miracle on 34th street

Poor Gwyneth had to miss her class holiday party, her dance holiday party, and her 1st grade curriculum night. It was a bad, bad time to be sick. She was devastated, but the most important thing is to get our little gal better. I hate to see her so miserable.
We had tickets to see Miracle on 34th Street tonight and I thought Gwyneth would be horrified to miss the show. Sadly, she was so sick she didn’t even seem to care. Annabelle invited her friend, Olivia to join us, B stayed home with Gwyneth and we met Missi at the theater.
Annabelle and Olivia are so fabulously sweet together. I adore these gals. They were dressed in their finest and were all giggles and smiles.
Pink drinks for these adorable pink lovin’ ladies.
There was some kissing in the show and boy, did they think that was HILARIOUS!
After the show I asked the girls what their favorites part was — Annabelle said “the kissing!” and Olivia said “the romance!”. Oh boy, oh boy! It was a late night and both of the girls were asleep in the car before we hit the highway.

strep

Our week just got a lot more exciting. We were hanging out after school doing homework when Gwyneth started screaming. Out of no where. She said her neck and throat hurt and she wouldn’t stop crying and screaming. It was truly crazy! Just minutes before she was all smiles and then hysterics!
I admit, she freaked me out. I called the doctor and they got us in quite quickly. She tested positive for strep throat. She also had really tense neck muscles because she clenched her muscles anytime she had to swallow.
I’ve never seen her so sick or in so much pain. I felt terrible for this little lady. She was still all smiles at doctor. Such a sweet girl.
While Gwyneth rested Annabelle and I got caught up on several last minute projects for school and girl scouts. I was suppose to help in Annabelle’s classroom tomorrow but I’ll be at home with Miss Gwyneth. We packaged red and white beads and pipe cleaners to make “candy canes” and Annabelle is going to lead her class in the craft.
Annabelle also made several Christmas cards for her Daisy troop. She has to miss the meeting tomorrow night, but she still wanted to be part of the craft.
And while we crafted and sorted away, here’s our little Gwyneth. All snuggled up with her monkeys sound asleep. This didn’t last long, she was up most of the night, but she looked so peaceful while it lasted.

sales girl

Annabelle is our little sales gal. We’re hoping she can upgrade these candy canes to Rolex’s someday.
The girls went to Kids Night Out at Dance Space and then Miss Olivia had a sleepover. They stayed up way too late, but were all smiles the next morning.

brunch and daisy holiday party

We hosted our 2nd brunch at the Kitchen with a fabulous group of ladies. These brunches are a lot of fun with delicious food. They have been such a hit. I’m looking forward to many more in the new year  (with mimosas!!)
Happy Brunch Bunch!

Tonight was Gwyneth’s girl scout troop holiday party. We did the same as we did for Annabelle’s: homemade pizzas and cupcake decorating. You can never go wrong with that combo.
The girls did a Secret Santa exchange and since Gwyneth has not been feeling well she purchased a gift for her friend Jenna instead of making it for her. Jenna loves rainbow My Little Pony so Gwyneth was quite pleased with herself. Jenna seemed pretty happy when she opened it too.
Ready for a pizza party!
And a sugar party….I mean, cupcake decorating party (same thing, right?)

Matchers! Not even planned with our neighbor, Annie.

enough is enough

We have all been sick…well, not Annabelle (knock on wood) but the rest of us. There are coughs, lost voices (that would be me), headaches, fevers, and chills. It’s been pretty miserable. Gwyneth woke up this morning with a very bad headache and cough and it was enough. She stayed home from school and slept and rested most of the day. She seemed to be doing much better mid-day when she asked to make her own breakfast. I think we just really need to sllllllooooooowwwww down.
Look at the tired little eyes on that chef.
Not too bad if she says so herself.

disney on ice and memorial service

We surprised the girls with tickets to Disney on Ice. We snuggled in for a concession stand lunch and YaYa treated the girls to snow cones. The show was more classic Disney characters and a celebration of holidays and less Princesses which did not please Gwyneth. You can’t complain at Disney on Ice though.
After the show I dropped the girls off at home with YaYa and attended a memorial service for my friend’s sister. Ashton was only 29 when she passed away and I had only met her briefly at a birthday party. I know her sister from my mom’s club though and she is one of the most fantastic people I’ve ever met. Turns out her whole family is pretty darn fabulous and the funeral was an amazing testament to the beauty of their entire family.
I am amazed at the outpouring of love from my Moms Club. These women are strong, and devoted, and reliable. They have gathered together to be such a support system. I feel so blessed to know them and call them my friends.
After the reception, B and I went for a quick dinner. We got home to find one of our banisters snapped in half and Gwyneth missing a tooth. What???? Things get a little wild when YaYa is here!

rapunzel

Annabelle had a busy day of birthday parties; one party in the morning and one in the afternoon. B took her to the parties and YaYa and I took Gwyneth and Jenna to the Boulder Dinner Theater to see Rapunzel. We met Amy and Bella and the girls had such a good time. Gwyneth and Bella even went up on the stage to be part of the show. Miss Jenna told me she was way too shy. There were lots of laughs and giggles.

santa

We hosted my MOMS club holiday party and Santa made an appearance at our house. The kids were delighted and each received a book when sitting on his lap. It was so fun to gather with all the kids and the spouses. I usually hang out with these wonderful ladies while the girls are at school and the dads are at work. We don’t all get together often. I’m so happy to have found these fabulous friends and I’m so grateful for them keeping me sane. I’d go mad working from home, but they keep me in good company and coffee when needed.
Looking far too grown up and mature, but quite beautiful in their holiday party dresses. Slow down, ladies. What’s the rush????

BMK: girl scouts

Annabelle’s Girl Scout troop had their holiday party at the Kitchen. They made their own pizzas, decorated cupcakes and did a Secret Santa gift exchange. The girls had a great time and it was fun to host such a festive event.
My new favorite cupcake toppers. I wrote the names with an edible pen. How fun is that???
