happy birthday, grandma carole

Grandma Carole’s birthday was Friday and we all got together today to watch the Bronco game and celebrate. My goodness, the Bronco game was a disaster, but we all had a good time hanging out anyway.

Jen’s in-laws were in town also, so we added another little girl, Amanda to the playdate. Annabelle and Amanda’s birthdays are one year and two days apart and they hit it off. They had a great time playing together. Of course Gwyneth and Reagan were joined at the hip too. Those girls are BFF’s!

The girls found play-doh and mixed all the colors for their creations. Gorgeous, simply gorgeous!

trick or treat off the street

Have you had your fill of my Halloween posts yet? Seen enough of these girls in their costumes? I have to admit I’m getting tired of Halloween, but we are on the home stretch. Only 2 more days to go! We have done our share of celebrating including the Trick or Treat Off The Street at the Wildlife Experience today. We met up with the Carlson’s and their neighbors at the museum. I didn’t realize members could get in early so we showed up the same time as the other riff-raff. It was a bit crowded, but the girls got lots of goodies and made lots of crafts and had a wonderful time!

Annabelle was thrilled to be able to use scissors for her crafts. She’s not allowed to play with scissors at home anymore…not after the hair cut fiasco

thrilling thursday

  • Our intention for the day was to meet the Carlson’s at the Children’s Museum. I picked up the girls from their Grandma and Grandpa’s and they were a bit out of sorts. They had stayed up until 10:00 the night before and were a bit sleepy, although quite full of candy. We had to reschedule our plans with the Carlson’s and head home for some very, very long much-needed naps!
  • Gwyneth was able to wear her Halloween costume to dance class today. Annabelle stayed home with her daddy — she usually hangs out with me in the lobby. I got a Gwyneth-only outing. She is such a character and cracks me up! I taught her “The Gambler” and we sang Kenny Rogers all the way home. Man, I love that girl!

  • This is how we roll at the Meyer house. It’s spaghetti night and I didn’t want Gwyneth to get sauce all over her Halloween costume. Annabelle is not one to be left out of any adventure so off came her shirt too. It’s not a pre-requisite, but apparently shirts are optional on spaghetti night at our house!

  • Our neighborhood hosted an “Eye Scream Social” and pumpkin carving party.  The girls dressed up in their costumes and we headed over to make Jack O Lanterns. (We are really getting our $9.99 out of those costumes this year!!) Missi joined us and we met up with the Fessler’s for some good ol’ pumpkin carving fun at the rec center.  The girls were very interested in making their own faces and use their own knives….an overprotective momma’s nightmare, but we all survived! Blood-free, limbs and appendages in tact and with adorable little carved pumpkins!

  • We carved pumpkins in record-setting time. We have priorities, of course. We had to get home for game 6 of the World Series.  The Cardinals won it in fabulous, nail-biting extra innings. Can’t wait for game 7!!

wacky wednesday

Wacky, wet, and wild Wednesday indeed! It was a busy, busy day and it was jam packed with fun.
  • In the morning I volunteered at the girls’ fall festival at school. It was wonderful to see them play with their little friends. We made pigs in a blanket, decorated sugar cookies, stuffed a scarecrow, shucked corn, and rolled pumpkins. Annabelle was quite the little performer and Gwyneth stayed close. They both had a great time and I got lots and lots of big hugs when I left.
  • It was our first snow day!! We had a dusting before, but this was the first big snow fall of the season. The girls begged to come home and play in the snow. Gwyneth shoveled while Annabelle made snow angels!

  • Annabelle was able to wear her Halloween costume to dance class tonight. She loves her spider queen get-up and was excited that Grandpa was taking her to dance class.
  • After dance class the girls had a slumber party at Grandpa and Grandma Meyer’s. This was their very first sleepover and from the candy wrappers I found in the car I believe they were quite spoiled.

  • B and I had a date night and went to see Paul Simon at the 1st Bank Center. Sadly the first hour of the show was rather slow. He played lots of new songs and they all sounded the same. He did two encores and they were fabulous! He played so many of his greatest hits. We had such a fun time and can add this to our long growing list of great concerts we’ve attended. Good stuff!

bloody eyeball cookies

Lisa and the kiddos joined us for a sleepover tonight. The dads may be in Breck, but they don’t get to have all the fun!
My dad and Melissa sent the girls a Halloween package which included a cookie decorating kit. The kids had a blast decorating cookies with blood (red icing), eyeballs (gum), bones (candy), worms and toes (gummies). Annabelle was really wound up and didn’t go to bed until midnight. After you see the cookie she made you’ll understand why. Sugar anyone???

Check out that cookie!

Gwyneth wasn’t having any of it! She thought it was super gross. She decided to have a piece of Brennan and Kaylee’s birthday cake instead.

soccer

Let me start by saying I adore Gwyneth and I will support her in any way that she needs me. With that said, oh man, soccer sucks! I tried to be enthusiastic and encouraging, but she just doesn’t really seem into it. She is  cute on the field though…really, really cute. My favorite part of the game was watching her twirl her pigtails while some boy ran off with the ball. That part was stinkin’ adorable.
About halfway through the game Gwyneth decided she would much rather play with Annabelle, Gus, Missi, and Consuelo who came to her big game. I think we were a bigger distraction than support. I’m proud of her for trying, and I’m proud of her for mastering the dribble and soccer stop….but I won’t be too sad to take a break from soccer for a while.
She was the captain this week.

She’s the one in the red shorts stretching.

girls only

My friend, Lisa and I are really good planners. We get together often and we always plan fun things….Vegas, Elton John concert, Breckenridge, etc. B and Don (Lisa’s husband and B’s friend since 2nd grade) give us grief all the time and say they are going to go on a trip someday too. Well, someday finally came. It only took them about 15 years to plan it, but it finally arrived! B, Don, and Brandon headed up to Breckenridge for the weekend so I had a weekend just me and my girls.
We spent Friday night at home decorating for Halloween. We laid out sleeping bags and had a slumber party in the living room. It was wonderful! My time with my girls is so special and I really tried to make the most of this weekend together.

I said it before and I’ll say it again….Gwyneth is nuts! She is definitely going through a goofy, crack-me-up, maniac phase.

She loves to get her hair braided at night so she can have “waveys” the next day.

We watched Tangled, the perfect movie for a girlie night.

And they are out….

tumbling

Today was the last day of gymnastics — for this session (seeing a pattern here!). The girls really like gymnastics. Really, really like it. They are both very strong and willing to learn and again…rather fearless. They love jumping on the trampoline, in the pit, and doing tricks on the balance beam. I was pleasantly surprised to see that both of them have mastered walking across the HIGH beam all by themselves. Go girls!
They were in a lot of activities this fall – dancing, gymnastics, swimming, and soccer. I wanted to give them the opportunity to find what they really, truly enjoyed. Its definitely gymnastics and swimming. Hands down!

swimming

Today was the last day of swimming lessons — at least for this session. The girls have both done great. They’ve learned a lot and have shown they are rather fearless. We had such a rocky start to swimming it’s amazing how much they have grown. I’m so proud of them!

baby crazy

I’ve been so lucky to see Gabriela twice in two months. She is a really sweet little baby. She reminds me a lot of Annabelle at that age. She even looks a lot like her. I spent my visits holding her and am definitely going to have baby Gabriela withdrawal. I have to plan my next visit….soon!
