Bronco Beauties

It’s football Sunday at the Meyer house! The girls are dressed to impress and show their Bronco pride. Ok, Gwyneth Grace is our first real Bronco baby as Annabelle was born in Bears territory. Never fear, we have the NFL ticket this season so there’s no shortage of Broncos or Bears games in our house!

Let’s go Broncos!GG is super proud to be a Colorado native – the only one in our house! Those are the cutest little Bronco fans I’ve ever seen!Annabelle needed to clean a bit before the game. She just can’t relax and enjoy herself with crumbs on the floor. Hmmm… OCD? Touchdown Broncos!
On our way home from the Silverman’s house, we drove past Mile High and it was filling up with fans for the game this week. I pointed out “that’s where the Broncos play football” to Annabelle and she went crazy. She screamed “Go Broncooooooos!” the rest of the way home. I also taught her the “Let Go Broncos” chant and when I got bored of it, she said “Momma, please clap your hands!”. Miss Gwyneth has mastered the “Touchdown” move and says it so well! Makes her dadda very proud. When asked who her favorite football team is, Annabelle responds “Rockies!!!!!”, so we still have our work cut out for us. She does ask her dadda to watch the Rockies games though so B is not completely out of luck with all these girls in the house!

Silverman Baby Fix

Our friend, Andy, had to travel to Germany for work which meant Amy was home with the twins by herself. I figured it was a good opportunity for me to sneak down and get my Silverman baby fix! Avery has moved up to 6 month clothes, so I packed up a box of clothes that Annabelle & Gwyneth have outgrown, grabbed a Papa Murphy’s pizza and asked the girls ‘Who wants to go with me to see the Babies?”. Of course Annabelle practically knocked Gwyneth down trying to get her coat on and get out of the door with me – that girl is baby crazy!

Ryan, Avery and Annabelle
Annabelle was very shy while we were there, but talked about ‘Baby Avery’ and ‘Baby Ryan’ the entire way home. She was very confused that ‘Baby Ben’ wasn’t there too – shouldn’t all the babies be hanging out together???
Now those are some happy babies! They cracked me up.
Once the twins were down for a nap, we went for a ‘Momma and Annabelle’ lunch which was so nice! I really enjoy having one of one time with each of my girls. I asked Annabelle what she wanted for lunch and she said “rice” so we stopped at Panda Express. Unfortunately all she ate was rice and drank an entire container of straight apple juice (we usually dilute it – 3/4 water and 1/4 juice). On the drive home she told me “Apple’s tummy hurts”. Poor girl!

The Greatest Show on Earth

We took the girls to their very first circus and did they ever love it!! We were joined by Chandler and her mom, Leah. Chandler’s family moved and she now goes to a new daycare so the girls no longer get to see each other every day. You can only imagine the delight when these girls saw each other — they kissed and hugged and had each other smiling and laughing all day.

Their initial reactions to the circus were no big surprise; Chandler was spellbound, Annabelle was scared, and Gwyneth thought it was hysterical! Annabelle finally warmed up and the girls danced their way through the show. Gwyneth was laughing and dancing but finally gave in and slept the last 10 minutes. She even slept through them firing a cannon. Our girl was tired from all that dancing!

Dinner with the Rewalts

Auntie Chriss needed her baby fix so the Rewalts joined us for dinner tonight. Who can blame her? We’re all suckers for these girls. I hate feet, let me repeat, I HATE feet and I’m even hooked on GG’s little chubby toes! What’s not to love… We threw in some Papa Murphy’s pizzas and little Miss G sat with her feet crossed like that the entire meal. We apparently don’t have the ‘no shirt, no shoes, no service policy’.

Annabelle sat like a big girl on her bench at the table with her cousins and had a great time! She is over her booster chair and requests, “Apple Meyer’s bench please”.

Jocelyn, Nathan and Annabelle cheesin’ it up for the camera
After dinner, the kids played as we watched the Rockies/Dodgers game. Gwyneth knew it was time for bed so rather than going quietly to her crib she snuggled up with her Auntie Chriss. She’s no dummy – she knew her Auntie would hold her all night. She never wants to snuggle, but it seems she realized its far better the alternataive of going to bed. I guess our girl likes the night life – she certainly likes to booogey!

Nathan and Jocelyn wore our girls out and both went to bed without a peep. The Rewalts hung out for a few more innings of the game. It was a nice, relaxing night and I’m glad they were able to make it up.

Picture Please

I’ve got this girl right where I want her. After finishing Annabelle’s hair for school today, she climbed up on the ottoman and said “Picture please”. How could I refuse?

Pickle Party

Pickles are not just for festivals anymore! We got a huge jug at Costco and GG is in heaven. I’ve never seen a girl eat pickles like this. She loves them! I think B said it best “Your pickle eating days are over. You’ll have to wait until the girls are in bed.” I tried to eat a pickle with Gwyneth last night and when she finished hers she moved right on to mine.

She won’t eat them cut up anymore – she wants the whole darn thing. That’s one pickle crazy baby!

Annabelle took a few bites of pickle and moved on to french onion soup. I thought she’d like the cheese but she ate it all – the onions, broth, cheese and crouton. She loved it all! I think my girls have some peculiar eating habits for toddlers.

Eye Doctor – Check!

Poor B has been having trouble seeing for quite some time and finally took the plunge and went to the eye doctor. He’s been avoiding it because he was certain he was going to need glasses and he was right. He’s a full time four-eyes now! He hates the idea of wearing glasses so he’s already looking into lasik – he’s such a character. His doctor told him he wasn’t a good candidate at this time…perhaps he should wear glasses for 10 minutes before rushing into surgery!

