While Annabelle had dance, Annie hopped the fence and had dinner with us. Gwyneth and Annie played games and dress up. It was a much needed, quiet Friday night.

bmk: lunch bunch
Today was our first lunch bunch. The classes are geared towards younger kids and parents. They get to make their own meals and leave the clean up to us. Again, we had a great turnout thanks to our fabulous friends and community. It was such a good time and the turkey and cranberry paninis were delicious.

bmk: opening brunch
We did it! We freakin’ did it!
We are open and we hosted our first event at the Kitchen. It was a wonderful brunch with fabulous friends. I am overwhelmed with the support that we have received. It is amazing to be open and working and to be so very busy.
Come in and visit us.
Our first brunch with some dear, fabulous friends.

It was delicious. Insanely delicious!
gusher
This baby tooth has been hanging around for a while.
Her permanent tooth has grown in and this one was still hanging around. It was loose, loose, loose but somehow stuck around. For a looooong time. After her last trip to the dentist she was told it wasn’t going to just fall out and if she didn’t pull it out they would do it for her on her next visit. Well, she didn’t care much, but she has a visit coming up so she finally started working on it. Nothing like the fear of getting a tooth pulled to get you motivated.
It certainly didn’t just fall out. She had to wiggle it and finally yank it out and it was a gusher!!! GROSSSS! Surprsingly, I do ok with blood. Weird, right? I don’t love it, but I kind of go in to panic mode and just hug on my girls and find tissues and treat any drop of blood like a crisis…..but I don’t vomit. Weird. If I see vomit or poo, look out, but blood I’m ok with….bizarre. Don’t mind B in the corner swaying and turning green and let’s hope he doesn’t faint. I suppose we all have our place in this wacky family.
Anyway, this was Annabelle’s victory and she yanked that little tooth out all on her own. It’s been a while since the tooth fairy has made an appearance. It’s about time.
books
My friend Eleanor hosted a book party online. We all sat at our homes in pj’s with smart phones and laptops and heard about great books for kids. I’m a sucker for books and I loved it. Plus, I could scream at the girls “keep it down”, “go to sleep”, “if I have to come up there…” and still be part of the party and buy some books for them.
The girls got some fabulous books and this never, ever happens, but I won the party drawing and another free book is on its way. Now, that’s a party!!
Books have arrived!
Annabelle got a big book of fairy tales and Gwyneth went straight to the big book of sea creatures.

bmk: open!
Blue Mountain Kitchen is open!!
I can’t believe we finally did it. The big day is here. The kitchen is open and it is amazing. I’ve never been so proud of my family and the hard work and sacrifice everyone has put in to making this happen. The girls have been our greatest support. They are proud and excited. Although they have had to entertain themselves often on this journey, they never lost site of the big picture. The kitchen. Owning our own business. And they get to be a big part of it.
I’m the behind the scenes part of this business: the website, the orders, the calendar, the finances, the operations. B is the chef, the personality, the design, the menus, the vision. It truly is unreal to see his designs and idea come to life and it is beautiful. I am so proud of what he has accomplished. He put his blood, sweat and tears (well, not really tears….more like anger and rage and then he gets kinda mean and then he gets really quiet which I think is way worse than tears…) in to this business. Wherever we go from here and how this business evolves we will carry this success with us. I am so, so proud of him.
First day open and B had a catering event. He’s a machine, really!
Sometimes even 7 years old need a lift from their dad.
Our first dinner together at BMK and it was delicious!
This was the dream! The idea was always for B to have his kitchen and we knew the hours would be demanding. He would work day and night to make this business succeed and we never wanted our family time to suffer. The dream was that we would always come together to do homework and have dinner. The girls would grow up in the kitchen, talking to B while he cooked, helping out when possible and this would be a family business.
Tonight was perfection. The girls did their homework at the prep tables and then we enjoyed dinner as a family. My heart is very, very full…(and so is my tummy, B makes very yummy food).
The girls were thrilled to help clean up and although I’m sure the newness factor helps, I hope they never lose their sense of excitement for helping. It’s been a good day. A really good day.
