ears and kidneys

Monday was a rough day at the Meyer house. Poor Annabelle has been a little fussy the last few days and spiked a fever Sunday night. We gave her some tylenol and she slept well and she got up the next morning her fever was gone so we took her to daycare. We got a call from daycare in the afternoon that her fever had returned so we took her right over to the doctor. After a quick check, Dr. Kessel said Miss Annabelle had an ear infection in her right ear and prescribed an antibiotic. He said the fever and pain should pass in 48 to 72 hours. We took her home, got her in pj’s and gave her medicine and she cheered right up. By the end of the night she was walking laps around the ottomans. She’s really good at walking around them but it takes quite a while. It keeps her entertained for hours though.

Sunday night proved to be a rough night for me and the baby also. I couldn’t sleep because of dull kidney pains all through the night. Once my doctor’s office opened on Monday morning I called right away to see if they could get me in. They checked the baby and she is doing just fine, but I had to have some ultrasounds run on my kidneys. They think I have a viral infection that has caused strain on my kidneys. There is not much else they can do while I’m pregnant so I have just been advised to relax and take it easy for the next few weeks. The baby is great and she is just as active as ever.

busy weekend

So glad it’s Friday! After work, we met Sarah & Mary Ann for dinner at Pasquini’s. Annabelle was a great eater and chowed down on puffs, cheese, mandarin oranges and a jar of banana pears. Pasquinis has great food and B and I enjoyed a calzone and great company. Sarah was going on a 50 miles bike ride on Saturday so she headed back to her mom’s house. Not me – I have nothing but lazy planned for the weekend!

Saturday morning Annabelle and I got up and headed out early to get her 10 month pictures. She wasn’t feeling great but she did a great job with her portrait session. It’s never difficult to get a smile out of Miss Annabelle. She was even a good sport and took some pictures for her daddy in her little pink White Sox hat. She looks so much like her daddy!

Sunday we met Susan, Burton & Preston for lunch at The Perfect Landing. This is a perfect restaurant for kids (although they don’t have kids menus, boosters, or high chairs – ok maybe not perfect so you have to come prepared). The restaurant sits on the edge of the runway of Centennial Airport so the kiddos can sit and watch the planes take off and land while they eat. Preston is 3 and was very entertained.

After lunch we went to Ryan’s 3rd birthday party at the House of Bounce. He had lots of little friends there enjoying all the blow up toys. They jumped like crazy. Miss Annabelle was asleep when we got her there and she wasn’t thrilled to be woken up and bounced around. She especially did not enjoy the slides. I guess we’ll be sticking to the swings for a while longer. After the party we headed back to Jen’s house for a BBQ to celebrate Ryan’s birthday with the family, Brad & Sarah, and his family. It was a long day but nice to see the kids play together.

42 weeks

I’ve been keeping up with Annabelle’s 52 week scrapbook – which is a picture of her every week for her 1st year. This week she is 42 weeks and doing great! She is so very close to crawling. She goes from sitting to the crawling position but she is still having a little trouble getting one leg around. She gets really frustrated but we’re certain she’ll figure it out in the next few days. She still seems to prefer to stand and play but that may change once she gets a hang of crawling.

Her favorite color is indisputabley yellow! She loves her Schmoozie NMSU bear, her ducks, and her new yellow lion from her pal Miss Sarah. B and I were curious what the color symbolizes and here’s what I found:
Yellow is pure, bright, and sunny and the easiest color to see. It symbolizes wisdom, happiness and joy. People with the highest intellect favor yellow.
Of course, as her mom, I really think these characteristics sum up our sweet girl, but I think most people would agree!

extreme home makeover

B and I both took the day off to get ready for baby. B had a dentist appointment in the morning for his last consultation before getting his braces. He’ll be a certifiable brace-face next Tuesday. 🙂 He then stopped at Lowes and picked up the supplies to install the closet organizer in our big basement closet. It looks great! We spent the afternoon cleaning out closets and have been able to get rid of so much junk. Where does it all come from? Annabelle has overtaken our home with toys but we have a feeling it’s only going to get worse when there are 2 of them! We spent the evening playing with Annabelle and her new kitchen – at least there is one that works in the house.

