christmas eve at the aquarium

We had a late start to the day, but decided to head down to the Children’s Museum and the Old Spaghetti Factory for lunch. Ahhh, the internet and telephone….both such useful tools when utilized. Perhaps if I would have used either one I would have known the Children’s Museum and the Old Spaghetti Facotry were both closed on Christmas Eve. Well, Mr. Meyer and I are quite resourceful and decided to head to the Aquarium and Pasquini’s instead. See….little kid museum/germs and Italian food. We know how to keep the course.
My poor planning turned out to be a fantastic blessing in disguise because we got to see the Fessler’s at the aquarium. The girls had a great time RUNNING through the aquarium with Cade. They made it through in record time — 30 minutes flat. I think they actually saw a fish or two….maybe?  The girls were also very excited to see Little Laney. She is such a sweet baby with the most adorable chubby cheeks. It turns out to be the best thing that our plans were foiled — we had a blast!

neighbor night

What could be more fun than 4 little girls???? Annabelle and Gwyneth adore Emma and Rosie and were so excited they came over for the night.
The adults even got to play games. We played Taboo and of course, the moms won. It was almost embarrasing for the dads. They gave it a good try, but c’mon…I love board games and I always win. Yes, always. (I know B is going to bring up the Scrabble game of 2001, but I still have not conceded his victory on that game. It’s a stalemate and I’m always ready for a rematch.)

art museum

Downtown Denver is very festive and its getting me in the holiday spirit…

We had a family night at the art museum. I love the art museum. Love, love, love the art museum. I think Denver has a pretty good one. Unfortunately it’s very quiet on a Friday night and my girls were just the opposite. I didn’t mind much. I wanted them to explore and enjoy the art work. B wanted them to “shhhhhhhhh”. I’m pretty sure they were driving him nuts because they were far too loud in a very quiet place. Next time we’ll go on a Saturday when the children’s exhibits are open.
This just makes me laugh…

You can’t see it in the pictures but there are light bubbles on the ground to “pop”…

Stamping and writing postcards to YaYa…

Making art out of recycled beer boxes.  Now that’s something we can do at home….

wii dance party

YaYa gave us a Wii as an early Christmas gift. The girls really want to get in on the action but have problems working the controller for the “big kid” games. We decided to bust out the Kids Dance Party USA game and they nailed it. They rocked this game and kept B and I in stitches. We could watch them dance all day long. Our girls have moves!
After dinner we popped in a cartoon and munched on popcorn. We had a Meyer family camp out in the living room. We laid out sleeping bags, lots of pillows and cuddled up together for the rest of the movie. Gwyneth was the 1st out but I don’t think I was far behind her. I’m pretty sure Annabelle was the last one up! Around midnight I woke up to Gwyneth crying “My bed. My bed”. B took her off to her bed — I guess Miss Gwyneth isn’t the camping out kinda girl (even if it’s just in the living room!).

museum morning

We had a great morning at the Science Museum. We arrived before the crowds – nice and early – and spent most of our visit in the discovery zone. They danced and dug for dinousaurs and had an overall great time. I love our family time together.
We had a great lunch in our old hood afterwards at Pasqunis. Yum! Sometimes I really do miss the old neighborhood.
Where did these big girls come from? What the heck happened to my babies?

flu

It’s official. I have the flu! Booo!
I was feeling lousy on Monday, could barely get out of bed and told myself if I didn’t feel at least slightly better on Tuesday that I would go to the doctor. I woke up the next morning feeling worse. No fun at all. The doctor confirmed I had the flu and there was nothing I could do but ride it out. Again, no fun at all.
On a happier and healthier note….I made a Yo Gabba Gabba tee for the girls’ friend for Christmas. I mistakenly left it on the couch rather than wrapping it right away. Miss Gwyneth got out of the bath and said “MY GABBA!!!” She wouldn’t put on pj’s and would only wear this shirt. I guess Gwyneth got herself a new tee and I’m back to the sewing machine to finish Christmas presents. I don’t mind at all – I love making these shirts and I love, love, love that Gwyneth wants to wear it (for two days in a row I should add — I might have to make her a few so she doesn’t start getting stinky).
I vowed in an earlier post that I would try to be in more pictures rather than always being the picture taker. Well, wouldn’t you know it….Gwyneth begged to take pictures with me and Annabelle tonight. While I have the flu. A vow is a vow….

meyer cousins portraits

A good friend of ours has a mini-studio in his basement and offered to take pictures of all the Meyer cousins. We haven’t had much success with this in the past (remember us getting kicked out of Sears….). Don said he was willing to give it a try so we took him up on the very generous offer. He got some absolutely adorable shots of the cousins together. My favorites are the ones of them just being silly. He really captured how much fun they have together. He got some cute ones of my girls together — sorry, no teaser you’ll have to wait for my Christmas card.

pizza night

We gathered with the Fesslers’ and the Tyler’s for a make your own pizza night. The kiddos loaded up their pizza with veggies. I was impressed to see them being so adventurous. We had a great time — it had been far too long since we all got together.

Patiently waiting for her pizza. All the other kids got up to play, but not Gwyneth. She just sat and waited. No way she was going to miss out on her pizza.
