doctor day

Miss Gwyneth was up all night complaining about a sore throat. Given our history of strep in this house, a doctors appointment was made for bright and early the next day.
Strep test came back negative. The doctor did not confirm or deny it was hand food and mouth when she took a look at the sores in her throat. She did look a bit skeptical of my parenting skills when she asked if Gwyneth had been exposed recently and I said oh yeah, while we were on vacation. Ding, ding, ding…took my little brain a little too long to make that connection.
Ah well, she did say once you are exposed you rarely get it again so we can mark that off our to do list. She bounced back fast and was outside playing by that evening. I’m not going to say she was milking it a bit, but she did get to stay home with me, and eat junk all day, and watch tv all day, and wear several fancy dresses.  I think she made this little virus work for her.
It wouldn’t be a trip to the doctor without a fancy dress. We can’t leave the house these days without a fancy dress and tennis shoes.  She is not at all impressed with my wardrobe of tshirts and sweat pants and actually tried to pick out a formal dress from my closet the other day for me to wear. I’m waiting for the What Not To Wear van to show up at my house from a sneaky little tip off from my baby girl.

On the mend and back on the streets driving her monster truck.
Yep, that would be my child running in to a tree. Remind me to have someone else teach her how to drive when she turns 16. This ones a little too much like her momma.
Something, and I can’t quite put my finger on it, tells me she may be in need of a haircut.
I could be wrong, but Annabelle may have outgrown the tricycle.
Yep, she agrees. This princess has no interest in riding a bike. She prefers to dance and twirl down the street or be pulled in a wagon. I do believe her horse and carriage and tiara will be arriving shortly.

gymnastics girls

I swore I wouldn’t plan any new organized activities for the summer, but the girls asked me to do another round of gymnastics and I must have had my guard down.

So, back to the rec center we go each week. They love gymnastics! Love it! Besides the tumbling and the big pit, they get to see their bestie, Bella, each week too. I get to sit and chat with Bella’s mom and my super fabulous friend, Amy each week also. Win-win for all of us!

After dinner at home, we gave B some peace and quiet because he wasn’t feeling well and hit the Orchards. We stocked up on swim suits for the summer and then had a little frozen yogurt treat at Red Mango. Happy, happy girls!

c’mon son

As I was running my sister and her family to the airport B joined Gus and Don for some much needed golf therapy. Lucky for the girls, Missi came over to hang out with them for the 20 minutes in between B’s departure and my return. I couldn’t fit both girls and Stacy’s family in the car so I can only imagine what mischief they could have found while I was gone. (Geez, don’t call child protective services…I was just kidding!).

Missi, the girls and I spent a lovely afternoon at the pool before the rain started. The guys nearly finished their golf round and we all met back up at our house for some pizza. The girls were so tired from their busy weekend they actually asked me to put them to bed at 8:30. Now, that’s a good weekend!!

We stayed up several more hours telling jokes with Gus and Missi, like we do. Such a fun night! We’re lucky to have such fun friends so close. Good peeps. They joked about moving to Highlands Ranch…I don’t find those jokes funny. C’mon!! (Above picture is only funny if you know that Gus doesn’t know how to spell Cmon!)

heritage square

We spent the day at one of our favorite Colorado attractions, Heritage Square. We went right when it opened to avoid the crowds and left when the rain started to fall. The girls all rode plenty of rides — including Miss Gabriela! Maeva, Eliana and Annabelle are the thrill seekers with Miss Gabriela not far behind. Miss Gwyneth likes to spin, but can be a bit of a chicken when it comes to the roller coasters.
I nearly made myself sick spinning the girls on the teacups. Best phrase from Gwyneth “I wish I could throw up, but I can’t stop laughing!”. Now, that’s a fun ride.
We saw Princess at the Pea at the Children’s theatre. Maeva and Eliana joined the cast onstage and all the girls were included when they called B the King of Okraland…or something like that.

On the flying bus

How sweet are these girls together?

Participating in the children’s theater.

After a busy day the girls got baths and settled in to work writing letters to Madison and Lily.
How did they get this big so fast? My goodness.
Annabelle wants her hair super curly like Maeva’s — hence all the braids. She looks a litte Bo Derek, but loves the waves the next day.

swimming cousins

Four hours at the pool. What more could these girls ask for??? They were pretty pleased. They were having so much fun that we just ordered pizza for lunch and ate at the pool. It was really quite relaxing! You may think that 5 little girls  – two 4 year olds, a 3 year old, a 2 year old, and a 9 month old – would be extremely challenging, but it’s actually quite easy. They have so much fun together and entertain each other and keep each other happy. Ok, easy might be a bit of a stretch, but it really is nice having them all together and seeing how much they adore each other.
Carl and B went to the Rockies game that evening so we let the girls ride the monster truck and then settled in for a movie night. They went through a few bags of popcorn and made it through Little Mermaid before calling it a day!

cousins visit

My sister and her family flew out to Colorado for a fabulous visit. We were so excited for them to be here. We had a really busy weekend planned for them. All the girls were thrilled to be together!
We spent Thursday night at home eating dinner, enjoying berries, and playing with toys. Very, very, very happy girls!

happy birthday, sammie

Annabelle was invited to a birthday party for a little girl from her new school. She has made many new friends and it was really nice to meet several of them. The party was at Chuck E Cheese….what? Chuck E Cheese and Casa Bonita in two days?? I do love my children, I really really do, but this just feels mean. What did I ever do to them????

the bay

All the outdoor pools seem to be opening this weekend in Colorado. Our neighborhood pool opened today and it was PACKED! We drove by and it seems there the entire neighborhood was at the pool so we kept on driving in search of a pool that was a bit less crowded.
We have been really excited to visit The Bay and to our surprise there were very few people there. The Bay is fabulous and I can’t wait to visit again this summer. I have two little fish on my hands so if you want to find me this summer….check a local pool.

picking berries

There’s a great farm in Brighton called Berry Patch Farms where we took the girls to pick strawberries. There are rows and rows and rows of berries. They were beautifully red, and ripe, and ready to be picked and tasted.
We rode a tractor pulled wagon out to the fields and got busy picking berries. The girls LOVED it. They were very serious about finding the most interesting shaped berries, the biggest berries, the smallest berries, the reddest berries, and they were on a mission for delicious berries. My girls are not always the most….well, how shall I say this…outdoorsy? They can be a bit….well, prissy. And there are typically tears when they get dirty. I was worried about this outing. Like many other adventures with my gals, they surprised me and did great and are already asking to return.
I do believe there were more berries in their bellies than in their baskets!
Getting busy

All moms make berry themed outfits for their children to go to the strawberry patch right?….right????

tea party

Bella and Missi joined us for a Princess themed tea party. We had fruit, yogurt, princess crown and shoe ham and cheese sandwiches, cookies and cupcakes. It was more of a princess party than a tea party, but I didn’t hear any complaints. I do believe their favorite part was the sparkling grape juice in their fancy pink wine glasses.
