veterans day

B had a catering event to prepare for and the girls had the day off school. It was freezing and snowy, but you know us girls are not going to spend the day lazying around.
Stop 1: another movie. We saw Book Of Life which was a completely underrated cartoon. I thought it was wonderful and loved the Mexico flair. It had some great music too. I would recommend it over Big Hero 6  (but I think I’m in the minority here).
Stop 2: A quick lunch at Las Margaritas
Stop 3: Painting Christmas ornaments
Stop 4:  Sight words on the stairs
Um, ok? I had a work call that I had to take and I asked the girls to entertain themselves. They created this game which was earning their way up the stairs with sight words. So many toys and this is what they do? I give it an A+ for creativity and a B- for tripping hazard.
Here come the addition fact cards. Things are about to get a bit more interesting….
Stop 5: Ice cream
It was 6 degrees outside and snowing. You think that’s going to slow down a couple of Meyer girls. Not a chance!
If you are keeping tabs on us, we don’t seem to be the least bit original these days.
Movies, pottery, ice cream.
That’s where you will find us and no one seems to be complaining.

movie: big hero 6

Tomorrow is the big inspection and we are ready. Nothing left to do except take a day to relax and watch the Broncos. B hasn’t had a day off in quite some time and probably won’t again for a while. We thought we’d be nice and give him the house and some peace. We grabbed Sofia and met Shennon and Jenna for a movie. We saw Big Hero 6. I thought it would be nice to not see a movie about princesses, but I kinda dozed off a little bit. I guess I’m a princess-movie kind of girl after all.

bmk: cleaning day

We are so, so close. The waiting game is the worst. The permits, the inspections, the cleaning, the licensing….so many last minute details to finalize to get this kitchen up and running. B has done an amazing job and has done everything possible to keep this project on track. The kitchen is beyond what I could have imagined and we are just days from opening.
This has been a family affair and the girls have been involved all along the way. Annabelle is our best salesperson and she has invited everyone she knows to the kitchen. The girls can’t wait to cook with their dad and surprisingly, they love cleaning the kitchen. They have so much pride in this kitchen and we are happy to put them to work.
Last days of major cleaning before our final inspection:

2nd grade concert

Annabelle has been working so hard for her 2nd grade concert. All three of the 3rd grade classes came together and performed a musical. Annabelle practiced her songs and her lines over, and over, and over, and over…and over. She was prepared and did great!
Gwyneth has dance tonight so I took the girls out to celebrate before the show. I had to run out right after the show to pick up Gwyneth and Annabelle had Girl Scouts so there was no time to celebrate afterwards. We don’t miss an opportunity to celebrate, especially when it involves treats so ice cream before the show was a hit.

ladybug and ice cream

We have been so, so busy revving up for the grand opening of Blue Mountain Kitchen. We are working in overdrive right now and everyone is feeling the pressure.
After school today Annabelle and Sofia had a playdate at the park and Gwyneth was on her own with me. She hasn’t been feeling well lately. She’s had a cough and runny nose and she just seems tired. Our poor, sweet girl. She is very emotional and all this madness in our house might just be wearing her down. We ditched work and put off homework for the afternoon and and I asked her what she wanted to do…. why? oh why? of course I knew what she was going to say.
Note to self: next time ask “Gwyneth, would you like to snuggle up and read a book with me?” or “Gwyneth, would you like to make some hot chocolate and watch an episode of Brady Bunch?”. Never open ended “What do you want to do?”….unless you feel like….
PAINTING POTTERY!
(it’s her very favorite thing to do in the whole wide world!)
How do you say no to that little face? You can’t. You just can’t. Try, I dare you.
We had such a nice time painting together that we decided to ruin our dinners and go for ice cream. How fabulously naughty!
Guess who decided to join us? Hello, Annabelle and Sofia!

chairs

The girls love to play school. It’s nice to see Gwyneth playing the teacher….although you can see Annabelle’s respect for authority may be lacking…
This is much sweeter.

We headed down south to pick up some chairs for Blue Mountain Kitchen. While in the neighborhood we had to stop for Steak N Shake and a visit to the American Girl Store.
With Christmas right around the corner it was just a browsing trip, but the girls sweet talked me into some little glasses and purses for their dolls.
We have the greatest friends. Misti and Gus spent the 1st half of the Bronco game helping us assemble 30 bar stools. We got in a groove and cranked them out. It was unbelievably kind of them to help us and we are lucky to have such dear friends.
With this many chairs, how could my girls not put on a show??? It was a must. They made tickets and did 3 dances for us.

candy hangover

Halloween on a Friday is fabulous. No rushing to get homework done or getting the girls to bed at a reasonable hour. Nope, we just let them trick or treat until their buckets were full. They sorted their candy with friends, ate too much candy, watched a movie and stayed up too late. It was a great and we were able to sleep in the next day. Of course they didn’t but we we didn’t have anywhere to be in the morning so only we suffered instead of their teachers.
Gwyneth’s sweet friend Paige invited her for a lunch date.
After lunch we had a great game day. We played several games, the girls did a ton of crafts, and we read some books. I can’t imagine a better lazy Saturday.
Found this gem at Costco. How wonderful is this???
We received a goodie basket from Poppy and Melissa for the Grand Opening of Blue Mountain Kitchen. We are in the final steps and we are just days away to opening the doors. So much excitement!!
