Doors

I see a door and I typically have one of the following thoughts:
1. “Brrrr…it’s chilly, I should close that door.”
2. “I need to go in that room. Lovely, the door is open so I shall pass right through” (yes, that’s how I think – always eloquent.)

When my girls see a door there is just one thought that enters their sweet little heads:
1. “I MUST SLAM THAT DOOR! “

Why? What is the fascination with slamming doors? I understood when they were about 9 months old and they learned how to close them. It was a new fun trick, but the novelty certainly should have worn off by now, right? They use to close the doors so sweetly and would peak around open doors with cute little smiles. Now – SLAM! SLAM! SLAM! I’m terrified of little fingers being smashed, but they just laugh away.
I’m at my wits end with the door slamming. After one slam too many and before I could think rationally I told Annabelle that the next time she slams her door I’m taking it off the hinges. Why would I say that???? It’s inevitable that door will be slammed by days end and I don’t believe in empty threats. Anyone know how to take a door off the hinges? I guess I have to learn fast.

Lil’ Pumpkins

What a week! I have been really fighting this cold and then I spent 2 hours today in the dentist chair. My deep cleaning is now behind me. My mouth is feeling great and I haven’t had a headache since I started this adventure. Let’s hope this does the trick.

B met some friends out for happy hour tonight so I had a quiet night at home with my girls. It’s as it they knew my mouth was killing me because they both managed to squeeze my face tonight. Ouch! When the Jenkins came over on Sunday they brought the girls each a little pumpkin. What a hit! They played with them all night. We even sat down at their table and colored on them. Halloween is going to be so fun this year.

Little pumpkin for my little girls
So serious with their ShmoozesThis is what I get when I ask for a smile…looks kinda fake to me….Gwyneth kept a firm grip on her pumpkin – she wasn’t going to let her big sister swipe it. Our neighbors have a giant blow up pumpkinman in their front yard. Annabelle says “Bye Pumpkin Head” everyday. She thought it would be hilarious to make GG a pumpkin head too! I agreed, but GG wasn’t laughing.
Annabelle was full of jokes tonight. She was pretending the pumpkin was a phone and called her cousin Madison. She had GG cracking up with this one!If the Meyer’s were giants….Miss Gwyneth would have taken that pumpkin to bed with her if I let her. Thankfully her Shmooze Monkey was enough to make her happy.

dancing queen

This evening we watched the Colorado Rockies throw their chance away to advance in the playoffs. It was a terrible game and both B and I were none-too pleased about the outcome. Poor GG cried herself to sleep tonight over the state of baseball in her beloved hometown. Annabelle was so torn about what to do…weep for the Rockies? demand that heads roll? or…..try and forget her sorrows and just dance?!
The answer seemed obvious…
“You are the dancing queen… young and sweet, [not even close to] seventeen…

Dancing queen, feel the beat from the tambourine…

You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life… See that girl, watch that scene, dig in the dancing queen!!!”
If you didn’t know better you would probably think this next photo was just an exhausted, danced-out Annabelle. Nope, she’s tattling on GG (after GG went to bed and couldn’t even defend herself)! She was letting us know that earlier in the evening as we were getting ready for dinner, GG hit her in the head with the door of the cabinet that holds the bibs. I witnessed the entire thing (and yes, GG did give her a good pop in the head), but her Dadda didn’t see and Annabelle needed him to know how she’s being abused by her baby sister. Poor B, so many girls in this house, so much drama….

Weight of the Weather

This weather is just bringing me down! It’s been cold and ugly and we actually got our first snowfall at our house this weekend. We had planned to go to the Children’s Museum and go apple picking on Saturday but we had to scrap both because it was far too cold to take the girls outside. The Rockies were supposed to play in the evening but even the game was postponed.

By 11 am the girls were antsy and needed to get out of the house, but I was starting to drag. B had been sick last week and I was determined to stay healthy. We decided even if it was just for lunch we were getting out. We went to Red Robin (seeing a theme here? we please the girls with this restaurant choice) and then back home for naps. Luckily we have good friends who don’t mind getting out in the cold so we were joined Saturday evening for some college football and the girls were able to play with some friends. We had a pretty full house with The Tylers, The Fesslers, The Lemeks, and The Gus. It was a mad house – all new meaning to Meyer Madness!

I hung in there for football day as we were joined by Kelli, Eric, Sophie and Maddie. Sophie will be 4 next month and Sophie is just 4 months older than Gwyneth. They all played so well together! We all had a great time cheering for the Broncos who managed to pull off a win.
Unfortunately I had to give in and cancel our plans for the rescheduled Rockies game. The Clingmans and Sarah were supposed to join us for the game, but it was far too late and I was feeling pretty terrible. I was hoping a good night sleep would do the trick, but I woke up feeling even worse this morning. I guess this is the official kick off to Colorado winter and all the germs that accompany it! I’m working from home today trying to finish a presentation and really wish I could just curl up in a blanket and watch girlie movies all day.

I didn’t take a lot of pictures this weekend, but managed to capture Gwyneth’s love of purses….

Newest Paz Girl

Welcome to the family, Eliana! My sister, Stacy, welcomed her second daughter today at 3:37 p.m. She weighed in at 7 lbs 7 oz and from what I’ve been told she looks a lot like her big sister, Maeva. Both mom and baby are doing well. I can’t wait to get out to California to meet my newest niece. Annabelle and I will be heading out at the end of the month so hopefully pictures will be forth coming and can hold us over until then.

