dare to dream

The girls and I had a date on football Sunday to see Disney on Ice. We made it a girls day…but let’s be honest, football Sunday, princesses, ice skating…that just screams girls day!
I didn’t tell the girls where we were going. They put on their dresses and I told them to guess. Annabelle was certain we were going to Disneyland and Gwyneth said it’s either a movie or a show. When we arrived and they saw it was Disney on Ice there was no disappointment. Some very, very happy little princesses.

I saved another surprise for them, my wonderful friend Consuelo joined us. It has been so long since we’ve seen her smiling face and oh, how we’ve missed her. What a good sport to join us for the show!

Consuelo brought wands and crowns for the girls. I hate to admit that my children can be bought by a little princess bling, but they can…they really can.

Gwyneth sat between Consuelo and I at the show. Consuelo can back me up on this, THE. GIRL. NEVER. STOPS. TALKING! Gwyneth had an opinion, question, comment about every second of the show. I had to  finally tell her to “shhhhh” so the other kids around us could hear the songs!

Why don’t we wear tiaras every day?

We all had a wonderful time! On the drive home we talked about our favorite parts and I asked if there was anything they didn’t like. I said I didn’t like the Princess and the Frog part very much, and Annabelle said it was a very good show, but we should have invited the cousins to join us. Gwyneth agreed wholeheartedly so either my sisters have to move to Colorado or we need to start coordinating with the Disney Princesses.

engaged

Our dear friends, Amy and Tom are engaged! When we first met them they were single parents and all of our kids went to daycare together. It took Amy a few playdates before she realized they were dating and now they are engaged and getting married next year. We are so happy for them. They are great people, fun and fabulous friends, wonderful parents, and we can hardly wait for the wedding next year. We wish them the very best….and Annabelle already informed me she needs to talk to Bella about what she needs to wear to this bash. Oh my!
The happy couple!

Trying to figure out how to tolerate Missi not knowing how to use my camera after ALL THIS TIME. C’mon!!!

craft workshop

B took Miss Annabelle to a birthday party for her best bud, Sofia and Miss Gwyneth and I had the morning to craft. (Although B said when they walked in the party and Sofia asked where is GG????” Everyone loves Miss Gwyneth).
Our church hosted a craft workshop and it was geared more towards the older kids, but that didn’t stop Gwyneth. She made everything, got lots of love from all the tweens, and had a great time. She really is a very sweet, funny girl and I had a great time spending the morning creating ornaments, wreaths, necklaces and candy cane reindeer with her.

stocking surprise

Pete Rose pulled a fast one on Gwyneth and showed up in her stocking today. He’s not incredibly creative…I’ve seen websites where the elves go all out. Pete Rose is simple, but always gets a good laugh from the girls!

I think someone forgot to tell Annabelle that it is December? She decided it felt like a beach night, but had to settle for a swim in our bath tub.

pete rose

Our Elf’s name is Pete Rose. You can thank B for that. It’s quite comical to hear Gwyneth wondering around the house inquiring “where is Pete Rose?”.

Annabelle’s homework was to read The Gingerbread Man and then write about the Gingerbread man visiting our house and who he would run away from. She came up with this all on her own. I’m hoping her teacher is a Reds fan.

holiday reads

We are in full holiday mode around here and we are making our way through the holiday books. We have quite a collection and here are a few of my favorites.

This book is extremely helpful because the girls ask me to sing to them and I only know a few lyrics to each song. This gets me through…

Young reader adaption of the novel. Love those Hermans!
Gwyneth’s favorite.
And what Christmas season would be complete without the readings of Sweet Land of Liberty, the story of the birth of our nation. This is Gwyneth’s other favorite right now, she’s a wacky gal.

The girls received a package in the mail today and they each got their very own pictures of Maeva, Eliana, and Gabriela. They were thrilled and now carry them around like trading cards. They do love their cousins.

new members

We joined a new church this week. We’ve been attending regularly and its a good fit for us. It reminds me of the church/school house from Little House on the Prairie. The girls love their Sunday school class and everyone has been very welcoming to us.

I looked all over for these advent calendars. Nothing fancy just simple little chocolate countdown to Christmas. Finally found them at the grocery store and the girls have stopped asking how many more days until Christmas. Once they are out of chocolates = Christmas!

cd and cookies

B went out super early this morning to get the new KBCO CD. This is a good one. One of the best.
While B took Gwyneth to a super hero birthday party, Annabelle and I baked cookies. We made peppermint chip cookies and peanut butter cookies with hershey kisses. Annabelle was a big helper. She unwrapped all the candies, snuck a few, and then placed the candies on the cookies on the platter. She did her share of sampling both kinds of cookies, but isn’t that best part of helping mom bake?

Perfect mugs from Poppy and Melissa to enjoy some nice cold milk with those cookies.
We shared our cookies with some great friends this evening. Amy and Bella (Tom and Brayden stayed home because Brayden had a fever), The Hales’, and the Tyler’s joined us for some food, fun and a hilarious game of Catch Phrase. This is a good group and we’re lucky to have them.

14 years

We celebrated our 14th anniversary today. We had a quiet lunch out while the girls were at school and then dinner with the girls. It was a perfect day. Low key and just our style. It’s hard to believe it’s been 14 years. We’ve come a long way.
That was then….

And this is now…

Thank you to Jacynthe for capturing everything that I love about my family. It’s been a good, good 14 years.

snack break

I had some special time my favorite little kindergartner after school today. She is quite the social butterfly and has a few birthday parties coming up so I took her shopping for some gifts. She picked out some good stuff for her friends. She also came across with this giant stuffie to give to her sister for Christmas. What are the chances she’ll be able to keep it a secret until Christmas??? Not a chance. She gave it to Gwyneth as soon as we got home!

We even decided to spoil our appetites with a little frozen yogurt treat. I had pumpkin pie yogurt with graham cracker crumbs. Delicious! Annabelle had banana, coconut, pineapple and pumpkin pie yogurt swirled with a few sprinkles and a couple gummy bears. Um, delicious…I think?
