Miss Gwyneth looking so cute after a bath

doctor visit
Annabelle and YaYa spent the afternoon together, including a stop at Grandma Meyer’s. YaYa got Annabelle down for a 3 hour nap and while both the girls slept, YaYa and I relaxed and watched a few episodes of John and Kate plus 8. That show makes me really appreciate the two and only TWO children I have!
molly brown
Today was Auntie Becky & Madison’s last day in Colorado. They took Annabelle to the Molly Brown house which they found out was not stroller friendly and not air-conditioned. Poor Auntie Becky had to carry Annabelle around the house and fan her. It was over 100 degrees outside. Madison really liked the history though – she had been on a Titanic tour when she went to visit Auntie Stacy last year.
Once Annabelle went down for the night I was out too. B even took the 10:00 feeding for Gwyneth so I could get a little extra sleep. Becky & Madison went to see Mama Mia and I didn’t even hear them come in.
family

On Sunday we had B’s family and Sarah and her family over for a cook-out. It was a nice opportunity for everyone to visit while my mom, Becky & Madison were in town. My mom made the side dishes, B manned the grill, and Sarah’s family brought the desserts. It was the first time we had anyone over since we brought Gwyneth home. Annabelle and Madison enjoyed playing with all the Meyer cousins and Gwyneth was held by everyone!
tripp lite blanket
The folks from Tripp Lite, B’s company, sent Gwyneth a blanket with her name and birthday. It’s adorable! Annabelle and Gwyneth each have their own. Annabelle’s has a moon and stars and Gwyneth’s has a rocking horse.
newborn screen
One of Gwyneth’s newborn screens from the hospital came back with some unsettling results so they asked us to bring her back in to the doctor’s office to have it rerun. The test is for a genetic disorder where the baby cannot metabolize biotocin. It’s very uncommon and the doctors sees quite a few false positives. Gwyneth’s doctor told us not to worry because if Gwyneth does have the disorder she would just need a daily vitamin supplement. We’re keeping optimistic that it’s just a false positive and we’ll know for sure in about 5 days.
1 week
Gwyneth is 1 week old today. It’s hard to believe she wasn’t even supposed to arrive until today. She is a such a peanut. She was awake a little more today but she mostly just sleeps and eats. B and I still fight over who gets to hold her and now that Auntie Becky, Madison & YaYa are here there are a few more people we have to share with! The little girls played in the basement in the morning and all the girls took a trip to Babies R Us to stock up on some necessities. Auntie Becky introduced Annabelle to Sesame Street in the afternoon and she danced and danced. B and my mom grilled steaks and put together a very nice dinner for us. After dinner the girls all got baths and YaYa took Annabelle and Madison to the park. It was a relaxing day – although poor Becky’s allergies are flaring up. I’m starting to feel a lot better and I’m hoping to get back to my old self in no time. I did finally have half a Fat Tire which was oh so good!!
auntie becky and madison
Auntie Becky and Madison flew in late Thursday night. Their flight was slightly delayed and didn’t get to our house until right before midnight. We were all tired, Gwyneth and Annabelle were sound asleep. That didn’t stop Auntie Becky from swooping in and picking up Gwyneth. Luckily she didn’t wake up! Madison took a turn holding her new cousin and she wasn’t great about sharing her with her mom. They are both baby hogs. Annabelle slept through it all and will be so excited to see them tomorrow morning.
homecoming
We were very excited to get our new little girl home. My doctor came by to see me early in the morning. She gave me the approval to check-out. Gwyneth’s on-call doctor came by to see her and said she looked great. B took Annabelle to daycare in the morning and then came up to the hospital to pick us up. We got Gwyneth dressed in her new ladybug outfit from YaYa and then took her down to the car for her first car ride. B wouldn’t take the highway home so we had to ride all the way home on side roads – playing it safe with his new little girl.
We had a great experience at the Boulder Community hospital and all the nurses treated us so well.
