wicked

I was so excited to take Annabelle to see Wicked. I was a bit worried she would be scared…which is exactly why I didn’t get a ticket for Gwyneth. Miss Gwyneth is my scaredy cat and does not like anything remotely scary (Ursula from Little Mermaid, Big Baby from Toy Story 3, the dark, being on any floor of our house by herself – especially the basement, and most of all the Wicked Witch of the West from Wizard of Oz!). So, it was a date night for me and the blondie. Annabelle was super excited and got ready for the big night by watching Wizard of Oz about 100 times.
We met Missi for dinner at Oceannaire before the show and then walked over to the Buelle Theatre. Miss Annabelle got lots of love. She was actually stopped on the street and told she looked like a princess and that she was beautiful…..not once, but twice. Oh my, I knew it would be a challenge to get this dress off her but after that there is no hope!
She loved the show! She thinks her dress is just like Glinda’s and she believes she should start traveling everywhere by bubble. She insists she will be Glinda for Halloween also. I asked if she liked the Witch of the West now and she said, “yes, she’s really not bad, but I LOVE Glinda!”. She may have enjoyed the songs and the dancing, but I believe she may have missed the big picture!! We’ll try again when she’s a bit older.

ice cream party

Who doesn’t love a good ice cream party? The kids patiently started with pizza and salad and then moved on to ice cream sundaes. They made little masterpieces full of sugar in their very own ice cream bowls.
The kids all played so well together and the adults were able to sit around for a bit and relax and watch the Nuggets game. Hard to imagine it gets much better than that…

The ice cream crew – Corbin, Brayden, Annabelle, Bella, and Gwyneth

Gwyneth and Brayden are best buds. They get along so well!
Gwyneth just bein’ a clown with her cone….

kentucky derby party

Abe and Wendi hosted a fantastic party for the Kentucky Derby. All the ladies were asked to wear crazy hats and of course since all I own are baseball caps I borrowed one from Gus’ brother. I sported the best hat….although it is better suited for a pimp than a horse race!
We had a great night of great food, great friends, great kiddos, and a very short and unmemorable horse race!
Each family got to take home a pair of Mint Julip glasses from the race. Super Fab!

Crazy hats!

That-a-boy Rhys! Those are some yummy ribs.
Making candy necklaces after Hannah gave the little girls make-overs.
Sassy girls!

Happy Birthday to Mr. Lansing!
The girls and I made him special cupcakes to help celebrate!
Toasting Mr. Blue with Blue….
Um, the makeovers may have gotten a little bit out of control. It took me at least two days to scrub this off Gwyneth’s face….
Trouble!

Don’t try and bring a dog around Miss Annabelle, but it seems that Gwyneth is starting to warm up. She kept asking when Chloe, the Chihuahua was going to grow up and not be a baby. She wasn’t buying that the dog was already 11 and fully grown.

imax

We went to see Tornade Alley at the IMAX. I thought it might be a little scary for Annabelle, but she loved it. She asked when are there going to be more “tormatoes”. She loves the action!
There was real footage of a guy who builds this tank-like-vehicle and films a tornado from the inside. Pretty sweet!
What a nut!

flat stanley

The first time I had heard of Flat Stanley was from my niece, Madison. She mailed me a picture of Flat Stanley when she was little and we had to take pictures of him wherever we went.
I purchased the book for the girls so they would know how Stanley got flat. It was a very outdated book from the ’60’s, but it’s a book so Miss Gwyneth was hooked. She doesn’t discriminate she just loves to be read to and who better than to read to her than Ms. Consuelo.
Of course in this day, there’s no need to print out Stanley and color him. There’s an app for that! An you can create your own characters….we made our very own Flat Annabelle.
Hello Flat Stanley!
Gwyneth was so tired from our busy day she fall asleep leaning on Consuelo. So Sweet.

jumpin’ jordy’s

Today was Gwyneth day…..although if you know this girl, every day is Gwyneth day! We spent the afternoon at Jumpin’ Jordy’s enjoying the bouncy houses and some un-natural blue sugar drinks. I should clarify – I enjoyed watching Gwyneth partake in both of those things. And my girl was happy!!

dollar store shopping spree

The girls were thrilled to take their $10 and head to the dollar store. They each got their own little cart and learned a valuable lesson on money management. Annabelle loaded her cart up with her 10 goodies right away while Gwyneth shopped around and made her selections very carefully. As Gwyneth found new exciting items to add to her cart, Annabelle had to weigh her cart choices and the new finds. It was really interesting to see how they worked out their purchase.
They put their items on the counter and paid the clerk. They were both shy, but it was good for them to handle their own money and to use such good manners. They were both so very proud! We came home with two bags of junk  dollar store deals and the girls truly value their new buys!

Our little dollar store princess….and we drop another clothes pin off our bucket list.

summer reading

With the summer right around the corner and the weather cooperating fabulously, I refurbished our patio furniture and created a little reading area on our front porch. It’s relaxing, has a great view of the mountains, and I can watch the girls ride their bikes in the cul-de-sac. Perfect!

remembering grandma

My Grandma passed away this morning quietly, peacefully in her own bed at home. She wasn’t a quiet figure in my life – in fact she was bigger than life. She was our constant. My childhood, holidays, new babies, moves, weddings…every minute, Grandma was with us. If not in person than she was only a phone call away and she missed nothing.

I miss her terribly, but my life is so full of happy memories of her. I remember sleepovers at her house, holding the steering wheel in her black truck while she stirred her coffee, her wicker furniture in Texas, and her sweet tea. She always called us “hon” and could hold babies for hours.

I thought she made the best pineapple upside down cake and asked her for the recipe when I got married. She mailed me a baking dish, a can of pineapples, a jar of cherries and a box of Duncan Hines Pineapple Upside Down Cake mix. Classic!

I am so glad we were able to visit with her just a few weeks ago. She was an amazing Grandma and Great-Grandma and she will be in our thought always.

Below is a video of the pictures I have on my computer. We love you Grandma!

coyote carnival

We were invited to a carnival at the elementary school where Annabelle will be attending kindergarten. Holy smokes – is that in the fall already???? We took a quick tour of the school and had dinner in the cafeteria. Miss Annabelle is so excited to be a big time kindergartner next year.

I think it if you get your face painting on your hand, but it hold it right up next to your face that still counts. Yep, we’ll take it.
