little pumpkin

Gwyneth wanted to take in treats for her Pre-K class and we asked to do it the day before Halloween. We like to spread the sugar out over a few days. Gwyneth’s favorites are chocolate cake with chocolate icing so that’s what we made.
We also put together little thank you’s for the teachers and office staff for taking such good care of our baby girl.
She was so excited to hand out the treat bags.

We skipped pumpkin carving this year and I got some cute little sticker packs to make faces on our pumpkins. I’ll be honest…I don’t like pumpkin carving. It’s messy, the insides are gross, and I don’t really like letting my 4 an 5 year old play with knives. We went the sticker route and everyone was happy and we didn’t have rotting pumpkins on our front porch this year. Yahoo!

I love this picture. I assume this is how he feels most days with these girls…

All their little pumpkins they have collected this season.

They did a pretty good job with those little stickers.

monster mash

I had a special snack waiting for Annabelle when she got home today. She had a blast assembling these monster mouths and it was just three easy ingredients.

always a good sport.

that face means it’s marshmallow time

fabulous. the more messed up the grill, the better. very spooky smile!
delicious!

We cleaned up our messy snack and went right into the princess mode for dancing school. The girls performed their routine to Monster Mash and did such a wonderful job. I absolutely LOVE their new dance school.

Taking her bow. So very serious!

Annabelle’s friend, Amelia, went to preschool with her but they going to different schools for kindergarten. They are thrilled to be in class together every week and are inseparable.

Super cute five year old class.
Scary faces!
Annabelle and Ms. Reagan. We love, love, love Ms. Reagan and couldn’t ask for a better dance instructor.
Ms. Reagan invited Gwyneth to the party and even gave her lollipops with the other kids. Lucky little girls.

shepherds pie

Annabelle has met some sweet new friends in kindergarten and she was invited to play at one of their houses this afternoon. That means some one on one time with our little Dorothy. We grabbed lunch out and made the mistake of ordering off the kids menu. Gwyneth doesn’t eat kid food. Why bother with chicken nuggets and mac and cheese when you can eat your dad’s shepherd’s pie and green beans?! Love it!
Fighting for bites…

halloween portraits

I had a groupon to get Halloween pictures taken of the girls and I couldn’t be happier with how they turned out. I’ve never done Halloween portraits before, but they’ve never been this passionate about their costumes before. They were very specific about what they wanted and they picked out the perfect costumes to suit their little personalities right at this moment.
Wedding Rapunzel and Dorothy. Perfection!

Princess perfection.

I wanted to get this one blown up poster size. Gwyneth and her Toto.

dancing dorothy

Gwyneth typically goes to school for two hours on Friday. She goes in the morning and then I pick her up for dance class. Most days she comes home and has lunch and spends the afternoon with me. Days like today she wants to go back to school after dance. Today they had a costume parade and a Halloween party in Pre-K. She was not going to  miss out on the festivities!
Ready for her school party

It really worked out quite nicely that she got to wear her costume to school, because when I picked her up for dance she was all ready for costume day at dancing. The dancers had class for the first 40 minutes and then the last 20 minutes they put on a show for the parent’s and a little party. They did a routine to Ghostbusters…adorable!

“Who you gonna call?”

Dorothy’s tights are saggin’ a bit. HA!
Super cute little class. Couldn’t ask for a better studio for the girls.
Scary faces!

unwind

Tonight it was my turn to host book club. We read a fabulous book – Unwind by Neil Shusterman. The premise starts with a civil war between Pro-Life and Pro-Choice Americans and the result is the dystopian society where children between the ages of 13 and 18 can be “unwound”. I won’t give more away, but I highly recommend this book. These are my favorite types of books!
While I got the treats ready for bookclub, Miss Gwyneth noshed on a turkey burger.

We are in full-Halloween-book reading mode. These are two of my new favorites for Gwyneth. I love the Night Before series…. we have them for nearly every holiday and big event (night before the tooth fairy, night before the first day of preschool, night before the first day of kindergarten….you get it, right?).

Pumpkin cookies
Pumpkin cupcakes. ‘Tis the season.

Gwyneth asked “is this it for all our hard work?”. Um, I don’t believe we really worked that hard setting out a few treats, but show us those muscles girlie…

cheer costume

Annabelle received a participation ribbon if she wore her Halloween costume to cheerleading practice this week. The ultra fancy wedding Rapunzel costume is not the most conducive for cheering and tumbling, so we scoured through the dress up box and what do you know? We had a little cheerleading costume. Perfect! A little small, but Perfect! And she got her ribbon. Happy Girl.

school pride

red ribbon week Thursday = school pride tshirts
Annabelle was jumping around in her bed last night and smacked her head.
hard. on the edge.
She has quite the goose egg, horrible bruise and a pretty terrible headache last night. Poor girl.

m.i.a.

I hated sharing a room when I was a kid and swore that my kids would always have their own rooms. We have six bedrooms in our house and the girls sleep together every night.
I tucked them in and went back in later to check on them….

Sometimes just being in the same room isn’t enough!
It’s weird how much I complained about sharing a room when I was a kid and now I look back on it and I wouldn’t change it for anything. Sorry for making you sleep in the hallway Becky. 🙂
