Curler Crazed
I was walking through the store the other day and saw the foam curlers and had flashbacks to when YaYa would torture us with them! I remember sleeping in them and hating them. But I also remember loving the curls so I HAD to get them for Annabelle. We gave it a try Saturday morning so she didn’t have to sleep in them and they weren’t in long enough to really get the curls set but she sat there and watched “Elmo” and let me roll up her hair. She thought she looked so funny in the mirror. Maybe we’ll give them a try for real on Easter.
Chinese Night
After our hectic work week, we try and keep our Friday nights laid back and to ourselves. We let the girls play and we order take-out and just enjoy some quiet family time. It’s my favorite night of the week! This week we ordered Chinese, turned on the radio and danced, watched some Elmo (Annabelle’s new favorite), and gave the girls a bath. Perfect!
Annabelle’s “Chubs” face. She originally learned this from Auntie Becky! I can happily report that I finished the Twilight Series and that I will no longer be complaining about it. I didn’t love them, but I’ve read them and can now move on. Phew! I wish I could say the same for American Idol….
Lucky Indeed
Just a few updates
Gwyneth is now 7 months old and is weighing 17 lbs 6 oz. She’s in the 50th percentile and is a great eater. She’s a very happy little girl and such an easy little baby. She saves her smiles for her friends and family but when you’re the recipient you know it’s special and it just melts your heart. She is an adorable little peanut. She rolls everywhere – there is no stopping this girl. She is on the go. She is being transitioned next week to the Infant 2 class at daycare. Our little GG is growing up way too fast but we’re so proud of her.
Annabelle is 20 months old and seems to learn a new word and dance move every day. She has decided that her name is “Apple” and really prefers that to her given name. She can say “Annabelle” but if you ask her what her name is she’ll reply “Apple”. She’s very convincing, because when we drop her off at daycare her littlefriends run up and say “hi, Apple!”. With an Apple and a Gwyneth it seems we have a bit of an obsession with the Paltrow family but that’s really not the case! We are so thrilled to be parents to these sweet little girls. Sometimes it hard to believe how much our lives has changed in just 20 short months.

stupid twilight
I can almost hear the painful gasps that will accompany the reading of this post, but I’m prepared for the backlash….. (Ticey, you should probably avoid reading the second half of this post all together!)
I have created ridiculous commitments for myself which monopolize my personal time and create overwhelming annoyance. First – I am in an “American Idol” pool (yes, you read that right – *sigh*) which requires me to watch the show and then pick who I think will advance/be voted off each week. This is all fine and good because I really do love to bet on just about anything but American Idol sucks now and it’s a 2 hour show! Thank goodness for DVR. I can skim the show and pick off the losers who have to go back to working on the oil rig, waitressing, cleaning toilets, or whatever dream job they will now return to since I have squashed their musical aspirations (I don’t actually call in to vote, but I like to think the power of my negative thoughts plays a little part in the outcome of the show). The only positive side to American Idol is that Annabelle loves to dance and she really gets her groove on when someone good rocks the stage…which sadly for my little dancer it’s not very often.
Moving right along, I NEED to be in the know with anything and everything regarding pop culture. So, I jumped on the bandwagon and started reading the Twilight Series. I knew going in that I’m not interested but it’s all the rage so I gotta do it (how am I ever going to teach my girls to avoid peer pressure???). I was born without that lovey-dovey-mushy gene that most girls have so the love story was totally lost on me AND can you please give me a break with this vampire and werewolf stuff? I know, I know – I brought this on myself. (If I blogged during the Harry Potter era you would have read a very similar post from me then and I rode the H.P. wave until the bitter end).
Point of the story here (thanks for sticking with me) – I get the girls to bed, turn on American Idol and crack open the 3rd book and decide I can take care of both at once. How much attention do I really need to pay to the book or the show? American Idol really stunk it up and I finished the book which actually ended better than I had anticipated (despite all the werewolf/vampire/love story nonsense…oh wait, isn’t that point of the book? *sigh* again).
I venture out at lunch to buy the 4th book (I’m a masochist, what can i say?) and it’s 754 pages! She really couldn’t sum it up for me in like 50 pages – throw me a bone here! Plus, now I’m talkin’ to my girlfriends about going to see the movie. This is Harry Potter all over again for me. I’ll never be free of it. Is there Twilight Rehab? To makes matters worse I check the listings and the results show for American Idol is an hour long tonight. What? It takes an hour to tell these people we’ve crushed their dreams?? I assure you if I was the host, I could send them packing in about 10 minutes and still squeeze in a little dance with Annabelle! Seacrest out!
If you need to find me this evening, I’ll be wasting my limited free time watching the train wreck that is American Idol and reading about vampires – AGAIN! Imagine if I committed this much time to things I enjoy — I might be a pleasant person. But what fun is that?!?! Thank goodness for red wine and my complete lack of willpower.
Saturday Night with the Browns
We spent a fun-filled evening with Gus, Brandon, Kelly Also, and Hannah at Brandon’s neighbor’s house. (Incidently, their neighbor is Kelly Also’s brother!!) It was great to see everyone even though we couldn’t stay very late. Brandon’s parent’s, Shirley and Lewis, stopped by as well. It was the first time they met Gwyneth and they hadn’t seen Annabelle since she was about 3 months old. They were so sweet to the girls. I’m so glad we finally got to see them.
Now that’s a Playroom!
With my return to work looming, I am nearly finished with the girls’ playroom. I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. The girls have a lot of toys but I was able to find a lot of good storage so it doesn’t seem quite as overwhelming. I still need to get drapes and hang up the shelves I painted (with matching daisies…how cute can this room get?!), and hang up the pictures of the Meyer and Paz cousins. I hope to have it all finished by Sunday night so I’m ready to head back to work with the project complete.
When Annabelle walked into her new playroom for the first time she said “WOOOOW” which is a ringing endorsement from a 1 1/2 year old and all a momma can ask for!
Labelled
We find it best to not label the girls at such young ages, but sometimes it feels out of our hands….

Let’s Go Nuggets!
Today was my last day off work and I made the most of it. I went to get a manicure, pedicure and eyebrow wax….I hadn’t planned to get my eyebrow’s waxed but the technician informed me that I NEEDED it. Ouch! A bit rude, but probably true. After my pampering I tried to see the movie “Slumdug Millionaire” but could only make it through the first 15 minutes before I walked out. I thought it was a really really well done movie and it had tremendous potential, but I had such a difficult time watching the young children growing up orphans and the people who took advantage of them. There was a scene with a homeless little baby that pushed me over the edge. I intend on renting the movie and finishing it at some point, but I just couldn’t stomach it today.
Poppy & Melissa gave B tickets to the Nuggets vs Lakers game. Ms. Melissa watched the girls so we could have a Mommy & Daddy night out. It was a great game!! The Nuggets won. Woo hoo.
