rocked

We’re had a stomach bug sweep through our house and I so very ignorantly ignored the signs that I would be the next victim.

I had tickets to the Bret Michael’s show at the Grizzly Rose. I was promised a peek of the Rock of Love tour bus and a very eccentric crowd – I was not let down! Before I headed to the show I made a BBQ meatloaf for B and the girls & much to my surprise B told me Annabelle ate nearly an entire slice. I HATED meatloaf when I was a kid so this was a very pleasant surprise!! I guess B is right – everything tastes better with a little bbq sauce.
I met up with Gus, Sheila, and Jen for a quick dinner before the show and then headed to the Grizzly Rose to meet Sarah. WOW – what a crowd!! There was quite an age range and some very interesting clothing choices. Luckily my friends and I are not judgemental or we would have had a field day discussing what people should not leave their home wearing. 😉 I was quite impressed that women can still get their bangs to poof up like that – mine didn’t even stand up that high in the 80’s.

I was having a great time and just enjoying all the people watching when I had a sudden rush of nausea. It felt like being pregnant all over again! I ran to the bathroom and suprisingly I wasn’t the only one throwing up in there – mine was probably the only one not alcohol induced though! I tried my best to stick it out but I lost my cookies again and it was 10 pm, two cover bands later, and still no Bret. I decided to head home and cut my losses. I didn’t get to see Bret Michaels but I did see Amber – the winner of Rock of Love 2. Those women are nuts!

I got play by play updates about the rest of the concert from Gus and Sheila via text and crazy – Bret didn’t go on until 10:45 and only played an hour. I spent the rest of the night making sure I had absolutely nothing left in my stomach and feeling very very sorry for myself. I was also feeling pretty bad for B and GG who had the bug earlier this week!

Jen, Gus, and Sheila at Breckenridge Brewery before the show

Let’s get this show started

Hanging out with The Gus like old times – lots and lots of fun!

The girls are ready to rock!

Love from YaYa

More Easter treats – these little girls are so lucky! YaYa sent a special Easter care package for the girls full of lots of goodies. They both received lots of new clothes. They will officially retain their status as the best dressed girls around town!

Annabelle loved all her new Elmo toys. She got a movie and Easter eggs with all the Sesame Street characters inside. She was also very excited with her Elmo – O’s, which are essentially cheerios but if they have a picture of Elmo on the box, Annabelle is in heaven. YaYa sure knows this girl!

Ran right for the DVD player with her new movie
Woooow – there’s an Elmo in that egg!!

Gwyneth received the most adorable bank for her room! It has her signature lady bugs on it – Annabelle has one very similar with bumble bees. YaYa is too good. Gwyneth really enjoyed hugging her piggy bank so as soon as Annabelle saw that she wanted in on the action too.

Struggle soon to follow over GG’s new bank….

The girls each received a pinwheel which was also a huge hit. I showed Annabelle how to blow on it to make it spin and GG thought that was hilarious. Unfortunately, Annabelle can’t really blow without spitting so as she stood over GG trying to spin her pinwheel poor little GG got a bit of shower. She didn’t care – they both thought it was hilarious!

Annabelle is distracted with her pinwheel so Gwyneth swoops in and steals the Sesame Street egg.
Thank you, YaYa for all the Easter goodies!!

We’re headed up to Breckenridge to enjoy all the Easter festivities this weekend. Hope everyone has a healthy, happy holiday weekend!

easter treats

Easter arrived a few days early for the girls when they received their package of goodies from Poppy & Melissa. They received lots of adorable new clothes and beach towels. Annabelle really liked her Elmo stickers – as you can see, she wore them proudly. She also used her beachtowel to swaddle her new bunny rabbit.

Thank you, Poppy & Melissa for all the wonderful treats for the girls!

