geyer summer visit

Our friends, The Geyers are visiting from Kansas for a few days. We met up for dinner Tuesday night and the kids quickly clicked and requested a sleepover at our house. They’ve only met a handful of times before and see each other once or twice a year, but they get along beautifully. It’s so wonderful when that happens!
They giggled their way through the sleepover and then we met up with their mom and aunt for pottery painting the next day. I love that Kennedy requested a pottery painting session! It was fun to be in the studio painting rather than working. My girls are getting pretty darn good at painting too. I can’t wait to see their finished pieces.
So glad we could spend this time with them! Looking forward to their Christmas visit.

lily and yaya are here!

Lily and Yaya have arrived!
We get them for an entire week and we have lots of fun planned. Their flight was awfully early this morning so we were a bit slow moving. We had no trouble filling up our day and were pretty worn out. Lily was a trooper though and the cousins are so flippin’ happy to be together.
First stop was lunch at Red Robin.
We then granted Lily’s one summer request – painting pottery! I haven’t been in to paint in so long…it’s hard to just sit and enjoy the studio when I see so much to be done all around me. I did my best to detach and just appreciate the time with these ladies.
It was Lily’s very first time painting pottery EVER…if you can believe that?! She loved it. She painted a box for me and a Father’s Day gift for her dad.
The girls still have dance classes and rehearsals all week so our nights are still a bit hectic, but we’re so glad to have Yaya and Lily here this week!

whimsy • llamacorn

Oh boy, we are struggling to get into our summer groove. It never truly feels like summer until we’re done with dance…and we still have a week and a half until we’re done with classes and recital. We’ve been having fun and I’m certainly not complaining. I guess summer is just a bit of a chaos and I have to learn to embrace it.
Gwyneth met up with Ella today for a little canvas painting. They painted llamacorns. I can’t imagine anything more perfect for these little ladies.

parent-teacher conferences

The girls were off school today for parent-teacher conferences. Just as they did yesterday, the girls split up with Annabelle spending the morning at her friend Kierra’s house and Gwyneth heading with me to the Littleton studio. After lunch we all met at the school for conferences which went even better than expected. I’m proud of these little ladies and what they’ve accomplished this year.
We met up with the Tendlers for dinner at Chuys. We discussed some summer vacation plans and I hope we get those on the calendar sooner than late! Always a fun time with these peeps.
And then home to snuggle up and watch  Friends with my Annie. She’s become quite obsessed with the show and I’m encouraging it. We started watching together from the beginning. I’ve always been a huge fan and it’s been fun to share it with her.

girl scouts at color me mine

After a busy mountain weekend, we were right back at it with Girl Scouts on Monday night. Our painting meeting was rescheduled a few weeks ago due to weather and the girls were pretty excited to be in the studio.
They are a very sweet group of girls and were eager to paint. They did a great job and I was so impressed that they cleaned up their entire space before leaving. Looking forward to seeing these gems come out of the kiln.

painting wednesday

I have missed my painting days with the girls. We created lots of new projects over the summer and it was great to be in the studio with them. I haven’t been very motivated lately to create anything new, but got the bug last night.
I’ve been a reading fool lately but took a little break to paint. I made these three projects and can’t wait to see them glazed and fired.

This one is a little off-center which bugs me tremendously. I think it will be staying at the studio or it may just make me nuts.

Sometimes you just need a friendly reminder…

painting with crystals

Another techniques class in the books tonight. It was our biggest turnout yet, but still small enough so I could work with my girls.
We painted with crystals, which is a bit different because you have to really trust the process. You paint your piece and then wait for the “magic” in the kiln. Tiny crystals explode during the cooking process. Everyone did a great job and I can’t wait to see how they turned out!

paint with tape

I’ve been teaching classes at Color Me Mine and was ready for this week’s class. I was going to teach the kids to paint with tape. We had a small turnout and friends showed up to take me out for a late birthday celebration. My staff offered to take over the party for me. Everyone was happy and I was feeling quite spoiled.
