rockies vs reds

Gus and Missi joined us for a fabulous, although a bit cold night at Coors field. The Rockies played the Reds which is always a big draw for us since B was born in Cincinnati. (Don’t worry, we still root for the Rockies!) We enjoyed hot dogs, nachos, and the girls even had a snow cone despite the chill in the air. We made it through the 8th inning which is pretty darn for this crew. I’ve set it before, but I think we are just around the corner for an entire baseball game – as long as we can go to a day game I do believe we can do it!

real neil

“There are two types of people in this world: Those who like Neil Diamond, and those who don’t.”
We love him!!

B and I got tickets to see Neil Diamond and I do believe we were the youngest people at the show by about 40 years. It was a great, great show!! I had such a good time. Loved every song he sang, it took me back to my college dorm years, and I had a fabulous night out with my husband.

belle party

Approximately 27 princesses arrived at our house to help celebrate Miss Gwyneth’s fourth birthday. She requested a Beauty and the Beast party which included princess theme food, crowns and rings crafts, a princess nail salon, and most importantly a visit from Belle!
I go a bit over the top for the girls’ birthday parties. I’m aware of this and I won’t apologize for it. I love the craftiness and creativeness of it all and I love, love, love seeing them happy and excited with their friends. I really love birthdays and I especially love showering the girls with affection, attention, and princess madness on their special days.
Gwyneth’s party was perfection….and by that I mean she was thrilled to be dolled up in her Belle costume, she was so happy to play with her friends and family, and when Belle arrived she had a smile from ear to ear. A very happy little birthday princess = perfection to this mom!
The absolutely adorable birthday girl!!
Gwyneth’s nail salon – each of the girls got their finger nails painted by Missi and then took a bottle of princess polish and princess lip gloss.
Liquid refreshments
Lumiere Matchsticks = Veggie Sticks
Beast Claws = Bugles
Craft table
Belle’s library – each of the girls got a Happy Birthday, Princess! book as their takeaway

Cogsworth Chicken Salad Croissants
Ham and Cheese Crown Sandwiches

Gus and Missi arrived before the party and totally stole the show with their gift!!
A talking, singing storytelling Belle. Jackpot!!!
Jaimyn made another outstanding cake for Gwyneth’s party
She also made chocolate covered princess oreos. DELICIOUS!!
As the princesses started to arrive I triedd to get my girls to eat. I don’t believe they ate much – they had their eye on the cake!

Making wishes

Belle arrived and Gwyneth couldn’t be more excited!!! Gwyneth was front and center and everytime Belle would turn around she would hit Gwyneth in the face with the back of her dress. Gwyneth LOVED it and thought it was absolutely hysterical!!! She said it was her favorite part of the night!!

In awe of Princess Belle

Princess Belle gave each of the girls glitter, tattoos, and a photo op
So stinkin’ cute!

Gwyneth loved her Belle birthday party. She is already talking about the Wizard Of Oz party she wants to have for Halloween — this gal loves costumes and entertaining!

happy birthday, caroline

In case you are wondering what we do with all our time, here’s the breakdown:
33% of our time spent working
33% of our time spent sleeping
33% of our time celebrating birthdays!
(remaining 1% of our time shopping for birthday gifts.)

That’s just a rough estimate, but I think it’s pretty accurate.
This weekend we had 5 birthday parties. Yep, five! We love celebrating with our friends and let’s be honest….we REALLY love cake!
We celebrated Caroline’s birthday at Monkey Business and the girls had so much fun with their Victory friends. Now that we’ve switched schools they don’t get to see  these gals every day so the birthday parties are that much more special.

Caroline, the birthday girl!

happy birthday, meyer’s

YaYa is here! She flew out for Gwyneth’s birthday, to help me with Gwyneth’s party, and join us for her birthday trip to Elitch’s.
We have a lot of family birthdays in June and July. Here we go: Me, Annabelle, Bob, Jeff, Gwyneth and Gus….in that particular order. We invited everyone over to celebrate all the birthdays together. Our gathering actually fell on Bob’s birthday, but I believe his hearing aid died so I’m not really sure if he heard anyone wishing happy birthday. I think the battery died but he could have purposefully turned it off. Sometimes it’s hard to tell…
B whipped together a great meal while YaYa and I took the girls to Andrew’s birthday party. B made hot dogs, teriyaki burgers, “Morton’s burgers”, corn on the cob, ceasar salad, potato salad and coleslaw. He even set out some appetizers. Lets just say he outdid himself. Gus and Missi brought me some rum from the Domincan, Chriss and Paul brought some homemade beer and purple and pink glitter cupcakes, Jen and Jeff brought pies, and Bob brought Carole some Sangria….which I do believe Jen hijacked to make some tonic-sprite, whiskey tonic, sangria drink which was a hit with the ladies.
The girls each received a book, cash, and a gift card from Bob and Carole. They said they were going to put the cash in her piggy banks which didn’t make B’s mom happy because she wanted them to spend it at Claire’s, but I have to admit I was pretty proud they wanted to save their money!!
Aunt Chriss and Uncle Paul brought Annabelle her own gum making kit!
Aunt Chriss and Uncle Paul gave Gwyneth a very large blow up ladybug.
We got Gus a movie, because we always need new movie lines to quote and this one has some good ones.
Reagan helping her daddy open his birthday gifts.
Silly Reagan!

wow time

It’s been far too long since my little ladies and I visited the Wow! Museum (Worlds Of Wonder). I’m a big fan of this place. I really like supporting the local small business and it really challenges the girls with fun and age appropriate stations. Annabelle’s favorite station is the art station, Gwyneth’s favorite is the bank, and they both love, love, love the pulley chairs.
Making bubbles as big as their little bodies!

Craft time. I’m not a fan of glue (let’s be honest, I’m not a fan of the girls playing with anything really messy in my house), but at the museum — play away! Got any paint or glitter around? Go for it!

Annabelle made a collage out of old wallpaper sample books. I’m always impressed with the clever resources available here. Note to self and friends: save old magazines (kid-friendly, please) for the girls for collages. They love it!

Gwyneth shows off her big strong muscles in these pulley chairs. She may be a skinny-mini but she’s got some serious upper body strength!

This little one may have whined and fussed for some help pulling herself up as high as her sister. Since we had such a fun, fabulous day I will neither deny or confirm my assistance.

rockies rain out

We gave B tickets to see the Pirates vs the Rockies for his Father’s Day gift. We headed down ready to root, root, root for the home team. We made it quite a few innings, a few hot dogs, an order of nachos and a few snow cones…..and then it started to rain. We were pretty high up, but not quite high enough to be sheltered. We lasted a few minutes of sprinkles, but when the rain started falling harder the girls were ready to bail.
Someday….maybe not in the near future, but someday B will be able to watch an entire sporting event. Ahhhh, to dream!!

ice age

The girls trying to stay cool on a warm summer day.
After a few minutes of burning up at the park, we headed to a movie….a nice, cool, air conditioned movie. Ahhhhh! Now that’s more like it.

fun with francesca

Our neighbors invited us over for a BBQ and the girls were in H.E.A.V.E.N. playing with Francesca. In age, she is between the girls, but will be in Gwyneth’s grade in school.
They both adore playing with her. They spent the evening playing dress up, painting nails, playing Wizard of Oz, and running around screeching (as only three little girls can do!). Many plans were made for future playdates, sleepovers and according to Francesca we should ‘drop the girls over the fence sometimes!’. Such characters!!
