Madness of March

The Meyer house is hoppin’ with the excitement of March Madness. B has his bracket, I have my bracket, and we even filled out a bracket for the girls. Just for the record, if they win momma needs a new pair of shoes.

These must be the winning picks! How could such cuties possibly be wrong?
Gwyneth is quite content after her meal of sweet potatoes and turkey. Annabelle never liked the meat baby food and we were thankful because they smell terrible. Gwyneth loves them though so we plug our nose and wait for the big smile reward!
Annabelle loves wearing Daddy’s hats!

Saving the big shocker for last….

Yep, you saw it here first…our GG is up on all fours and has mastered the backwards crawl. It will be no time until she is crawling forward and chasing after her big sister. We thought we were in trouble when she started rolling and army crawling but all bets are off now. We’re practicing up on our frantic calls of “Where did she go???” followed by “Which one???”! It’s sure to be a recurring conversation in the months to come!

blue eye?

I have brown eyes, Daddy & GG have blue eyes and Annabelle has PINK EYE! Yuck, Yuck, Yuck! These girls are just little germ magnets. B kept Annabelle home with him in the morning and they came down and met me for lunch. Annabelle loved being downtown and I loved being able to see her during the day. I took off early so we could spend the afternoon together. Annabelle was all smiles. She even got a little treat – we stopped at McDonalds and got an ice cream. To Miss Annabelle it was just heaven in a cone!

“Nothing comes between me and my ice cream”

I finally took GG over for a bang trim. I knew they had gotten far too long when GG’s daycare teacher said “YaYa is not going to like it if you don’t cut her bangs soon”. How well they know our family!

My punk rock girl can rock a mohawk. If this is what her hair looks like before bed imagine what she looks like in the morning.

It’s Not Easy Being Green

Celebrating GG’s 1st St. Patty’s day! This is old hat for Annabelle since it’s her 2nd and all.

Gwyneth was all decked out in her St. Patty’s garb. She was a big hit at school!
Gotta love those cheeks!

We are starting to see a bit of sibling rivalry around the house now that GG is on the go. Annabelle is not sure about sharing all her toys and books. I hope she gets use to it soon because GG can definitely hold her own! She’s a tough girl and is not going to take any grief from bigger kids – especially not her sister (who only out-weighs her by about 5 lbs!). They got into quite the battle over a bowl of grapes – Annabelle claimed victory by snagging all the grapes but GG seemed pretty happy with the bowl!

Want to know what’s really annoying? When you’re sitting in the car on the way to work at 7:00 a.m. and you have to wait for a steady stream of drunk 20-somethings to cross in the middle of the street and completely hold up morning rush-hour traffic. Yep, there was quite a turnout for kegs and eggs in downtown Denver and I was so annoyed when it messed up my commute. I’m not sure if I was really annoyed because of the crowd or because they were all happy and getting their drink on at 7 am and I was on my way to work with no hope for alcohol (at least before quittin’ time). Ah, to be young, dumb and irresponsible – what a difference 2 years makes in the life of a Meyer!
Brad came over in the evening to have a few Guiness with B and oddly enough I passed. I realized after all the beers were consumed that this was my first opportunity in 2 years to partake in green bar on St. Patty’s day and I passed up the opportunity. Sometime I don’t even recognize myself in the mirror (hanging head and shaking it in such disappointment).

Big Love Hair?

Annabelle was patient enough to sit still (with the help of a bowl of goldfish and “Elmo”) and let me French braid her hair. After it was done I got a little nervous that it might look a bit too “Big Love”. I don’t want my little girl to look like she’s fresh of a polygamist compound! B assured me that without the poofy bangs and the pioneer clothes she just looked like a cute little girl with a braid. Phew!!

Big Girl Hair

New hair style is always a reason to dance

GG is not far behind. Her hair is so long!

"C" is for Cookie

We made St. Patty’s day treats for Annabelle’s daycare class. Annabelle really enjoyed placing the cookies on the cookie sheet, watching them bake and then eating her fresh baked treats. She stole Daddy’s cookie right out of his hand! GG will be able to join in next year.

“Now what starts with the letter “C”?”
“Cookie” starts with “C”!”
“Let’s think of other things that starts with “C”!”

“Uh. . .Uh. . . Who cares about da other things?!”
“”C” is for Cookie that’s good enough for me”

“Oh! cookie, cookie, cookie starts with “C”! “

Meeting Avery & Ryan

I finally got to meet the twins! They are so tiny. Ryan looks just like Andy and Avery looks just like Amy. The babies are up to almost 7 lbs each. Both were very smiley while I was there. Andy & Amy are doing great, although a bit sleep deprived. They are naturals! We can’t wait to get all the kiddos together — although it’s probably best if we give it a few more weeks before unleashing the Meyer girls on these sweet little babies.

First Saturday (Only on the 2nd Saturday this month)

We have a fun-filled night with the Tylers and Fesslers the first Saturday of each month – although this month we had to reschedule to the 2nd Saturday(can’t remember why, anyway…..) We met up at the Fessler’s house and Melissa treated us with a taco feast. The kids all LOVED Cade’s trampoline and the parents enjoyed the margaritas!

Rhys, Cade, and Annabelle
Cade is so sweet with GG. He likes to hug her which is basically him running and throwing himself on top of her! She laughs and laughs!
Jump, Jump, Jump

The boys

These two are like a little married couple. They beat each other up and then kiss and make-up. Oh boy!

New Mexican Night

There is a new restaurant down the street from us called Ristras and they specialize in New Mexican cuisine. Given our college connection we had to check it out. It was tasty and Annabelle must have had an entire order of refried beans and guacamole. I call ‘not it’ on her next diaper.

We played on the “wee wee’s” (swings as Annabelle calls them) at the park by our house and ended the evening with a little Elmo.

GG loves the turtle her godmother gave her.
Off to the park in the wagon.
Annabelle loves the swings!
These girls are worn out!

Boas of Fun

Miss Consuelo’s mom handmade the girls these adorable scarves. They are so cute and GG especially loves playing with hers!

Annabelle has learned to stand on her head!

No, No, No

Conversation with my little toddler today…

Momma: “Did you have a good day at school today?”
Annabelle: “No”
Momma: “Are you ready for dinner?”
Annabelle: “No”
Momma: “Do you want to try some meatloaf?”
Annabelle: “No”
Momma: “Do you think Auntie Becky is funny?”
Annabelle: “No”
Momma: “Is Mr. Gus thin?”
Annabelle: “No”
Momma: “Are you going to be a mean girl to your sister?”
Annabelle: “No”
Momma: “Is Momma fat?”
Annabelle: “YES”
OUCH! Jeez kid, way to ruin a fun game!

Happy Birthday, cousin Lala! We hope you had a great birthday and we’re sorry you were too sick to have a webcall with us. We love you and can’t believe how old you are getting! Feel better soon.
