day 2

We spent 4 days at the hospital recovering from the surgery and delivery. Gwyneth was an angel. She slept 5 hours her first few nights, had a bottle and then went right down again for another 4 hours. We got really lucky! She’s a great sleeper. On her last night she was weighed and she dropped to 6 lbs 5 oz. She is a really good eater too.

Annabelle had a great weekend with her Poppy & Melissa. We were all sad when they had to leave Saturday night. We were relieved they were and Annabelle was in such good hands and they were able to meet Miss G. B took Annabelle home Saturday night and Gwyneth and I spent the last two nights at the hospital together.

gwyneth grace has arrived

Our beautiful daughter, Gwyneth Grace was born at 10:32 a.m. at Boulder Community Hospital. She weighed 6 lbs, 8 oz, and measured 20 inches long. She has a full head of black hair! She was born via c-section and everything went very smoothly. I was shocked by how tiny she is. She is just a sweet little thing and has so much black hair!

B took Annabelle to daycare in the morning and then met me at the hospital. Sarah came over and sat with us prior to the surgery. She was waiting in the recovery room when Gwyneth was born. B held my hand through the surgery and we were so excited when Gwyneth arrived and we heard that first little cry. He stayed with her while they took her stats and we spent about an hour in the recovery room before moving to our room.

We had lots of visitors on our first day in the hospital including a very special visit from Annabelle. She came up to meet her little sister and absolutely adored her! She really wanted get her hands on all that black hair. Poppy & Melissa flew in from St. Louis to stay with Annabelle and meet Gwyneth.

hospital bound

I had a strange feeling when I woke up this morning that it was going to be an interesting day. The prior evening I had felt a little gush and thought perhaps my water had broke. I didn’t have any strong contractions so went about my business and went to bed as normal. I woke up at 4:30 a.m. feeling a bit off and decided to be on the safe side and pack mine and the baby’s bag for the hospital. I worked from home in the morning and then at 11:30 B and I grabbed lunch and headed to Boulder for our appointment. The ultrasound confirmed what we had thought – my water broke! After a short discussion with the doctors they decided it was time for Miss Meyer to arrive and they were not comfortable sending me home for the night. We went straight to labor and delivery from our appointment.

They hooked the baby up to fetal heart monitors and she is not under stress so her arrival is booked via c-section for tomorrow at 9 a.m. Although it is a week earlier than her c-section was origianlly scheduled we are so eager to meet her!

cpk

I was able to leave work a little early today because my group went to the Rockies game. I decided to work from home in the nice A.C. rather than sitting out in the heat. I think it was the wise choice at this point in my pregnancy! After finishing up a few things for work, we picked up Annabelle from school and off to Flatirons to meet Sarah. I have a huge craving for the salads at California Pizza Kitchen. I overinduldged and we had a great time meeting Sarah. Annabelle took a snooze in the car and was a bit worked up when we got home. She had a lot of fun playing the basement and then went to bed with no fuss. B and I are in a Project Runway Pool so we had to tune in to see how our contestants are doing. I have Emily and B has Kelli. The pool is being run by our friends, Curtis & Erica, in Chicago. Such fun – we’ll bet on anything!

Play time
It’s always a riot at the Meyer house She doesn’t look very tired, but it’s time for bed!

baby is close

What a week! B is still in Chicago and I have my hands full with work, Annabelle, and Baby Meyer. I had a busy day at work but met Chriss at the house and we went over to pick up Annabelle from day care early in the afternoon. Annabelle had a great time playing with her Aunt while I finished up a project from home. The 3 of us (well, 4 if you count Baby Meyer) headed to the doctor for my appointment. All is going well and things are progressing smoothly! I’m 3 cm dialated (which is where I was when I checked into the hospital with Annabelle). The doctor said it could be any day now – August 1st at the latest. I’m very antsy to meet our little girl.

After our appointment, Chriss, Annabelle & I met Sarah at Ted’s Montana Grill for dinner. Yum! We got back to our house just in time to give Annabelle a quick bath (to get all the mac & cheese out of her hair) and put her to bed. Sarah and Chriss both went above and beyond to help me out while B was out of town. I had such a nice time with them and I really appreciate all the help! Miss Annabelle is a bit spoiled from all her attention this week. We’re both very excited for B to get home tomorrow night.

just us girls

B left this afternoon for a work trip to Chicago. He’ll be gone until Friday. It’s so crazy, busy for me at work this week, but I was able to get out a little early to pick up Annabelle from school. She was her sweet self even without an afternoon nap and we came home and played hide and seek and then she had her favorite dinner of pineapples, mac & cheese and applesauce for dessert. Sarah came over to stay with us for the night and Annabelle was so excited to see her! She brought me a big salad from CPK for dinner. She’s way too good to us. She spent the night just in case Annabelle’s little sister decided to join us in the middle of the night. 🙂

Woo hoo – toys!
Sweet girl!

37 weeks

We’ve approached the point of weekly doctors appointments. I left work early, stopped by daycare to pick up Annabelle, swung by the house to get B and then we ran up to Boulder to check in on Baby Meyer. We got to the office to find out they had moved up my appointment and that they wouldn’t be able to see me until Monday. After a few tears and working with one of the few office staff that I like they got me in to see the nurse midwife. She was really great and very nice. She measured my belly & I’m measuring right at 37 weeks. I’ve had some random contractions but nothing that says that this baby is coming before August 1st. I’m a little tired and feeling really round. I’m doing well with the gestational diabetes and I’m keeping my blood sugars at good levels.
Annabelle was really good during the appointment and she just wanted to get home and play. She got in her pj’s and played hard with her fun house with her daddy. She thinks its so funny to slam the door in B’s face!

hancock

Sarah joined us for dinner which was Annabelle’s first attempt at spaghetti and turkey meatballs. She loved the bread but wasn’t a big fan of the spaghetti. Sarah was so great to offer to babysit for Miss Annabelle so we could see a movie before the baby’s arrival. They went down to the basement to play and we snuck out the front door. We saw the movie Hancock with Will Smith. It was entertaining but a little cheesey. It was really nice for BJ and I have some time out just the two of us. When we got home Sarah said that Annabelle played really well and when she was ready for bed she just crawled to the bottom of the stairs and put her arms up to be carried up to bed. She grabbed her bear and hit the hay with no fussing. Phew! We are so lucky to have such a great friend and babysitter so close!

1 year pictures

We’ve finally reached the one year mark and the monthly visits to the photo studio have come to an end. We’re going to take a little break until Annabelle’s little sister arrives – which is just around the corner.

Annabelle has changed so much – she has become quite the little blondie and her hair has gotten so long! She is looking less and less like a baby and more and more like a little girl. 12 months has been such a fun age for us with Annabelle. She is so curious and really enjoys life! She is full of smiles and just bring us so much joy! We are so excited to be expanding our family. I know having two will be a lot of work, but I am really looking forward to seeing the girls interact.

happy birthday, don

After dinner with Poppy & Melissa, we decided to swing by Don & Jess’ to see if his b-day festivities were still going on. It was only about 8:00 – what has happened to us that we were worried the party might be over by 8:00??? How things have changed! The party was still kickin’ so we stopped in to wish the old man a happy birthday. Annabelle was wide awake so we ended up staying until about 10:00. We’re glad we could celebrate for a bit with them!