Annabelle has already learned to say “Baby Eliana” and little Gwyneth said “Ellie” all on her own. We didn’t prompt her! She heard B and I talking about the new baby and she said “Ellie, Ellie, Ellie”! What lucky girls to have so many wonderful cousins!!

More updates to follow as we receive pictures (and a middle name!!!) for Miss Eliana! Congrats Stacy, Carl, and Maeva. We couldn’t be happier for you.
(If you’re keeping score – this is the 8th consecutive Paz girl born into our family and not a single boy! Crazy but I love it!)

Ain’t Bad Being Annabelle

My Annabelle, what can I say about my Annabelle? She’s two, all sass and imagination, and still insists on being referred to as “Apple”. She hears everything, repeats everything, and KNOWS everything — I thought that didn’t happen until the teenager years?

She is such a little momma. Her greatest joys are babies and baby dolls. She is extremely nurturing and loving. She is such a protective big sister and I’m so proud of this little lady. Nobody messes with her GG Grace- NOBODY!

Her favorites songs are her “EFG’s” (known as the ABC’s to most), the Bumblebee song, Knick Knack Paddy Whack, and she sings “Itsy Bitsy Spider” for her sister. She loves to watch Dora which has taught her how to do the Mambo (hilarious – I have to get it on video!). Her recent obsession is baseball and she’s a huge Rockies fan. Makes a dadda proud!

Let me explain these pictures — YaYa bought Annabelle a Precious Moments when she was going through her ‘duck phase’ which has a little girl holding little yellow birds. They were close enough to ducks that they really pleased our girl. Annabelle adores this figurine and I never let her play with it, but tonight she asked if she could sit on the couch and hold it. She climbed right up on the couch and proudly sat there – even giving her “baby with birds” as it’s lovingly referred to a kiss on the head. She loves it so much it had to have dinner with us. Not just dinner, but had to belted in to the booster seat. Oh my sassy girl, with a mind of her own! I couldn’t be more proud.

It’s Good to Be Gwyneth

It’s good being the baby of our brood! “GG Grace” constantly has me, her daddy, and her big sister fussing over her but she doesn’t seem to need the attention. She’s so laid back! She’s such a sweet-natured girl and is talking so much now! After dinner tonight she said “Down, please!” – clear as day! What the heck??? How did my baby grow up so fast?

She loves to dance and is super cuddly! She unexpectedly climbs into my lap and gives me big hugs and kisses. She has perfect Paz cheeks and Meyer pouty lips. Her eyes are changing colors and she seems to be losing her baby blues. The color varies from a deep blue to a light green depending on what she’s wearing. I know she’s growing up, but she’ll always be “Baby GG” to me!

Building a Fort

The girls were so very well behaved for our dinner tonight with Sarah and Mary Ann. We met at Rock Bottom and the girls spent most of the meal chowing down and coloring. They were rewarded after dinner with home made cookies from Sarah! They got a bit antsy near the end but overall I’m going to give them a big thumbs up for the meal.

We got home and got them right in their pj’s. They were both a bit wound up and Gwyneth was in a very ‘dancey’ mood. The little bear on her stroller plays music when you bump it – you can see below GG knows just how to get the music started and has found her dancin’ groove. She really gets her head bobbin’…

Annabelle wanted to get in on the fun too and Gwyneth non too pleased about that. She has learned to say “mine” and let Annabelle know she would not be giving up her stroller easily. Hmmmm…it appears GG has convinced her sister to stick with her Shmooze bear and leave the strolling to her! “Victory is mine!!!”
Poor B has been fighting a cold and just wanted to sit on the couch and relax this evening. Of course, the girls always want to be near their dadda so they climbed up on the couch to keep him company! They didn’t sit for long and took off with his blanket. This developed into a very fun game of peek-a-boo.
“Peak-A-Boo!”Both girls wanted to get in on the peak-a-boo fun.

Then B came up with the brilliant idea of building a fort. My goodness, these girls thought this was the best idea ever!!! Annabelle loved it and was in and out the rest the night. Gwyneth was a little apprehensive to go in alone, but had fun when Annabelle was in there with her. I have a feeling there will be lots of “forts” in our future.
Annabelle would get mad because GG would stand up in the fort, but her little head popping up under the covers cracked me up!!Annabelle requested a pillow so she could go “night, night” in her fort. The fort rules!

Gwyneth needs a new pair of shoes

I’m a big fan of the Robeez but it was time for Gwyneth to get some sturdy walking shoes for playing outside at daycare. B was not feeling well, so I packed up the girls and we headed to REI. I rolled in with my big ol’ double stroller and Annabelle helped me pick out the cutest little pair of shoes for Gwyneth. They just scream Colorado – and GG rocks them!

Now tell me, does it get much cuter than these shoes???
Not one to be left out, Annabelle lined her shoes up for a picture too!

The pile of shoes quickly started multiplying.

I’ll miss this time in my life – the shoes, the clothes, the girls are all so sweet and little.

No Limit to the Ladybugs

If you know me, you know I have a thing for ladybugs. It’s an odd fixation because I’m not a girlie girl, I hate bugs, and I’m a grown woman! Gwyneth’s nursery is decorated in ladybugs, her first birthday was a ladybug theme, she is often dressed in ladybug outfits, and all ladybugs toys and books are welcomed. Honestly, I had no interest in ladybugs until Gwyneth was born so the fixation has developed from me forcing it on her.

My latest ladybug find was this fab wine. I know ladybugs are Gwyneth’s thing but this was a bit inappropriate for a one year old and heaven knows we can’t keep a bottle of wine in our house for long. I decided to help a GG out and sample it for her. Delicious! In 20 years, we’ll find her a bottle of her own.