Dentist – Check!
I’ve been suffering from very bad headaches and although I have not a received a good why, one of the issues could be issues with my teeth and gums. I spent 2 1/2 hours at the dentist today getting a deep gum cleaning. Yowsers! I was pretty numbed up and luckily I didn’t have to go into the office in the afternoon because my face was definitely slacking on the left side. Good news is my mouth feels great. Bad news is I have to go back in two weeks for the right side.

DU Study – Check!

B and I have been participating in the University of Denver marriage study for 11 years and we had our yearly appointment tonight. We went in filled out our questionnaires, got videotaped arguing (they ask you a heated question about your marriage and then leave the room and let you go at it – slick!), more questionnaires, and then videotaped having a friendly discussion. The DU folks said they’d be calling us back next year so I guess we’ll take that as a good sign and assume we’re still compatible. Grandma and Grandpa Meyer watched the girls this evening so we could participate and already volunteered to watch them for the study again next year. I think they enjoyed their time together. We only got about 2 miles from their house when we received a frantic phone call from Grandma Meyer that we had forgot Annabelle’s Shmooze. Boy, that would have been a rough night without the bear! Needless to say, we went back for it and Grandma got a big “Oooooh, thank you, Grandma!” from Annabelle.

Pictures of the girls – Check (kinda)!
I have been a bad, bad momma this week and haven’t taken any pictures of the girls. {Insert collective gasp heard ’round the world!} I haven’t posted pics since Sunday and according to YaYa that’s far too long for a YaYa to wait. I gathered up some old photos that hadn’t made the blog and posted them below. I don’t want YaYa going through GG and Annabelle withdrawal!! Gotta keep their YaYa happy! I’ll be much better going forward.

My sweet little GG is now in to everything and is absolutely a kick in the pants. Her vocabulary is expanding daily and she now uses sign language regularly. My favorites are gentle, milk, please, and more.

B now has 3 ladies to fight for the remote…making sweet, sweet “music”. ok, yes we’ll call that music! Now here is my little Annabelle. She is sassy pants! She is talking so well these days and she is sure to let us know what she wants. She is still claiming boss status of the house, but she’s having a bit more trouble keeping GG in line. She’s very organized and likes things her way…I have no idea where she gets that?

She loves reading books and stickers so what on earth could be better than a sticker book?!?! Jennifer gave her a princess sticker book for Easter and it’s a coveted favorite.

All Aboard

We met the Carlson crew for a ride on the real Thomas the Train at the Colorado Train Museum. Annabelle loves trains and was so excited to see Thomas. GG is much more interested in walking than riding so she got a bit antsy on the train trip. They both enjoyed seeing their friends, Jack and Ben, and exploring the museum. They got Thomas tattoos, climbed on the trains, and ate pickles!

The entire train gang – it’s hard to get a shot of everyone together with 3 of the kids now on the go. Baby Ben isn’t far behind!

B and the girls riding the railsGG stood most of the ride and does not believe in safety first. She was not interested in keeping her hands in the car and Annabelle let her know that was not ok. Keith and Ben
The girls were very exited to explore. They were all over the place. Now that GG is walking – we have to play man on man defense. One runs this way, the other runs the other way, but we’re on them! They keep us movin’ and I’m really loving this time.

It’s a rough life for this girl…she wanted to be carried, but her dadda told her she was walkin’ and had to just keep following the tracks. Rough, rough life. He was making “Stand By Me” references which cracked me up but unfortunately it was lost on Annabelle. Look, she wouldn’t even crack a smile for his jokes…..
The museum surprised us by having quite a selection of festival food. The Carlsons shared a funnel cake and there was no question what would please the Meyer gals. PICKLES! Not even one would suffice, each of my babies got their own pickle and polished them off. It’s hard to imagine being more proud…
GG seems to be more of a pickle eater, but now that she’s interested of course Annabelle wants her fair share too.
Annabelle is interested in all kinds of transportation these days – she loves airplanes (well, the idea of them), cars, motorcycles, bikes, trains, and buses. Our young lady got another treat today riding the bus which also had tv’s playing Thomas the train videos. What a day!
We had a quiet night at home and taught the girls the fun game of ring-around-the-rosey. They love it and erupt in belly laughter when we ‘all fall down’. Annabelle requests “ashes to ashes peeeese!” and GG just grabs mine and B’s hands until we find stand up and play. They can play for hours!

Sister Grace

Annabelle has so many nicknames for her sister. The one she came up with today was Sister Grace! What a nut. So now my little Gwyneth answers to GG, Guinness Grace, GG Grace, and Sister Grace to name a few. Unfortunately she doesn’t respond to Gwyneth especially when I’m trying to get her attention when she’s up to no good!

It’s hard to believe GG is 14 months old. I absolutely love this age. She is full of personality and constantly surprises us. She is such a sweet girl and she cracks us up.

When Annabelle is acting up I give her until the count of 3 to shape up or she has to go to time out. So far it has worked really well and I rarely have to continue past 2. So, she stole a baby doll right out of GG’s hands and I said “Annabelle, you have until I count to 3 to give your sister her doll back or it’s time out. One…” and GG said “TWO”! Hilarious. Annabelle was so stunned she immediately dropped the doll back in GG’s lap. GG is quite an effective disciplinarian and a smart little cookie too.

Balloon

It’s really amazing how much fun these girls can have with the simplest things. They loved the duck balloon that was left over from Jess’ shower. They were tugging and rolling around and cracking each other up. Such happy girls and sweet sisters.
