greek fest

I really enjoy the Greek Festival. Not sure that the rest of my family likes it all that much, but I drag them along. This year was cooler than prior years and it was easier to find tables to enjoy our festival food. Festival food is quite possibly the best food there is. 🙂 We enjoyed so many different tasty dishes. The music, the food, the beer…what’s not to love about festivals?!
My favs: gyro and beer Yum, yum, yum
Annabelle was adventurous and tried lots of different things.
Greek donuts with honey and nuts
Greek fries. They had a lot of black pepper. Very tasty!
Lots of great tents to shop
Inside the temple
The girls had 2 coupons left to burn and stumbled across a tent selling watermelon. One coupon each was a steal and they were thrilled. They loved watermelon and gobbled these up!
It started to rain just as we were heading out. Perfect timing.
The girls and I took YaYa to see Incredibles 2.
I have never seen the first one but I got caught up pretty quick. It was a cute movie and Gwyneth giggled her way through it.

fathers day

Oh my! Father’s Day was a hot one!
This is the second year in a row that we were burning up. Last year we went to the baseball game and melted. This year I planned a trip to the Greek Festival because B loves Greek food and I had read that it was both inside and outside, so there would be some reprieve from the heat. Well, it was registering 104 degrees in my car when we arrived so again, this year we were melting!
We checked out the art and statues and beautiful decor in the sanctuary. The church is truly stunning and since I was in high school I have wanted to see what was inside that mysterious gold dome. B and I drank cold beers while sharing a gyro and the girls shared Greek fries. Everyone had red cheeks and were quite sweaty. The heat wore us out and we were ready to move inside permanently.  We grabbed some tacos in Cherry Creek and then went home to cool off!
My moms visits every year for the dance recital which is the same weekend as Father’s Day. It has become her gift that she watches the girls in the evening so we can have a night out. We don’t do that very often and every time we do I swear we need to make it a priority. B and I grabbed dinner and drinks and just talked and talked. He is my absolute favorite person and I’m so lucky to have married him and created this gorgeous, whacky, precious family with him. I’m also extremely grateful to have a young, vibrant mom who hops on airplanes and flies all over the country to spend time with all her granddaughters. Feeling extremely grateful today…..extremely hot….and extremely grateful.
Lookin’ a little pink in the cheeks
When you tossed a coin in the fountain the “statues” blew you a kiss.
Annabelle was intrigued. Gwyneth; not so much.
Happy Father’s Day to this guy! He sure set the bar awfully high.

louisville

B had a super busy weekend at the kitchen. He was catering several events and none required baking so the girls and I were on our own. We decided to check out the Louisville farmers market….and little did we know the Taste of Louisville was happening as well. I’m not a gal for crowds and just as I was about to turn in around and head home a parking spot opened right in front of our eyes and just steps from the festival. We couldn’t resist staying and checking everything out.
The girls found hoola hoops, and chocolate covered strawberries and it was a beautiful day for lunch outside — which is another thing I usually avoid, but the girls found a table at one of our favorite restaurants right in the middle of the action. It was a great spot for people watching.
Ella joined us for dinner and a sleepover. The girls spent the evening making chalk designs on the sidewalk, painting rocks and enjoying snow cones. B had to run to the mall for new work shoes and Annabelle tagged along with him. She scored herself a new pair of dangly earrings. It was a good night for all.
