Bears Eat Cheeseheads

As soon as this seasons NFL schedule was posted, we planned our Packers/Bears day with the Tyler’s and Lemek’s. It’s been in the works for about two months. Why we would want to watch our beloved Bears with Packers fans is not entirely clear. We were extremely outnumbered! We stuffed ourselves with B’s Chicago-style Italian beefs and there was plenty of Wisconsin cheese to go ’round. The kids had a blast playing together and to our dismay, Don finally witnessed a Packer win in the Meyer house. I never thought I’d see the day.

When asked “What do Bears eat?”, Annabelle replies with a smirk “Cheeseheads!”. Her dadda and I are oh, so proud. That’s our Chicago girl!

Annabelle & GG looked adorable in their cheerleading outfits from YaYa
GG also really enjoyed the pepperoni rolls which you can see on her dirty little face – she’s also got a stash saved in her cheeks.

I was so happy to be home with B and the girls and we had an absolute blast. We are so lucky to have such great pals with such fun kids here in Colorado. It’s always an adventure and we’re looking forward to a Bears/Packers rematch.

Paz Girls

I had a fun-filled Paz girls weekend in San Francisco. After brunch, we spent our time shopping for Halloween costumes, matching Halloween pj’s for all the girls, watching the Ohio State game, and playing with my nieces. I threw together some appetizers and my mom made dinner for all of us – beans, tortillas and pepper meat which was a hit for us growing up. B doesn’t really care for it so I really only get it when I’m with the Paz ladies. I filled my camera’s memory card with pictures of my nieces and really enjoyed being able to spend time with them. Maeva will be 2 in December and Madison is 10! They are all growing up way too fast.

Her future’s so bright…
Sweet Maeva – after each picture I took of her she said “let me see”.
Digital cameras are fabulous – instant gratification.

Future Buckeye munching on chips and salsa Madison loves helping out with the babies. She’s such a good cousin.

Maeva loves hummus although I’m unsure how much actually made it in her mouth.

Stacy’s Sprinkle

I flew out to San Francisco on Friday evening sans the girls and B for my sister, Stacy’s baby sprinkle. She is welcoming her second daughter in November. It was a very relaxing yet quick trip. I’m glad I had the opportunity to spend time with my mom and sisters and had some special time with my sweet little nieces, Maeva and Madison. I missed my girls and know they would have really enjoyed seeing their family too but for such a quick trip it was much easier to cruise through the airport without them.

Oh, how I love to throw a shower! Stacy’s shower was at B Street and Vine in San Mateo. She had a handful of girlfriends and family there. It was the perfect size – small and intimate with great food and conversation. We all had a wonderful time!

These are a few of my favorite things…

Dirty Blonde

I overheard a humerous conversation between B and his friend at the Rockies game on Monday. Annabelle and Lauren were playing on the playgym and this is what followed:

Brad: “Wow, Annabelle is really blonde”

My husband: “Yeah, you should see when we wash her hair. It’s dirty now, but when it’s clean she’s really blonde. “

Now, I tend to feel bad that my girls get dirty, GG gets greasy and Annabelle gets less blonde when they go a day without a bath. Not B! He just uses it as an excuse to sum up the phrase “dirty blonde hair”.

Wow – she really is blonde when we bathe her….

Walk With Me

Gwyneth is walking and can wear sweet little dresses again. They were an obstacle to crawling and she was none to happy those dresses were slowing her down. She’s back in dresses and looking so very cute. I love watching Gwyneth walk around the house. She is so stinkin’ cute. She is slow and still a bit unsteady but she’s getting more adventurous. I’m so proud of her!

Visit from Sarah

After what seems like far too long, Sarah joined us for dinner and hung out with us and played with the girls. Annabelle and Gwyneth were very excited to see her. Gwyneth received a book from Sarah’s mom for her birthday and both girls were very eager to read it over and over. Sarah is still quite a sucker now that Annabelle can say her name, or at least she tries…”Hi Sawah”.

Winding Down

We were all wiped out from the long busy weekend. My girls are growing up way too fast and I’m loving every minute of my time with them. Well, lets be honest there are some diaper mishaps, tantrums, and the dreaded hair-styling moments but I’m able to laugh at all of our adventures and growng pains. I’m a lucky momma and thankful to be going down this path with B. We make a good parenting team and I’m lucky to have him as a husband and friend.

