pixar in concert

We finally tried out The Med in Boulder for dinner this evening. Oh my goodness, how could we have waited so long??? It was so, so good. Annabelle enjoyed her signature Cesar salad, Gwyneth got pasta, and B and I shared tapas. We are already planning our next visit – it was that good.
We headed to the Boulder Philharmonic to see Pixar in Concert. It was a great show! We all really enjoyed ourselves and had such a wonderful evening together. I love when our little family goes out for these little adventures. We make such beautiful memories.

oliver!

The girls and I scooted up to the Candlight for a night of Theater. B really truly dislikes the food at this theater and it seems to almost make him angry. A bad meal can definitely ruin his night. I don’t love the food, but I feel like he always gets the worst dish. The meal is worth it to me to watch a fun show, but no so much for him. I decided to give him a break and no longer torture him. I purchased season tickets for just the girls and me.

Naturally, our first show with out him the food was all fresh and quite good. We saw the show Oliver!.  Gwyneth thought it was a little dark. Annabelle said it was one of her all-time favorites. I really enjoyed it and although I’ve never seen the movie I was familiar with quite a few of the songs. It definitely ranks high on our list of favorite shows and best nights of food…..and of course, it was the one show that B didn’t go with us. Isn’t that how life just seems to work out sometimes???

books and flowers

I’m an anti-clutter kind of gal. If something doesn’t have a use or find a place in our home it is quickly out the door. I am definitely not a hoarder.

The one and only thing I tend to accumulate are books. I listen to quite a few audible books and try to get books on my ipad, but there’s just something about holding an actual book while I’m reading. I love it!

I love seeing my family with their own books. Laying around the living room together. Everyone enjoying a book of their own. Sometimes the same series. Sometimes even the same book (we’ve been known to buy multiple books of a series if we are all reading it — Harry Potter!). Everyone reading and quiet and together. It makes my heart happy.

I had to decide to either get rid of my some of my books or buy another bookcase. Sadly, I decided it was time to get rid of some books. Luckily I have friends who are vivacious readers as well. I invited my friend, Jade over to go through the books before I sent them off to the library as donations.

That gal showed up with a meal for us and flowers and took home a good stack of books with her. I have good, good people in my life. I can’t wait to hear what she thinks of them and love to follow my friends on Goodreads.

avalanche vs devils

It was a great day for some hockey. B and I always have been a bit unconventional on St Patty’s day. For the past few years (almost 20) we’ve gone for Mexican food. It’s always been our little joke to avoid the green beers and big crowds. We’re just fine with tacos and margaritas and not fighting for a spot at the bar, thank you very much.

This year we opted for an Avs game. Our whole family roots for the home team and loves the sport…although Gwyneth loves it the most.

The Avalanche pulled off the win!

After the game we had a little time for some people watching. The girls requested a sunny seat on the Ted’s patio. We even managed to sneak in a little green. 😉

sewing prep

Gwyneth loves sewing. She absolutely loves it! Her teacher, Bella offered a spring session and we jumped at the opportunity to sign her up.
Her classes are for 3 hours on Sundays for the next four weeks. She signed up with 3 other friends. Two will be making skirts and two making leggings. Gwyneth and her BFF, Ella, are making leggings and are excited to wear them to dance class together.
Bella took all the girls shopping to purchase their patterns and fabrics.

The girls all came back to our house for a late lunch and some afternoon fun.

celebrating with friends

The Tendlers invited us over for a celebration dinner for B’s birthday. They had just returned from a cruise and we were just back from San Antonio. We had lots of travel stories to share! We were so excited to share travel adventures and they may have even convinced me that I might want to go on a cruise.
We enjoyed delicious homemade pizza right from the grill. Yum, yum, yum!
After dinner we enjoyed homemade birthday cake and celebrate B’s birthday.
Such great friends spoiling our little family!
Making a wish! Ha!
Sweet friends

snow day

Tuesday evening while running errands and dropping children off at dance…IN MY TSHIRT and FLIP FLOPS…I received an email that school would be cancelled the next day. With the sun shining, I checked out the local news and over 160 schools had already announced closures for the following day. I kinda laughed to myself and thought it was some crazy Colorado nonsense.
We woke up the next morning to find rain and wind. I surely didn’t think it was worthy of cancelling the school day. Then the rain turned to snow and the temperatures really dropped and the winds really picked up. It was soon white out conditions. All 3 of my studios closed and we settled in for the “bomb cyclone”.
We did a whole lot of baking and reading and movie watching. We drank hot chocolate. We made root beer floats. It was fun to see the snow piling up outside. The girls went out to play in it while B shoveled.
We ended up with two snow days and then just like that the sun was back out, roads were clear, and the snow was melting. You gotta love Colorado!

happy birthday b

Happy birthday to my husband who lives life on the edge!

We returned home from vacation last night and got thrown right back in the swing of things with work, school and dance classes. I felt bad that we couldn’t take B out for a birthday celebration but the Monday night routine can be a bit hectic. We stayed close to home, grabbed a beer, and a quick dinner. He didn’t seem to mind and just asked that we all spend time together and everyone gets along. He’s such a dad.

san antonio • final pool day

Our final day was all about relaxing and soaking up the sun. Gwyneth liked the slides, while Annabelle prefered the larger pool. They both loved the lazy river. I joined them for a while and then finished up a book and watched them float by. I’m not sure I could have asked for a more relaxing vacation with this crew of mine.
Love that these little ladies pick out matching swim suits.
testing the waters…
A little chilly when you first hop in! Ha!
the view from our room
Not as thrilled about getting ready for dinner.
Just kidding, she was just annoyed that I was taking pictures.
And then it was time to say goodbye. We had to pack up and head home and leave behind all that beautiful sunshine. This trip, we have all decided will go down in the books as one of our favorites!
