great seats. Happy Birthday, B! Sorry the Nuggets lost, but it sure was a good time.

Super ready for a good time
I never would have thought to give Gwyneth hot wings, but of course the girl loved them. I like spicy foods, but my parent’s had to pay me to eat spicy food when I was her age.
Auntie Chriss and Jocelyn
Beth and Jen (Beth is B’s cousin. Her family just moved here from Conneticut)

Happy Birthday, B!
Don and Lisa….two of our very favorites.
Annabelle and Kaylee
Reagan and Gwyneth

All the kiddos loved this silly half time show. It really was entertaining, silly but entertaining.

B shares his birthday with Rocky! Rocky came up to our suite and gave all the kids a high five. Preston informed us he would never ever wash that hand again!
Miss Gwyneth giving Rocky a high five. She was all smiles and told me she was so happy she almost peed in her pants.

Birthday Daddy with his girls.

It was a late night and the girls were worn out. When we got home and parked in the garage we tried to get Gwyneth out of her seat but she curled up and said she didn’t want to go in. She looked so cute I had to get the picture, but we did make her go to bed!

baker street

Happy Birthday to my wonderful husband. B requested lunch at Baker Street and the weather cooperated wonderfully so we were able to enjoy lunch out on the patio. B doesn’t really like to make a fuss about his birthday, but luckily I do so I invited a few friends to help him celebrate. He got his shepards pie, a Smithwicks, and Ms. Sheila even baked him some delicious cupcakes. Not a bad start to the day!!
Yum, Yum – Spice cupcakes. Thank you Sheila!!

american idiot

The day before B’s birthday was absolutely gorgeous. It was the perfect day to hang out and enjoy the beautiful Colorado weather. The girls spent the majority of their day on their scooters riding around the block. I have absolutely no complaints!

After a lovely day, B and I went out for a date night to see American Idiot at the Denver Performing Arts Center. The show was ridiculously good! I’m not exactly sure what I expected but it blew me away. I would highly recommend checking it out!

wildlife experience

Gwyneth and I spent the day with B’s cousin Beth and her little girl Molly. We met for lunch at their house and then headed to the Wildlife Experience. Gotta love those membership passes.  We haven’t been down in a while and there is a new exhibit which the girls loved. Our friend Keith works there but we didn’t bug him while we were there….although if he is reading this, or if Jennifer mentions it to him…I wanted to call and ask him to meet us in the Cafe, but since Jennifer is in No Cal, I thought he might have his hands full with work  and their boys and we didn’t want to add to his hectic week.

Friday night our neighborhood hosted a beer tasting. Um, it was no good. Yes, the Lodden’s came down which I loved. And yes, the girls had a blast with their cousins while we snuck off and tasted beer. (and yes, we had a sitter for the girls for the 2 hours of beer tasting….how irresponsible do you think we are??). But, the beer sucked. There were too many IPA’s. I don’t like those. There were a couple Ales. I like those. And then there were a bunch of lagers. Those are just ok. We did enter the raffle and all four of us won hats, keychains, and bottle openers. So, free beer, raffle prizes, and lots of cousin time…..good night.

socks and underwear

We have toys everywhere in this house. I have no idea why.
I went to Costco today and came home with new socks and underwear for the girls.Wow –  they were thrilled! They spent the evening sorting the socks and underwear into piles and playing ‘socks and underwear store’. Christmas and birthday shopping just got a heck of a lot easier…

drop and shop

The Monkey Bizness by our house offers a drop and shop date night on Wednesdays. For $12 per kid, they get 2 hours of play time, 2 slices of pizza, a juice box and a fruit cup. The parents get two hours of uninterrupted shopping or dining out. Win/win for everyone.
The girls were very pleased to see their friends Bella, Lance and Alex at Monkey Biz. We joined their parents  at Cheeky Monk for dinner and a beer tasting. The two hours flew right by and the girls played hard and were worn out!

root down

5280 week = restaurant week in Denver.
Monday was my gals night out and Jen was able to get us in to Root Down for dinner. I’ve been so eager to try this place and it lived up to all my expectations. Delicious! Jen, Tammy, Jami and I shared so many dishes. We had a great variety and my favorites were the gnocchi and the bread pudding.
In addition to a scrumptious meal, I am so so lucky to have these ladies in my life. I was pleasantly stuffed and my side ached from laughing so hard. Now that’s a great evening.

junior kindergarten

Annabelle started school today and was so very excited. She was eager to meet new friends and go to her big girl class. She was so brave and sweet and just a touch nervous. I was so nervous for her — this was a big change! She did great and made friends and got right in the groove on her very first day. So proud of her!

Gwyneth will be attending a pre-kindergarten class at the same school. They don’t have an opening for her until April so she’ll be spending the month of March home with me. Oh my!! I am so excited to have the time with her, but this girl is crazy.

Our first day at home I realized we have a lot in common – we both love to talk. She talks, talks, talks, talks talks.  My embroidery/sewing machine is really loud. I realized Gwyneth was sitting there coloring and talking away and despite the fact I couldn’t hear a word she was saying she talked away with a big old smile on her face. Oh this girl. We are going to have some fun this month….

gourmet cooking class

This was the most entertaining, unique event we’ve hosted at our house. What a blast! We had a local chef come over and lead us in preparing a 3 course meal. We made trout fish tacos, lamb chops and poached pears. It was amazing! The food was beyond delicious and it was such a great crowd. The kids made their own pizzas and by the end of the night we were all stuffed and quite happy.

I made aprons for all the girls.

Food, Friends, and Wine…need I say more?

The Chef demonstrating how to filet a fish

Abe and B taking the fish de-boning very, very seriously.

All the food was delicious, but I think this part was my favorite. Pears poached in red wine, with chocolate ganache and freshly made cinnamon and nutmeg whipped cream. Heaven, truly heaven!
