Another Thursday and another delicious day in the kitchen. B whipped up gnocchi for us with two different sauces – a marinara and a pesto. Both are good, but the pesto is my favorite. He also added two new menu items this week – calzones and eggplant parmesan. We’ve been eating vegetarian for a month now and it’s been so nice adding more options to our menu. I didn’t think I would like it, but B can make everything delicious.
juniors | girl scout way
Tonight was the first meeting of Gwyneth’s new girl scout troop. She joined a new troop with just one friend from her old troop. She was kind of nervous although she does know a few of the girls from her old school. It’s always tough going into a new situation and I was really proud of her. I agreed to stay on as a co-leader so we’re in it together.
B was awesome and made us minestrone from scratch for dinner. It was amazing. It might just be the best soup I have ever had. He made us a lot so when the girl scouts arrived they ate some up too.
broncos vs raiders
Are you ready for some football???
We are having a blast with our Bronco season tickets this year! First stop was brunch at Public School. I have been wanting to try this restaurant for ages and I’m so glad we finally made it. It was delicious! We loved everything we ordered (pizza, salads, pancakes, etc). The blueberry pancakes were so good the girls ordered a second plate of them. I also wasn’t sad to order a spicy pumpkin ale. I’m ready for fall!
Off we headed to the Bronco game! I was a bit nervous about the Raiders fans, because my experience has always been that they are NUTS! It was pretty tame. Everyone was just ready to watch some good football.
Seriously, how awesome are these Broncos fans?
It was another nail-biter for the Broncos but they pulled off the win! What a game!
colorado history museum
My dad and Melissa drove down from Breck to spend the day with us downtown. Poor B had to work but he was able to meet us for dinner that evening.
I had a free hotel room on hotels.com and we were heading to the Bronco game the following day so we decided to stay downtown. Oh, I do love a little staycation – especially downtown. It reminds me so much of the times we lived in the city. I love being able to give the girls even just a little taste of that (just a tiny nibble really).
We’ve become big fans of the Denver Born Hotel. They have lovely rooms, great location, and excellent amenities including free rides in a Tesla to the Bronco stadium.
We spent most of our afternoon at the Colorado History Museum. I can not get enough of that museum, it’s one of my favorites in the city. I highly recommend it to anyone. I thought we’d spend an hour or two but we spent much longer! It’s a hit with everyone.
My dad and Melissa are big baseball fans and I wanted them to see the Play Ball exhibit! It didn’t disappoint.
After dinner we headed back to the hotel to get cleaned up for dinner. We met up with B and his dad for dinner at Morton’s. I’m so glad B was able to make it down, but of course I didn’t get any pictures at dinner. I really do love taking pictures but I’m always nervous about annoying everyone with my camera. I need to get over that because the pictures are worth a little annoyance right?
We had a great visit with my dad and Melissa!
rockies vs arizona
B and I played hookie from work for the afternoon and went to the Rockies game. They are on fire right now and we have our fingers crossed that we’ll see some playoff action this season.
It was a gorgeous afternoon for some baseball. You really have to love Colorado! We got lucky with a little shade, a few afternoon beers and some big hits from our Rockies. We had to leave a bit early to pick up the girls from school, but we had a lot of fun while it lasted. I love that we were able to sneak away a little bit for some time together. That B still is my fav.

Time for some baseball!
broncos vs seattle
Our first game of the regular season and boy, was it a good one. We were all pretty pumped to get to the stadium and to cheer for our Broncos. It was a beautiful, sunny day with temps in the 90’s. That’s a little hot for football season, but our seats found the shade by the 2nd quarter and we were happy as can be.
We had our fair share of Seahawks fans around us and it was a bit obnoxious at times. It was a great lesson for the girls to see how to behave and how to really NOT behave. They loved all the drama on and off the field including a guy who sat two rows behind us, got in a fight with a Seahawks fan, spilled half his beer down mine and Gwyneth’s backs and then was ejected. It was super crazy and they loved it!
The game was a nail-biter and the Broncos pulled off a win! We had so much fun cheering for our home team and can’t wait to get back there again.
mary poppins
The girls and I had front row seats for opening night of Mary Poppins. We’ve seen it at the Performing Arts Center and it’s always been one of our favorites. This performance didn’t disappoint. The story is a classic and we love the music and dancing.
B had a catering event so he wasn’t able to go with us and we sure did miss him. He’s not a fan of the Disney musicals so I’m fairly certain we missed him more than he missed us this evening.
I asked the girls if they wanted to share a peach cobbler with me, because the peaches in Colorado are beyond amazing right now. They declined and each ordered a scoop of ice cream. When the desserts arrived guess which one they liked best….
bmk thursday
Just another lunch date at Blue Mountain Kitchen….believe me, I don’t take that for granted. Today I was spoiled with many dishes. We enjoyed shrimp scampi, ginger beef, cashew chicken, chicken tikka masala, and chicken Caesar salad. Each dish was more delicious than the next. We tried a bit of each and then packaged the rest up for our family meals this week. We’re going to eat well at our house!
I’ve got a pretty good gig taking these menu pictures. I hope we keep adding new items so these Thursday lunches never end!

painting wednesday
I have missed my painting days with the girls. We created lots of new projects over the summer and it was great to be in the studio with them. I haven’t been very motivated lately to create anything new, but got the bug last night.
I’ve been a reading fool lately but took a little break to paint. I made these three projects and can’t wait to see them glazed and fired.
This one is a little off-center which bugs me tremendously. I think it will be staying at the studio or it may just make me nuts.
Sometimes you just need a friendly reminder…

rockies vs giants
We have just a few more Rockies games for this season and they are looking good. I do believe they are in first place going into September. Not too shabby for our Rockies. We’re big fans and love going to the games.
Tonight they played San Francisco. It was kind of chilly but that didn’t bother us much. We grabbed some jackets and enjoyed the game. Annabelle was a bit worried about school work and asked to leave early. (so responsible!) We left after the 7th inning and listened to the rest of the game on the ride home. The Rockies pulled off the win!
