stylin’

Annabelle really enjoys styling hair. Usually it’s mine, but today she decided to work her magic on Gwyneth. Miss G left the house with at least 4 barrettes in her hair. Gorgeous!

monster car

We live in a pretty great neighborhood. That’s probably a serious understatement although I still feel like a city girl trapped in the burbs quite often. Anyway, as far as suburban neighborhoods go this one can’t be beat.

I was taking Annabelle to her art class when our neighbor informed me his boys had outgrown their jeep and we should take it. Quite a deal…a free car!!

The girls love this little jeep and all they want to do is drive around our street. They call it their monster truck!

princess stadium

Our last day in KC and there was no better way to spend it than eating BBQ and watching a baseball game.  We had lunch at Jack Stack BBQ — delicious! It was a gorgeous day so we got to sit outside.

B is always such a good sport for all the girlie stuff we do, so it’s only fair we do some stuff that he likes too. I really enjoy going to the baseball game and the girls love the cotton candy.

There is a giant Royals crown on the stadium and as we were pulling up Annabelle declared “It’s a Princess stadium!!!”.
B purchased the tickets the night before the game. This was $8 tickets look like at Kauffman stadium. Sweet!!

Yum, yum, yum…bright pink sugar.
Miss Felix still had a bit of a rash, but she was happy and as sweet as can be. (BTW – we are still rash free at our house!)
Our girls were so very sad to say goodbye to Miss Felix, but are very excited for her visit in July.
The Royals and Chiefs share a parking lot so we got to see both stadiums.

fun and games

It’s all fun and game until someone gets hurt….in this case no one got hurt, but poor Miss Felix got sick! We got a text bright and early from Erica that Felix’s birthday party had to be postponed because she broke out with hand, foot and mouth. Poor little girl. The girls were so sad to miss out on the party, but even more sad to not be able to see Miss Felix all day.
We decided to make it a lazy day and just relax at Great Wolf Lodge. We swam most of the day, played games at the arcade, made crafts at the Cub Club, and got colored hair extensions. We grabbed dinner at Gates BBQ which is a KC legend.

bob evans

This is such a flash from the past for me. When I lived in Ohio we would visit Bob Evans often. A bit so often that I got a few detentions for skipping my first period for breakfast. It was just as good as I remembered and possibly better since I wasn’t worried about getting caught ditching class.

fabulous kc

We started our fabulous day of KC by having breakfast at our resort. The breakfast was not so delicious but our table was in what looked like a cabin and the girls were thrilled, so who’s complaining? No one around here.
Next stop, Legoland Discovery Center.  It’s a new attraction in Kansas City and was very popular! Luckily we got tickets online before we arrived and saved ourselves about an hour in line.

Look who is having the most fun….

The girls are hooked on the Wizard of Oz so imagine their delight when they saw this display. Can you spot the Glinda? Annabelle found it instantly!
This is Dorothy’s house. The girls pushed a button to activate the tornado that made the house spin in the air. Fancy!
The Emerald City
The Wicked Witch’s castle. Annabelle pressed the button that caused Dorothy to throw the bucket of water and melt the witch. Gwyneth was so impressed!
And now off to see a football game…
And this is where we are….
Just a little short to go on the rides by herself. Luckily she doesn’t mind riding with her mama.

We headed across the street for lunch at Fritz’s, another delicious and exciting recommendation from Curtis and Erica. You order your lunch on the phone at your booth and they the food is delivered by train. Yes, by train. Fabulous!

Getting our food delivered.

We met up for dinner with the Mason’s at 54th Street Grill for some gringo dip. So, so good. Then we headed over to their house for some play time. The girls adore Felix. They can’t get enough of her.

road trip

We set out for our longest road trip yet….9 hours to Kansas City. B drove the entire time and I sat in the back and read my book entertained the girls. Ok, ok, ok….yes, he did drive the entire way and yes, I did read my book, but the girls were amazing on the long car trip. We left at 5 am and we thought they would sleep for part of the journey, but of course, they were wide awake and coloring and watching movies.
We were very excited to see our friends Erica and Curtis and finally meet their little girl, Felix. What a sweet little girl she is and my girls were in baby-heaven meeting her.
The girls are ready for their 1st Royals game.

Our driver. I swear I offered to drive, but he said he would rather drive both ways. I guess he’s not a fan of Wizard of Oz or Beauty and the Beast….which we watched MULTIPLE times in the car on this trip.

The girls had their very own goodie basket with coloring books, doodle paper, stickers, colored pencils, crayons, markers, and of course a few tootsie roll pops for good measure.

2, 3, 4, 5….

We had a playdate with the Johnson girls which was long overdue. Emma and Rosie came over to play for a few hours, but it was far too short for these girls. We are already planning another get together.
Ages 5, 4, 3, 2…
Poor little Rosie seems a bit overwhelmed by my crazy girls.

they’re back

The scissors have made a return to our craft room. I do believe the girls are terrified to get the scissors anywhere near their hair, but I’m not taking any chances. The girls are very well supervised with scissors!! They love cutting and they are very excited to make snowflakes and butterflies with construction paper.

YaYa gave the girls pictures from Lion King and Beauty and the Beast to decorate their playroom. This is Miss Gwyneth pointing out that I did not put the pictures in the proper order as they appear in the film. Either I need to pay more attention or Gwyneth needs to watch less Beauty and the Beast.

art class

I had conferences with Annabelle’s and Gwyneth’s teachers this past week. They are both excelling in school and have made many new friends.
Gwyneth’s teacher gave me a big laugh. She said that Gwyneth is very social and friendly and is doing well with her letters and colors. Where she really excels is Math. She is testing at a 1st grade level for Math skills and she’s only three. Now I’m not trying to brag, although I’m super proud of her, I just have to laugh because there has to be something in the genes. There are a lot of numbers-oriented people in this family and this is the toddler who slept with a calculator! Maybe all those finance meetings while I was pregnant with her rubbed off??
Annabelle’s teacher has told us she is very creative and since I’m not the least bit I signed her up for the art class at the rec center. (I can help Gwyneth with Math, but I can’t offer much to Annabelle in the arts). This was the first time I dropped her off for a class and left. There are other kids in the class, they are just hidden by the door. Don’t worry – I didn’t leave her there all alone.
She seems so grown up, but still so little at the same time. How is that even possible?!?!
