Sleep!

Gwyneth gave me quite the scare last night. She ate at 9:30, played for about a half an hour and then went down for the night. B and I followed shortly after. I woke up startled at 4:30 because I hadn’t heard her all night. I went in to check on her and she was sound asleep still. She didn’t wake up until 5:45! I got a full-night sleep out of her at 6 weeks. I know it may be too good to be true and it could just be a one-night thing but how nice!!

Fun Start to September

  • For lunch on Friday, B introduced Gwyneth and I to La Fugota. I had a chili relleno and I’m hooked! So good.
  • Saturday afternoon we had lunch with Susan, Burton and Preston at Wazee Supper Club. It was great to see them and I’m glad they were able to meet Gwyneth. She slept all through lunch and Annabelle ate so well. She went to town on pizza and breadsticks!
  • Saturday evening Gus and Amy came over for dinner and we asked Gus to be GG’s Godfather. Gus travels so much this was the first he got to see Gwyneth but we hope we’ll see him more often now that football season has started. 🙂
  • Sunday morning we met Sarah and Mary Ann at the Southside Walnut Cafe for breakfast. So good! GG slept through breakfast and Annabelle enjoyed a heart helping of coffee cafe, fruit and yogurt. When she’s hungry look out!
  • We spent the afternoon at the zoo, where once again GG slept. Annabelle really liked the elephants, giraffes, and couldn’t stop pointing at a peacock that was just wandering around. She seems more and more into the zoo experience each time we go.
  • We ended the weekend with dinner at Grandma and Grandpa Meyer’s house. GG was a bit fussy which I think was from sleeping so much in her car seat that day. Annabelle played with all the little people and had fun showing off her walking skills for her grandparents.

back to the dr

Miss Gwyneth was back at the doctor today. She weighs 9 lbs 8 oz which puts her in the 50th percentile. She is much happier on her new formula (the 3rd one we’ve tried!) but she has some bad news diapers. She is also eating quite often which the doctor thinks may be because of her reflux. She is mistaking the acid pains for hunger pains. We are starting her on prilosec to see if we can help out her little belly.

B went to meet Brandon for happy hour so it was just me and the girls tonight. Luckily Sarah came over to join us for dinner and stayed through bathtime and the RNC speeches. Neither of us were impressed with Palin’s speech. Thanks so much to Sarah for all the help with the girls.

Breckenridge with Poppy & Melissa

We had a great weekend in Breckenridge with Poppy & Melissa.
  • We drove up Thursday night and stopped for dinner at Tommy Knockers in Idaho Springs.
  • Friday we drove to Buena Vista for lunch. The town isn’t much but the drive was really pretty.
  • Poppy & Melissa arrived Friday night and we had dinner at Breckenridge Brewery. They were quite impressed with the amount of food that Annabelle is capable of inhaling these days.
  • Saturday, Melissa, the girls and I shopped at the outlets while the guys golfed at Breckenridge Golf Club. We had a great dinner at Tadeo’s that evening.
  • Sunday, B, the girls and I headed back to our house to give Poppy & Melissa a little peace and quiet during their vacation. We can be a handful these days!
  • Monday, Poppy & Melissa came down for lunch before heading to the airport. We tried Woodlands at the Orchards which turned out to be a great find.

Annabelle is 14 months!

She’s a walkin’, talkin’ big girl now! She has become much more independent and we really enjoy watching her play and trying to figure things out on her own. She really enjoys playing with her baby sister – she always wants to hold her and tickle her. She wanders around the house calling for her “Babba, Babba”. She continues to crack us up with her dancing and she’s such a smiley, happy girl. She does have some normal one year old sass, but she is a big ol’ daddy’s girl and he can usually reel her in. She’s such a little peanut and so blonde!

Gwyneth and I met Sarah for lunch at Gordon Birsch, at Flatirons. It was so good to meet her and to get out of the house. I’ve been feeling a bit cooped up lately. We were going to go shopping afterwards but I realized I forgot Gwyneth’s bottles – once again, no mother of the year award here!
We spent the evening watching the Democratic National Convention. The girls did not seem very entertained by the speeches but we think they’ll thank us for this later. 🙂

Gwyneth is 1 month old

Today is Miss Gwyneth’s 1 month b-day! It’s hard to believe she’s a month old already. We just can’t imagine life without her. She’s so alert these days and is getting on a great schedule. We’re getting a bit more sleep and she’s a much happier baby.

Annabelle has learned to tickle Gwyneth’s feet. She basically runs her finger along the bottom and says “tick, tick, tick” and then Annabelle laughs and laughs. Gwyneth doesn’t really find it funny yet but she doesn’t look terrified when Annabelle tries to play with her so we think this a step in the right direction.

moroney

Molly, Maggie, and Lucy came over to meet Gwyneth this afternoon. They brought us dinner, an adorable dress and “G” knickers for Gwyneth, and the girls were able to play together.
Thanks so much, Molly! Dinner was delicious!

American Presidential Experience

The Democratic National Convention is in Denver this week and we went to visit the exhibit set-up outside Invesco Field. The highlights were:
  • replica of the Oval Office
  • replica of Air Force One
  • wall of presidents with fun facts about each of the presidents
The volunteers were so nice to us and took pity on us for having two babies and asked if we wanted to skip ahead in line. The lines were pretty long so we took them up on it and were able to take the entire tour in about an hour and a half.

4 weeks

Gwyneth is 4 weeks old and does not seem to be losing any of her signature hair. She’s still got a head full! Not too much new to report. She’s eating well, sleeping well and the new formula seems to have relieved the pain in her belly.
