First Haircuts

I have been blessed with two little girlies with full heads of hair, since birth, and decided it was time to take them in for a trim. Being the younger sister, Gwyneth doesn’t get many opportunities to do things first so we decide her haircut would be one of them. She’s only 6 months old, but my goodness the girl had quite the rat tail growing! She has the cutest little round face so I decided she was going to be my “bangs” girl. She did great although she didn’t like the water bottle or getting her bangs trimmed, but it’s so nice to have her hair out of her eyes.

“Let’s do this!”

“Uh oh – I’m not sure about this!”

I wasn’t sure how Annabelle was going to react but they threw in an Elmo movie for her and sat her in the car chair and she was in heaven. She loved it! She just got a trim and left the bangs to her sister. Her hair unfortunatley is just like her mom’s – thin and stick straight. The bob works well for her though. The hairdresser teased us there would be no confusing the locks between these girls because we certainly have our salt and pepper!

Do what you want, I’m watching Elmo!
All trimmed up and looking like a million bucks!

do over, please

I am NOT a morning person, so imagine how thrilled I was to find that I had a VERY early morning meeting. I grunted and groaned my way out of bed and flopped down at my desk at 6:30 a.m. Yuck, Yuck, Yuck! I was setting off for my meeting when I dropped my keys in my bag only to realize that there was already a set of keys in there. Oh no! I had both mine and B’s keys and he had no way to get the girls off to daycare. As soon as my meeting wrapped up, which of course ran over, I had to drive back home, drop off B’s keys, take the girls to daycare, and then get back to work for a 10:00 meeting. How in the world do I get myself into these predicaments??? This would be slightly entertaining if it wasn’t the second time I had done it!

Needless to say my day did not get off to a great start. Wouldn’t it be nice if I could just scrap this day and just start over again??? Maybe not – I’d still have to get up way too early so let’s just move on. Lesson learned – I really really hope!

** Definitely keep your eye out for future blog post that reads “I did it again!!” It’s inevitable.

A New Table

Finally!

When B and I got married 10 years ago my mom gave us a kitchen table. It was her old table and it was probably 10 years old at that time. So, our table was nearly 20 years old and had survived many many moves. The table wasn’t in really bad shape, but the chairs were beginning to wobble and a few even fell apart. The table didn’t really match the decor of the rest of the house either. We finally broke down and bought a new table and I love it! It looks so good with our new kitchen and we have enough room for company again!

Gwyneth is 6 months old

Wow – time flies and my little baby is getting so big. She had her 6 month check-up and she’s right on track. She weighs 15 lbs, 8 oz (25th percentile) and measures 25 3/4 inches (50th percentile). She is a really sweet baby girl. She’s quite the roller – she’s on the move and you just can’t take your eye off of her. She loves her pink monkey (which was also her cousin Maeva’s favorite at this age) and her taggie caterpillar. Gwyneth and Annabelle are really figuring each other out and they make my day when they belly laugh together.

Gwyneth’s cough hasn’t let up so they had to give her a breathing treatment at her appointment. Poor baby girl. Unfortunately it didn’t really help her much but they concluded her cold is in her sinuses rather than her lungs. She was not pleased with the oxygen mask so they decided to hold off on giving her shots so we’ll be heading back on Tuesday.

This little sister has some wild hair after nap time!

Gwyneth is getting really good at sitting up!
Me and my little monkeys. And she’s off… Gwyneth won’t be far behind.

Sledding in Breckenridge

We had a fun-filled weekend in Breckenridge with the Tyler’s and the Fessler’s. What a blast! I think the adults had even more fun on the sleds than the little kids.

My cutie girls in the snow.
Gwyneth sporting the sheep dog hat.

Cade and Annabelle were all giggles in the intertube.

Annabelle and Rhys – these kiddos are just one month apart. They could be twins with their little builds, blonde hair, and blue eyes.

Our little rock star played so hard she fell asleep sitting up.

Recovered

The girls are feeling so much better! They bounced back from their ailments and are doing great. B helped Amy move and Grandma and Grandpa Meyer came over to hang out with Gwyneth while I took Annabelle to her music class.

Thank you Grandma and Grandpa for your help with the girls!

on the mend

My poor girls! A little boy in Gwyneth’s class was hospitalzed this week with RSV so once little Miss started wheezing we called Dr Bucker and she saw her immediately. Gwyneth has bronchitis which is very scary in a little baby and Annabelle started coughing and was running a fever that evening too. I kept both girls home and after a good day of rest and relaxation they are both on the mend and feeling/sounding so much better. We are returning to Dr. Brucker’s office at 4:30 tomorrow for a follow up.

Gwyneth was still in good cheer even though she wasn’t feeling well. She didn’t even mind getting her picture taken – Annabelle, not so much! I tried to take her picture and she was not having it. I’ll get some of her in better spirits this weekend.
Gwyneth looked a little pale and tired Wednesday evening…
Her color returned and she was a much happier baby Thursday night.

"Mine"

Annabelle has learned the word “mine” (thanks Auntie Becky) and we are certainly not helping the situation by having her toys personalized! When she sits in her chair and says “mine” it’s pretty hard to disagree. Luckily Gwyneth will have written proof when her big sister tries to steal her chair.

Thank you to Poppy and Melissa for the great set. It’s adorable!

Now, on to some rather sad news…Annabelle’s bitty baby has been decapitated. Yep, you read that right – Annabelle’s baby doll’s head fell off!! Imagine the horror! Apparently carrying your doll around by the neck is the not the recommended mode of transportation. Luckily the American Girl store has a baby hospital where they perform surgery on these beloved dolls and will send Annabelle’s baby back good as new.

18 month check-up

Annabelle had her 18 month-old check-up this morning. As Dr. Brucker said she is “perfect”. I knew it! Glad to have confirmation from someone besides mom and dad right? 🙂 Developmentally she is doing great! She is walking (more like running), stacking, climbing, playing with her babies, feeding herself with a spoon, dancing, and saying more and more words. Her favorites are “hi”, “bye”, “owwww”, “uhoh”, “good girl”, “please”, “thank you”, “mommy”, “daddy”, “GG”, “baby”, and “here you go”. She repeats almost everything we say so we have to clean it up around the Meyer house! Ha!

She is weighing in at a whopping 21 lbs and is 31 inches long. She is in the 25th percentile for both height and weight. Go Annabelle! She’ll probably always be a petite little gal, but she more than makes up for it with her spunk. She’s a little girl with a big presence. Look out!
