Baby Keith

My cousin, Keith, and his wife welcomed a little boy on 10-10-08 at 7:01 a.m. He weighed 6 lbs and was 17 inches long. My aunt Ginny told us he had an infection, respitory distress, lost too much of his birth weight and body temp regulation difficulties. He was in the NICU for 3 days but is now home and with his twin sisters (who were born just a few months before Annabelle). We’re looking forward to meeting all of them in December when we go out for Maeva’s birthday.

beatles

I took Annabelle to her music class this morning and it was Beatles week! She loved the music…nothing new to her since she hears them quite often at home. She showed off her dance moves by shaking her bootie. She loves the drums and cymbols. Do we have the next Ringo on our hands?

We tried to go to the pumpkin patch but given how nice the weather was everyone else in Boulder County seemed to have the same idea. The line was outrageous to just to park. We decided to scrap the adventure and go another time. Since I’m still on maternity leave it will be much easier to go during the week when it’s less crowded. We were too antsy to sit around the house so we gave Sarah a call and met at Gordon Birsch in Flatirons for dinner. Sarah is a good sport and helped with the girls so we could all take turns eating. B and I love that restaurant! It’s one of our standbys and absolute favorites.

Burn After Reading

Gwyneth and I met Sarah for lunch in Boulder at Mad Greens. I love this restaurant and always love getting out with Sarah. Gwyneth slept through most of the meal and woke up near the end for her lunch. Of course, I adore my girls, and I love that Sarah not only doesn’t make me feel silly for it, she seems to feel the same way! J We chatted about the upcoming election and Sarah’s job opportunities after graduation (which I hope she will eventually find her way back to Colorado!! We’ll really miss her!). Gwyneth ate well and then let out a huge burp that resulted in a massive spit up. She lost it all over the floor! Luckily the people sitting next to us where parents so they weren’t completely horrified. Ah, the joys of parenthood….

Friday night after the girls went to bed, Noelia and I went to see a movie. We saw Burn After Reading with Brad Pitt and George Clooney. It was hilarious…although slightly bizarre. I always seem to pick very random movies when I go with Noelia but we have fun. Our husbands stay home with the kids so we can sneak out – there are 5 kids between us so they have their hands full. We’ll have to return the favor when it warms up again for golf….next year. 😉

Happy Hour with Consuelo & Sarah F

Bring on the Fat Tire! I am clearly joking since I haven’t been out for happy hour in years…well, I’ve been for happy hour but haven’t been able to partake in quite some time. I met up with Consuelo and Sarah F at Goven’rs. I haven’t seen Consuelo in about 6 months and haven’t seen Sarah in about 4 years. I’d say that deserves a happy hour! I had a BLAST! What a treat to meet up with old friends and catch up. They were asking about B and have not met the girls yet. I can’t wait for all of us to get together.

debates

We kept Annabelle home today to get the stomach bug completely out of her system. She woke up in a great mood and seems to be back to normal. It was fun to have the girls home together, especially now that Gwyneth is so mellow.

Sarah came over and watched the Presidential Debates with us after dinner. It has been such a heated election this year. I’m ready for it to be over!

american wife

I’ve had the sad realization that my maternity leave is quickly coming to an end. I’m going to really miss spending my days with Gwyneth. I’ve spent the last two days just holding her and enjoying her smiles and laughs. Our first few weeks were tough, but Gwyneth has become such a good natured, happy little baby girl. She laughs her hardest when I sing to her. Her favorite song is the Janis Joplin hit “Oh lord, won’t you buy Gwyneth a mercedes bens, Annabelle drives porsches, she must make ammends….” She still has a striking head of black hair and beautiful blue eyes. You have to work more for her smiles, but when you get one it’s well worth it!

I have no interest in daytime tv so I’ve been spending GG’s naptimes reading (and doing endless laundry!). I just finished “American Wife” which is VERY loosely based on the life of Laura Bush. I didn’t realize that was the case when I started but I really loved this book. There are huge similarities to the real first family and the first family in the book, but it’s also fiction and the author kept me hooked. I’m hoping to get my bookclub to read this book, because there are so many current issues that would make for interesting conversation.

Gwyneth and I picked Annabelle up from school today and we stood back and watched her play with her friends for a while. She was playing with baby dolls and she has such a maternal nature to her. She wraps them in blankets, rocks them, pats them on their backs, and puts them in their cradles. She played happily until she saw us watching her and then with a huge grin ran for us and we headed home. She seemd out of sorts when we got her home and after a glass of milk and a little yogurt, Poor Miss Annabelle threw up! This was a first – we’ve had our share of spit up at the Meyer house but this was our first actual throw up. I stripped her down and put her in the tub and B got the glam job of cleaning up the mess. It seemed to be just what Annabelle needed though and she instantly felt better. Her teacher at school had told me a stomach bug was going around her class so we’re really hoping it doesn’t get passed around the entire family. We’re keeping an even closer eye on GG. Annabelle had some crackers and water and seemed to feel better before we put her down for the night. She will be staying home with us tomorrow – we’re trying to do our small part to keep the germs from spreading around her class. Wouldn’t it be nice if everyone would do that????

We’ve been Boo-ed!

We received a knock on the door and when we answered the door there was no one there. Much to our suprise there were Halloween treats for Annabelle and a little note that said we had been “Boo-ed” and needed to take treats to two other families. Now we can’t be certain, but B and I both believe this was the work on the Clingman kiddos. We may never know…. 🙂

Poppy & Melissa’s Halloween Package

The girls are ready for the haunting season. Poppy & Melissa sent a package of goodies including these adorable little outfits. They also sent temporary tattoos, which Annabelle loves! Annabelle received 3 pages of Halloween stickers which she is very excited to share with her class.
This afternoon Kelli, Eric, Sophie and Maddie came over to watch the Bronco game. Sophie is going to be 3 next month and Maddie was born in March. Annabelle had so much fun playing with the girls. Miss G just hung out and relaxed and watched football with the guys.

Maeva Grace’s Visit

Stacy, Carl & Maeva came to visit from San Francisco. They were able to meet Gwyneth and she was a little angel all weekend. Annabelle and Maeva had so much fun playing together. They chased each other around the house and Annabelle thought her cousin was hilarious! They even went to music class together on Saturday morning. Maeva loved the bubble song and crawled all around trying to pop the bubbles. It was so wonderful having my sister and her family here. I wish we could see them more often – we’re already planning our trip out to San Francisco for Christmas and Maeva’s 1st birthday. In 2 more months, Gwyneth may able to join in a little more of the fun.

Maeva is here!
Annabelle is eager to introduce Maeva to her sister.

Breakfast time!

The girls share some fruit and yogurt.

It’s not easy getting 3 littles ones to sit still for a picture. They looked so cute in their matching outfits from YaYa.
