mis-match day

It’s Spring Break at preschool and they have an entire week of themes planned for the kiddos. Today’s theme is mis-match. Now, in most houses that just means to let the kids dress themselves, but not in ours. B was so excited. This was his day to shine! He helped Annabelle pick out this little number and I put the finishing touches on with the one-sided braid. Lookin’ good!!!!

Gwyneth’s class is not participating in the Spring Break theme weeks, but she still wanted her picture taken and I never deny her that opportunity.

This evening I had to run to JoAnn’s Fabric for some supplies (I have one box that I put all my most important things in, the things I really didn’t want to lose….and of course, that’s the one box I can’t seem to locate. Typical!). I didn’t think anything of Annabelle’s appearance until we started getting some pretty crazy looks from our fellow shoppers. As I was standing at the checkout counter I informed the sales associate “Her dad dressed her today!” and heard lots of “Ooooh’s” from the line behind me. Well, it was the truth….

happy birthday, mr b

We waited to celebrate B’s birthday with his family until we were settled in the house. We have a long way to go, but we are unpacked enough for visitors! The kids spread out and played all over the house and we even enjoyed our first dinner in our formal dining room.
The loft is the perfect play area for the Wii.

Who brought the grumpy bunny to the party? Oh yeah, that’s the bday boy and he doesn’t care for my picture taking antics.

time to play

After lots of unpacking, cleaning, organizing….it was finally time to play! The Hales and Lemek crews came over and we christened our new casa with pizza, sushi, cocktails, and dancing.

floor picnic

Our last day to pack and get ready for the big move. The Fessler’s very kindly offered to have the girls over to their house for the day while we finished up. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! We plowed through it and finished up with a few hours to spare. The Fessler’s came over for a pizza-floor-picnic and Rob helped B hang the tv in the basement. The kiddos had a blast playing together today and they even saved some of their silliest faces for me.
These kids are going to be so very sad when we actually move our kitchen table.

zoo with lodden’s

With the big move coming up on Monday we only had a few days left to pack. I know what you’re thinking…”wow it must be really easy to pack and move with a 2 and 3 year old at home!”. Oh wait, it turns out no one was thinking that! We received many offers to help with the girls and I’m so appreciative. We are very lucky to have friends and family so willing to lend us a hand.

Grandpa Bob came over Saturday to help B pack up the basement. To get the girls out of their hair and to work off some energy I took them to the zoo to meet Grandma Carole, Aunt Jen, Ryan and Reagan. The girls had a blast with their cousins!

pizza picnic

We are loving our new house — even without much furniture. We have two chairs and a bench right now. Livin’ the dream! Our big move comes next week and then I’m sure the girls will miss having all the open space to run and play. Today we had a pizza picnic on the floor in the kitchen. The girls loved this. It really is the little things….

After lunch the girls played in the basement in what will soon be my work room. There is a little shelf in the corner that could nicely fit a tv, but I just don’t have the heart to take this playspace away from my girls.
Ahhhh, My Only Sunshine Design workspace! It’s huge and bright and absolutely perfect.
I have to enjoy these pretty, clean pictures before I move in all my work materials and trash the place.
Don’t worry, there’s plenty of room for a man-cave for B in the basement as well.
My sewing won’t be over taking it all.

happy birthday, melissa

All the girls were in bed early tonight, including my sister who is about 4 months pregnant. My mom offered to hang out at the house while we went to meet Melissa. We missed the ice skating portion of the party, but we made it for the food and drinks at Rock Bottom.  We had a great time, had lots of laughs and stayed up way too late. It was a blast and I’m glad we could celebrate with Melissa!

Melissa and Rob live on the other side of our new neighborhood and introduced us to the gal who will be living in the house diagnal from ours. They gave us the scoop on our new hood. There are so many kids in the neighborhood. Annabelle and Gwyneth are going to love it!

I gotta send a shout out to Erica — Happy Birthday! I hope you have a great birthday and indulge in all those pregnancy cravings!!!

closing day

We bought a new house and closed today. If you’re asking…..”What? When? Why? That was fast!”, then you are not alone. We concur!! It happened really fast. Since my new business will be from home and B is also working from home we really wanted more space. For the good of the marriage!

We found a house that is perfect for us! An office for B, a work room for me, a guest room for family and friends, a loft for all the toys. We couldn’t ask for more. I absolutely love it.

Now the real fun begins….the moving and packing. Any volunteers????

I promise Eliana loved this…..

Maeva and Gwyneth both called their rooms. Maeva 1st called the Master Bedroom and then the loft. She has also requested we paint the entire house pink and purple.

I wonder if it’s a sign of things to come….we couldn’t get these two out of the bathrooms….

What should we do before the furniture arrives? Great idea, Annabelle!

Poor YaYa

 Moving is exhausting….

Um, Miss Eliana, pants are definitely required in the kitchen at all times!

giraffes

The girls are proud parents to giraffes!
Poppy has continued his tradition of sponsoring an animal at the St. Louis Zoo for each one of this granddaugthers. Between my girls, 7 animals are now fed and cared for in their honor for an entire year. I love this gift each year. I’m always curious to see what animal my dad has picked out for them and the girls love the stuffed animal that arrives with the adoption papers. They are adopted parents to 2 giraffes, 2 zebras, 2 penguins and a warthog! They love them all, but the warthog is still my favorite. Nothing says I love you on Valentine’s day like your very own warthog!!