Sassy Pants

If these past few months are any indication of Annabelle’s teenage years, than I am in big, big trouble!! She is a character and absolutely cracks me up. She is really quite mischevious and finds herself very funny too. The other day in the car, I asked her if GG was sleeping and she said “Uh huh”, then quickly shut her eyes and pretended to sleep too. When B and I looked back a few minutes later she had her eyes shut really tight, this huge smile on her face, and she was pretending to sleep while her little body was literally shaking as she tried to contain her laughter. Oh, my little clown.

Annabelle loves her pacifier and as hard as I try she just doesn’t seem to want to give it up. I try and limit it to nap times but she seems to have them hidden all over the house. I found her little stock-pile of pacifiers and asked her why she needed more than one and what was she going to do with all them. This was her response…..

She sure showed me! Like I said, I’m in big big trouble…

All Business

All Annabelle wanted to do after a hard day at the office was relax and read the latest addition of Business Week. You can only imagine her surprise when she stumbled upon a picture of her Poppy as she was reading up on the Top 50 performing companies in the US. Right there at #22 – picture and all. She couldn’t wait to share the news with Gwyneth.

“Well, my my what do we have here…”

“Gwyneth, you’ve got to see this”“Yep, Momma confirmed it – that’s him”
Annabelle: “What? A baby girl can’t keep up with the news? It’s a tough economy out there.”
Gwyneth: “A girl has to stay at the top of her game. We’re more than just pretty faces!”

“Congratulations, Poppy! You made us proud!”

It’s Back

When this season of Big Love ended I was a bit sad because it was always such a nice way to end the weekend. B and I would relax and watch the show on Sunday nights. Plus, this season of Big Love was fantastic!!

How ever would I fill my Sunday evenings??? What Joy! – The Tudors started back up for the 3rd season and it’s on Sunday nights. I tuck the kids into bed, pour myself a glass of wine and thoroughly enjoy the drama. I’m hooked on HBO & Showtime shows and can hardly watch regular network tv anymore. B doesn’t really like The Tudors though – little too old school drama for him, but he suffers through with me. What a good husband!

colorin eggs

What fun and what a mess!! Lansing and Sheila had us over to color eggs and have dinner. The kids had fun coloring, smashing and eating the eggs.

Wyatt with a mouth full of egg!

Gwyneth’s first easter egg

Masterpiece

After coloring eggs we had dinner and the kids enjoyed the peep cake. It did not turn out very pretty, the peeps were too heavy and started pulling the cake apart, but they didn’t seem to mind at all. They went right for it!

Don’t mind if I do…

Annabelle’s first peep

“Hey, where’s mine?”

terror

We are off to meet Sarah and see the Easter bunny! The girls looked so cute in their matching bunny shirts and white bows.

Annabelle was very intrigued with the bunny while we were in line. She couldn’t take her eyes off him but when it was her turn to climb up on his lap that was not happening. She freaked! She started screaming “no, no, no” and wouldn’t let go of me. She took GG right down with her. They were both screaming. B had to hold Annabelle through the picture and she was out of there as soon as the photos were snapped. Oh boy, I can’t wait to visit Santa!!!

The little girl waiting in line behind us took one look at our girls and said “Hi, Annabelle”. Her parents looked familiar and we quickly realized we all go to the same daycare center. Funny stuff. Annabelle is already running in to her friends at the mall.

After torturing the girls with the Easter bunny visit, we had a nice lunch with Sarah and then went home for naps. While Annabelle slept, GG rolled all over the house! There’s no stopping this girl. While GG slept, Annabelle decided it was time to revisit her execauser. She’s just a touch to big but she didn’t really care.

easter portraits

The girls got their pictures taken for Easter in their coordinating dresses. They looked so cute and had so much fun playing with Easter eggs together. I had a hard time not posting them all but here are a few of my favorites:

Reading

B went to watch basketball with Brad so it was just me and the girls Saturday evening. We relaxed, read books, and had lots of fun! They are just so much fun together and GG is doing her very best to keep up with her sister. Annabelle is always trying to hold her which is quite a funny sight considering she only outweighs her by about 5 lbs.

Reading together
Annabelle taught GG how to clap
Who is holding who here?
