happy birthday, jayden

The girls have been attending the same daycare/preschool since Annabelle was four months old. We moved about 10 minutes from our old house, which put us 20 minutes from their school. We have been doing the commute for the past year and finally decided it was time to make a move. It was a tough decision and a rather sad day on their last day this Friday. I exchanged emails with all their buddy’s moms and there were lots and lots of hugs as they said their goodbyes.
It was actually quite dramatic as they were leaving on Friday. I had to laugh as they were all hugging and promising to get together for play-dates knowing that we would see everyone at Jaiden’s birthday party the next day! We met up with their friends for the party at Monkey Bizness.
My girls were in such great care and I’m forever grateful for the teachers and families we’ve met through their old school. Truly amazing and wonderful people. I will miss seeing their faces everyday.

laughs

We received free tickets to the Comedy Club for a reunion of Last Comic Standing. I love, love, love seeing stand-up comedy and we were joined by Gus, Missi, Jen, and Jeff. The girls had a sleepover at their grandparent’s house with Ryan and Reagan. Good times all around!

academy awards party

We joined the Silverman’s at the Carlson’s house for an Academy Awards party. It took a bit for our girls to get comfortable with the dogs, but once they found the boys’ playroom and joined in with the other kids they were just fine. Jennifer and Keith made quite the array of appetizers…so many in fact that we had to eat in courses just to make room for all of them on the table. All of the food was absolutely delicious which we accompanied with champagne. I always enjoy watching the Oscars although this year I do believe I saw exactly ONE of the movies nominated. We had a great night of good friends, good food, and mocking Angelina Jolie….what more could I ask for?

pebble beach revisited

We returned to Pebble Beach after 10 years. My sisters and their husbands joined my dad and Melissa and Melissa’s family for a weekend of golfing and spas. BJ and I took one day to go wine tasting together, BJ golfed Pebble Beach and I got two massages and a pedicure. Not too shabby.
Where I spent most of my time…

The view from our room.

We returned home with two Caddy Bears for the girls. They were very excited and we were thrilled to see them!!

valentine’s

I volunteered at the girls’ school party. What a hoot! The kids were all so excited to share their valentine’s. So stinkin’ cute. The kids made little heart shaped pizzas, friendship bracelets, and sugar cookies. I manned the sugar cookie table and didn’t limit the icing….I kinda feel bad about that. Not sure how well they napped after that snack. Oops!

Mr. Andrew handing out his Valentine’s
Annabelle’s turn! (with her crazy-ass headband….she couldn’t keep that thing on right but there was no chance she was going to take it off because it matched her dress)
Gwyneth’s turn!

My oh-so-sassy girl!

Gwyneth’s Valentine’s were attached to a snack pack of goldfish:
Annabelle’s Valentine’s were attached to a snack pack of bubble gum:
We had a super mellow evening at home….B and I have no interest in fighting the crowds on this crazy night. We had a heart shaped pizza and a smore pizza. Yum! I would like to say we’ve done this in years past so it could be called a tradition, but we all know how B feels about calling things traditions….
The girls with their Valentine’s gifts from me and B. Nothing says love like a humongous 5 pound lollipop!
It really is a shame my children don’t like getting their pictures taken….

tyler time

The Tyler’s came over for dinner and some much needed fun time. We love them and it had been far too long since we’ve seen them. Of course the girls did their very best to show Miss Sheila how much we’ve missed her….

alice in wonderland

The Heritage Square Children’s theater is AMAZING! This was our first time visiting and I can already hardly  wait to take the girls back for another show. We went to see Alice in Wonderland and the audience was encouraged to participate. They called children up to the stage and at first my ladies were far too shy. I may or  may not have offered a lollipop to anyone who volunteered to go on stage and what do you know….Gwyneth’s little hand popped up and they called her up on the stage. She was the 8 in the deck of cards and so stinkin’ adorable. She was nervous and shy and not thrilled to be near the giant stuffed rabbit, but she did great. I was almost in tears I was laughing so hard.

Gwyneth’s theater debut

Running back to her seat after her performance. She was so proud and was in search of that lollipop she may or may not have been promised.

Miss Annabelle was a bit too shy to participate in the show but definitely wanted her picture taken on the stage afterwards.

Is it just me or does Alice seem to be more from the Goth version than the Disney version????

lizards

Miss Gwyneth and I received tickets to a members sneak preview of the new Lizards and Snake exhibit at the Science Museum. We packed up our lunch and headed downtown. Gwyneth loved the Discovery Zone play area, but let’s just say she was less than thrilled with the creepy crawly critters. She kept a fair distance from the animals, but asked a lot of questions and informed a nice Grandma-type woman that she was not afraid she just thought the snakes were ugly!

I really enjoy my one on one days with  my girls. It’s a special treat and I really get to see their personalities in full bloom. The only draw back is that they are super bossy girls and without their sister around they need someone to boss….so it’s me!! Gwyneth informed me I do not play astronaut properly and that she will need to return with Annabelle. Yikes, and I thought I did a pretty darn good space walk. Oh well.

valentine’s portraits

I haven’t had pictures taken of the girls in a while (although I do have a camera in there face nearly every day). I had some formal shots taken for Valentine’s Day. Nothing fancy, just some new pictures to document how much they have grown and to get the grandparents off my back for some new pictures.
As usual Annabelle was a total ham and ate it all up. Gwyneth is going through a phase where she will only give me a super cheesy, fake smile. Some of those smiles showed up in the portraits but we managed to get a few of her real, cute smile too. Here are a few teasers:
