avs vs coyotes

Our week was jam-packed and we were thrilled when Friday finally rolled around and we could have a little fun together. We got some last minute tickets to the Avalanche game and oh boy, that was a blast! The Avs tied up the game in the last few minutes and won it in a shoot out. It was awesome! The crowd was so loud and we had a blast cheering for our home team.

That Annabelle is going through an anti-picture phase. I told her I don’t care if she smiles or not, I’m still taking picture of her and I’m still going to post them on here. She gives me some very silly faces and honestly, they crack me up and I love it. (I’m fairly certain she is just trying to get my goat by being sassy in pictures, so it will be sad for her when she realizes that I actually like it… ha!)

hello dolly

Gwyneth’s first request for the night was for a picture with the big blue bear bottom.
Butt, of course. 🙂
We kicked off our girls night with dinner at Corrine’s.  This restaurant is so hit or miss for me. My first few visits were great, but it hasn’t quite lived up to those expectations since. They do offer a complimentary pre-theater drink which is lovely…
We made it over to the theater with plenty of time to spare.
I asked for one picture and got a whole lot of silly…
We had box seats which are always a hit with these girls! Gwyneth loved the costumes and songs, but Annabelle just thought the show was ok. It was a bit too “old-timey” for them…their words exactly.

pixar in concert

We finally tried out The Med in Boulder for dinner this evening. Oh my goodness, how could we have waited so long??? It was so, so good. Annabelle enjoyed her signature Cesar salad, Gwyneth got pasta, and B and I shared tapas. We are already planning our next visit – it was that good.
We headed to the Boulder Philharmonic to see Pixar in Concert. It was a great show! We all really enjoyed ourselves and had such a wonderful evening together. I love when our little family goes out for these little adventures. We make such beautiful memories.

oliver!

The girls and I scooted up to the Candlight for a night of Theater. B really truly dislikes the food at this theater and it seems to almost make him angry. A bad meal can definitely ruin his night. I don’t love the food, but I feel like he always gets the worst dish. The meal is worth it to me to watch a fun show, but no so much for him. I decided to give him a break and no longer torture him. I purchased season tickets for just the girls and me.

Naturally, our first show with out him the food was all fresh and quite good. We saw the show Oliver!.  Gwyneth thought it was a little dark. Annabelle said it was one of her all-time favorites. I really enjoyed it and although I’ve never seen the movie I was familiar with quite a few of the songs. It definitely ranks high on our list of favorite shows and best nights of food…..and of course, it was the one show that B didn’t go with us. Isn’t that how life just seems to work out sometimes???

avalanche vs devils

It was a great day for some hockey. B and I always have been a bit unconventional on St Patty’s day. For the past few years (almost 20) we’ve gone for Mexican food. It’s always been our little joke to avoid the green beers and big crowds. We’re just fine with tacos and margaritas and not fighting for a spot at the bar, thank you very much.

This year we opted for an Avs game. Our whole family roots for the home team and loves the sport…although Gwyneth loves it the most.

The Avalanche pulled off the win!

After the game we had a little time for some people watching. The girls requested a sunny seat on the Ted’s patio. We even managed to sneak in a little green. 😉

avalanche vs blues

Gwyneth went for a sleepover to celebrate her friend, Ella’s birthday and B had to work so Yaya, Annabelle and I headed downtown for the Avalanche game.
We grabbed a quick lunch at Brooklyn’s before the game.
And then off to the game. We had great seats and had a blast! The Avs ended up losing to the Blues but we had fun anyway.
We had a wonderful time rooting for our Avalanche and walked out to beautiful flutters of snow. Such a fun day!

wizard of oz ballet

The girls and I had tickets for the ballet tonight and miraculously B didn’t have to work. He’s not a big fan of the ballet, but wanted to join us for the night downtown. We took advantage of a great deal to stay at the Ritz which included an upgrade to club level.
We checked in and then enjoyed lots of snacks. In fact, we enjoyed so many snacks that we we cancelled our dinner reservations because no one was hungry before the show.
The Ritz’s signature cookie. My absolute favorite. YUM!!
pretty girls ready for the show

B walked us down to the ballet and then explored the theater district before heading back to the club. He enjoyed some complimentary beverages and sports while we enjoyed the ballet. It was a pretty perfect night for all.

I wouldn’t recommend the box seats at the ballet. I love them at the Buelle theater, but at the ballet there are some blind spots. It makes the girls feel fancy but they agreed that the views are not the best.

The performance was delightful. The highlight was definitely those ruby slipper toe shoes.
Walking back to the hotel, the city was emerald.

The girls decided they needed a little snack on the way back so we stopped in at Rock Bottom. I’m not sure where Annabelle learned the proper techniques for pouring beer, but she determined her iced tea was the correct two finger pour. Ha! That girl.

Gwyneth and B were done and headed back to the hotel. Annabelle is my party girl and ordered us another round. We sat and watched the Nuggets game and enjoyed raspberry iced tea. What a wonderful night!

rock of ages

We are really on an incredible roll with shows these days! B and I went to see Rock of Ages at the Denver Performing Arts Complex. This is our third time seeing this show and it is still one of our absolute favorites. The music is the best!
We arrived home with this. Kind of a bummer ending to the weekend. We made it home safely and had a great weekend so we won’t dwell too much on that. (Stupid nail in the road…)

amadeus

B and the girls spent the day together while I met up with my fabulous friend Lisa. We met downtown and had a blast!
We grabbed lunch at Giordano’s. It’s pretty new to Colorado but oh my, it brought back some great Chicago memories. I’ve never been much of a fan of the deep dish, but the thin crust is phenomenal. That pizza sure hits the spot!
We spent the afternoon at a sports bar overlooking 16th Street Mall. We talked, talked, talked the entire day away. We talked so long dinner even got away from us. We shared some jalapeno tots and then scooted off to our show.
We had tickets to see Amadeus at the symphony. It was Lisa’s first visit to the symphony and it was a good one. I couldn’t have asked for a better day downtown with this amazing friend of mine. (And of course a big thank you for B to being an awesome husband.)

nunsense

We’ve been on a roll seeing great live shows!
Tonight all four of us went to see Nunsense at the Candlelight Theater. The food is definitely not gourmet, but man oh man, I think they save the worst for B. He got a bit grumpy because his food was cold and not good at all. Gwyneth was a little grouchy about her dessert which she didn’t like either.
Luckily we were able to get past the food and enjoy the hilarious show. We had front row seats and they even picked on B a bit. We laughed our way through the show and we all really thought it was a hit.
