soccer clinic, part 2

It was a hot one! Way too hot to be sitting outside for soccer. I’m not sure I’m cut out to be a soccer mom! Gwyneth played for about 45 minutes before throwing in the towel. She did great, but then got hot and was distracted by Annabelle. Miss Annabelle showed up to the park dressed in her princess gear and proceeded to twirl around the park during practice. I can imagine that would be a bit distracting. We have 1 more clinic to go and then we’re taking a short break until the fall session starts up.

shuffleboard practice

The Fessler’s joined us for dinner and some much needed shuffleboard practice. I only have 11 more months to improve my game before next year’s tournament. I assure you B will not accept another 1st round loss. If I don’t shape up I’ll have to go shopping for a new partner.

princess camp

Reagan came home with us after Super Diamond and spent two nights with us. Gwyneth was in heaven! They are best buds.
Monday we spent the morning at the zoo and then on Tuesday Annabelle and Reagan went to princess camp at Annabelle’s dance studio. Gwyneth dressed up with them but will have to wait until next year to attend — only for ages 3 and up (soon, G. very very soon!).
Tuesday afternoon I took Gwyneth and Reagan to the aquarium. That was not a hit! They were both scared. They were quite content to play in the bouncy house outside the aquarium while we waited for Aunt Jen to meet us and pick up Reagan. Gwyneth told me “when Reagan goes home I’m going to cry”…and that she did. Luckily we’ll see her again soon!
Zoo Day
Pretty princesses….and a Minnie Mouse for good measure.

Reagan wasn’t having the princess dress for long. She changed into a ballerina outfit for camp.

happy birthday, consuelo

Our dear friend, Consuelo turned the big 4-oh!!! The girls spent the night with the Fessler’s while we went downtown to celebrate. We enjoyed great food, drinks and a night of fun with friends at Fado’s. Excellent party and a great occassion to celebrate!!
Happy Birthday to Miss Lolo (as Gwyneth lovingly refers to her).

soccer clinic

1st soccer practice for the girls. Gwyneth rocked it. Annabelle lasted about 4 minutes. Miss Annabelle informed us she will not be playing again. I guess dancing school is more her cup of tea.
Gwyneth had a great time! She was one of the only girls, ran up and down the field, and gave those boys a run for their money. Time to invest in soccer shoes and a soccer ball – she has requested a pink soccer ball. What do you know? She’s a bit girlie-girl after all!
Probably our one and only shot of the girls playing soccer together.
Our little soccer star!

Annabelle is not pleased to even watch soccer. Too bad, so sad!

Ready for her 1st scrimmage!!

sparkly

Annabelle received a tiara making set from the Merrill’s for her birthday. She made several tiaras for herself and her sister — very cute. But why waste all those pretty sparkles on tiaras??? They were used as earrings, nail sparkles, and ended up covering most of our furniture and floor. I think B’s nails look just lovely….

Imagine if she REALLY got her ears pierced…

And the many faces of Gwyneth. Annabelle really dolled her up…

kenny chesney

I thought I knew more songs, but no I only knew about 4 or 5 Kenny Chesney songs. Didn’t really matter though. We had a great time at the concert!
It had been quite some time since B and I headed up to Red Rocks for a show…I’m talkin’ years. What a gorgeous place to see a concert. We joined Lansing, Sheila, Missi and Melissa for the show and we were not disappointed. This is a ridiculously fun group and the concert was an absolute blast!

Is that Gus? Nope, he’s in Jersey – that’s just some random weirdo who joined our group shot.

Amazing!

Just the girls!

red rocks

I’m going to go ahead and blame the girls. Yep, it was all their fault. I was loving every single minute of our hike through Red Rocks. The beautiful, bumpy, not-flip-flop friendly terrain. The heat. My goodness, the heat.  100 degrees. Of course, I was loving it. So, it was indeed all the girls’ fault that our hike lasted much shorter than expected and we headed directly to the Morrison Inn for some thirst quenching beverages and some delicious fish tacos.
B has always said he loves having a house full of girls. I wonder if he had to remind himself of that today????
All sarcasm aside, we did have a lovely day. The girls did whine and moan about the hike, but it really was hot and they could have used better shoes and I could help them be a bit more outdoorsy. So, perhaps I am a bit to blame. Just a bit….but I’ll never admit that again.
check out Annabelle’s girly walk…oh man!

Taking a rest – boy, it was hot!

B and his girls. Such a patient dad. I know he could have spent all day exploring the mountains….

Sweet Gwyneth. She’s getting so darn big.

Taking the high road.

shuffleboard tourney

Shake and Bake is back! We hosted our 1st Annual Shuffleboard Tourney this weekend. “1st Annual?”, you say? Yep, this tourney is going to be a tradition. Before the winners were even crowned this year we were already making plans and improvements for the tourney next year.
We started off with a quick tournament for the kids — which ended without a winner, because after a few throws they got bored and went off to play. Out came the big guns and the adult tournament was on! It was a heated, trash talkin’ bash — just what I love in a shuffleboard show down!
Of course, all my trash talking was for not because I made our team lose in the first round. Can you picture the glare from B as we lost our place in the semi-finals? Yikes — I can’t think of it. Still sends a chill down my spine. I have been banished to the basement for daily practices so this does not happen again next year. After hours of play Jen and Jeff were finally declared the winners. The great thing about all our friends is that they are not sore losers — oh wait, that’s not true. There was even more trash talking after the tournament was over. Oh, how I love this crowd.
Until next year….

too many kids

After swim lessons we met up with the Carlson’s at the Children’s Museum. We pulled up to find 4 large school buses parked outside the entrance and a very full parking lot. The museum was packed! Luckily with our memberships we didn’t feel the need to stay long. We explored the new rocket room, spent a few minutes (perhaps even just seconds) in the bubble room and grocery shopping rooms and then headed outside for a picnic lunch. After lunch the kiddos played on the playground for a bit and we headed home for some good naps.
Sweet G watching the rockets

Exploring the power of wind

Going for a swing with Ben

Gwyneth decided it was time for her push the tire swing…

And then this happened. One push of the swing and it pushed her right back! Oops, poor little girl.