The girls were supposed to be winding down and getting ready for bed but there’s just no stopping the play time. They love to wrestle and the belly laughs are infectious (even though GG may not look like she’s having fun in the pictures). What a treat to have two little girls who are so very different but so close in age. They can drive each other crazy but are the best of friends and I really hope they stay close and always look out for each other. People give us grief for having them so close together but I wouldn’t change a thing!

Annabelle better enjoy being bigger for now – it’s not going to last much longer.

Let’s Go Rockies

For Father’s Day each of the Meyer dad’s received a family pack to the Rockies game. The family pack included 4 tickets, 4 hot dogs, 4 sodas, and a parking pass. It was a great deal. We had quite the crew at the game and it was a blast!! This was GG’s first Rockies game and luckily Gus gave each of the girls a Rockies dress for their birthday so they could represent Colorado. They sure did look cute in purple!

I expected them to last a few innnings – B and I bet it would be 6 at the absolute most – but they shocked us and made it through the entire game. The were clapping and laughing and really enjoyed the time with their grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Let’s go Rockies!

Besides the entire Meyer family, who would have thought we’d run into so many people at the game? We saw a few of my sister-in-law Chriss’ coworkers, who were so sweet about my girls. They came right up and asked if GG was the ‘little pink tutu girl’ from Auntie Chriss’ pictures at work! We also ran into two of B’s friends from highschool, Brad and Brian, and their kids.

Brad and Noelia’s little girl, Lauren is so sweet with Annabelle. They played on the playground out in left field and Lauren had her cracking up!
How adorble are these girls? The Meyer crew root, root, rooting for the home team

Auntie Chriss is a bad, bad influence and gave GG a big ol’ helping of shaved ice. GG was quite content to sit on her lap for several innings – do you blame her?Our nephew Nathan

Annabelle loves her cousins and wants to keep up with the big kids.
Seeing Annabelle and Ryan sharing a seat was priceless – she adores him.

Brunch with the Fesslers

Happy Labor Day! It’s always nice to have an extra day off work and some much needed family time. We got a lot of it this weekend and it was wonderful.

Monday morning we headed to the Fessler’s house for brunch. The girls had a great time playing outside with their buddy, Cade. We always have a blast with the Fessler family! Rob showed us his indoor skydiving video and has persuaded us that we need to make it a group outing. I’m definitely interested in the indoor aspect – you’ve got to be out of your mind if you think I’d actually jump out of an airplane. Indoor though I can definitely be persuaded.

Annabelle and Cade
Rob and Melissa have lots of fun toys for the girls to play with. This was the first time they got to see GG walk – it’s quite a sight. She just looks too little to be cruisin’ around. Playgym fun! The Fesslers just ordered Cade a big wood playgym for the backyard so the girls, right along with Cade, are eagerly awaiting its arrival.

Rob’s mini-me After B had an attack of his allergies, we moved the party downstairs where the kiddos jumped on Cade’s trampoline. They love that thing!!

taste of co

We love festivals! Well, let me rephrase – I love the idea of festivals with the food, drinks, and entertainment. I am not a huge fan of crowds (not sure how I survived in Chicago all those years). We decided to endure all the people to follow the dream of enjoying a pickle-on-a-stick outdoors on a beautiful Colorado day. Yes, I said dream – that’s how much the Meyer girls love pickles!

I have to give B some props as he found the best parking spot ever – free meter one block from the entrance. It was so darn good he even took a picture of it. (I’ll post it ASAP!)

We went with festival rules and let the girls order whatever ‘taste’ they wanted. Annabelle knew exactly what she wanted – ice cream and juice. No hesitation when asked! GG took a little persuading to make a decision but in the end decided that funnel cake is fabulous! I attempted to explain to her it’s just a little pancake batter and she could have that any old time but she was not deterred and was quite pleased with her choice. Check out our big girl using a fork – she touches the piece with her fork and then picks it up with her other hand and puts it in her mouth. We still count it as using a fork and give her love for her excellent table/stroller manners.

The dream was realized — AAAAHHH, pickle-on-a-stick! I realize I paid $4 so these yahoos could take a pickle out of a big jar they bought at Costco and jam a stick in it…thanks, no need to point that out to me. It was delicious and worth every penny to share it with my girls.
That’s my girl! After I got one bite, she stole the pickle (sans the stick) and I never got it back again. I’m so very proud…

Gorgeous Colorado day

Time to head home with some full tummies and happy girls!