6 month appointment

We had another appointment today and everything is progressing smoothly with Baby #2. All my stats – weight gain, blood pressure, measurements – are on track and the baby is doing great. I have another appointment in 4 weeks and then I start on the every two week schedule for appointments. It’s going by so quickly. I love being able to go and hear her heartbeat through the ultrasound. It’s amazing and I can’t wait to meet her. We have her 1st name picked out – although we are keeping it a surprise again until she arrives. The middle name is still being decided but I think we have it narrowed down to 2.

lazy sunday

We met Sarah and Mary Ann at Le Peep for breakfast in our old hood. Since B didn’t have to spend the weekend working on the kitchen he was able to join us. Annabelle chowed down on bananas and pancakes! It’s always so good to see Sarah & Mary Ann and I think I shocked them with the ever expanding baby belly.

We had a very lazy afternoon. Miss Annabelle decided an hour nap was plenty for her and wanted to play. We finally put together her learn and play kitchen from Auntie Becky and she loved it. She even pulled herself up to stand and play with the toaster. She can open & close the fridge & oven but gets a little ticked when her own feet get in the way. Silly girl. B put together the wagon from Poppy & Melissa and we went for a little cruise around the neighborhood. Annabelle loved the ride! She shrieked as she rode along she liked it so much. It’s going to be a blast hauling both the girls around town in there.

Since we don’t have a functioning kitchen it’s going to be a lot of eating out over the next few weeks. We tried a new Italian restaurant tonight called Amaci’s in Westminster. It’s definitely not Chicago calibur but it was better than the chains we’ve tried. Annabelle had a great meal – she ate puffs, cheese and bread. She’s definitely taken to table food and doesn’t gag and loves to shovel it in!

baseball

Saturday morning Annabelle and I got an early start and headed over to watch Colton’s baseball game. BJ joined us a little later – he had to wait for the guy who bought our old cabinets off Craigs list to pick them up. We watched most of the game with Brad but Annabelle got a bit tired and of course I got hungry so we left right before the game ended. Colton’s team was up one run when we left so hopefully they were able to hang on to the win.

In the afternoon we got to meet Caley, Jennifer and Brian’s baby girl. She was one week old today and just a tiny little peanut. She slept the entire time and I got to hold her for quite a while. So sweet! The new parents are doing well and only mildly sleep deprived. They have seem to be naturals at their new role as parents and Jennifer looks so great. They’ve got a cutie on their hands.

We met Brandon, Kelly & Hannah for dinner – it had been way too long! This was the 1st we’ve seen them since they got engaged. We’re looking forward to the wedding next summer. Hannah is a baby genius and Annabelle loves her. She hurried through her meal so she could hold Annabelle and feed her. She was so sweet and Annabelle had so much fun. They are both growing up so fast!

25 weeks

It’s hard to believe but another week has gone by and I’m quickly approaching my 3rd trimester. I’m feeling well – just big and round. It’s warming up and I’m starting to feel a bit uncomforable but I think the lack of humidity in Colorado should help this summer. The baby is making her presence known – she’s very active! We need to get her room started soon. She’ll be here before we know it.

cabinets

We are taking on a big project of remodeling our kitchen. New cabinets, new countertops, new appliances! We’ve picked everything out and it’s been ordered – now we just wait.

B and Grandpa Bob are taking on the cabinet installation themselves. They had planned to install the new cabinets this weekend but they arrived today and much to our dismay they sent the wrong ones! We ordered full-overlay cabinets and they sent standard-overlay. We have to send them back and wait for the new to arrive again. On a positive note, the color and finish turned out fabulous! It’s going to really brighten up the kitchen and give it a modern feel. We’ve also gone for much taller cabinets so it’s going to give us a lot more storage space. I’m more antsy than ever to get the kitchen done! B sold the old cabinets on craigs list so the buyers will be here Saturday to pick them up. We’ll be without cabinets, countertop, and sink for a few weeks now!
