walking

  • Gwyneth and I went to visit with Sarah & Mary Ann at Sarah’s place in Boulder. She got a little fussy but was sound asleep before we drove off Sarah’s street.
  • B and I took both girls out for dinner for the first time. We went to Old Santa Fe for some Mexican food. Gwyneth slept right through the meal and Annabelle ate way too many refried beans!!
  • I found out today that my roommate from college, Cindy, is expecting a baby girl in December! She lives in Golden so I can’t wait for us to get our girls together.
GG relaxin’ – she loves to be swaddled
Our little donut tycoon!
Annabelle can now walk the walk!

tough

Phew – the Meyer girls gave us a tough time last night. Miss G was up every 2 1/2 hours to eat and Annabelle was up 4 times! Annabelle is a really good sleeper – always has been – so we were shocked. I think we were getting ahead of ourselves and starting to think this was too easy. Our girls put us in our place.

Jennifer, Keith, and Jack came over to meet Gwyneth and for the kiddos to play together. It was great to see them and to hear about Jack’s 1st birthday celebration a few weeks ago in Florida.

B and both girls got in a good nap and then Grandma and Grandpa Bob came over for dinner and to spend the evening with the girls.

3 weeks

Gwyneth is 3 weeks old today. She is doing so much better now that she is on a new formula and taking drops for her acid reflux. She is sleeping well (she gave us 5 1/2 hours last night!) and eating well.

During the day I braved the rain (yuck!) and went to meet Zach Bickford at the hospital. What a cutie! Ang & Chad are both doing well and Kylie is getting use to the idea of having a little brother.

Jess & Don were planning on coming over to hang out with us tonight and see Miss Gwyneth but unfortunatey Andrew got sick so we had to postpone. We had a quiet night of just our little family. Annabelle really wanted to hold Gwyneth so we let her give it a try. She also spent her night WALKING! She’s getting the hang of it and can really get going now.

treats

Mary Ann and Stephanie stopped by to visit and to bring us dinner. They brought us so much food. We will be feasting on chicken burritos, baked ziti, and lemon squares! We’re set for a week. It was so generous of them to think of us and to bring us so many meals. We can’t wait to dig in. Stephanie is heading back to Kansas tomorrow for school so we’re glad we got to see her before she heads out.
Grandpa Meyer was in our neighborhood so he stopped by to visit with Gwyneth and to drop off some peaches and wine.
Gwyneth got some much needed relief from her acid reflux. We have switched her formula to a more gentle formula and put her on some drops for the gas. She is a new baby!

welcome, zachary

Ang, Chad, and big sister, Kylie welcomed Zachary this morning at 7:53 a.m via scheduled c-section. He weighed 7 lbs 13 oz and measured 20 1/4 inches. Imagine their suprise when Zachary arrived since the ultrasound technician told them they were having a girl! Everyone is healthy and happy. Congrats to them!

sweet

Gwyneth got a much needed bath – no more greasy hair! Annabelle ate a ton for dinner and played hard. She has so much fun walking between her dad and I. She stands so well on her own and is walking great. Sarah came by to visit us and brought us banana and poppy seed bread. So good! Annabelle had several pieces after dinner. I’m glad we were able to see Sarah before she took off for San Fran this weekend. That gal is a travelin’ fool this summer.

swing vote

After lunch at Schlotsky’s, YaYa’s favorite, B took on the challenge of watching both girls by himself & YaYa and I went to a movie. We saw Swing Vote with Kevin Costner. I really enjoyed it. A lot of people in the theatre grumbled over the ending but I thought it was perfect.

2 weeks

Gwyneth had her two week appointment today and was given a clean bill of health. Her results came back from the newborn screen and she is perfect. It was just a false positive on the biotocin screening. She weighs 7 lbs 5 oz and is in the 25th percentile. She’s right on track for weight gain and her head is still in the 10th percentile, which is the same as her sister’s. They have little peanut heads! Her doctor said she looked perfect and was doing great. We’re supposed to keep her in for a while longer since she would struggle with the heat still and we should limit how many people hold her for a few more weeks. She’s such a gift to our little family!
YaYa and I spent the afternoon working on crafty projects for Gwyneth’s bedroom. I started a personalized door hanger and YaYa painted a shelf and letters to spell out her name over her crib. Both girls got in good naps and were in great moods when they woke up.
YaYa watched the girls so B and I could go out for dinner just the two of us. We went to Sushi Tora in Boulder (http://sushitora.net/). I stuffed myself with tuna – which was off limits while I was pregnant. So worth the wait! It was great to have the time out with B also. We do it so rarely – we need to make that time for ourselves more often. After dinner we came home to a quiet house – Annabelle was in bed and YaYa was holding a sleeping Gwyneth. We watched the opening ceremonies for the Olympics and made it to the US before we all crashed for the night!

sleep? what’s that?

For some reason Miss G couldn’t get comfy and was up from about 12:30 – 2:30 a.m. She would be very close to falling asleep, would get startled, and then just start screaming. B and I each took a turn trying to console her but she wasn’t having it. She finally drifted off to sleep at 2:30 a.m. and then both her and Annabelle slept in until 7:30 a.m. At least we got a little sleep relief in the morning.

Imagine B’s surprise when he woke up at 7:30 a.m. and realized he had to be at the dentist by 8:00. We don’t use an alarm clock anymore because we have babies to wake us so we never anticipate sleeping in. The good news is that he made his appointment and they took off his braces. No more brace face! 🙂 His teeth look great and he swears he learned his lesson from the 1st time around and will wear his retainer.
