tooth

More missing teeth. More visits from the tooth fairy.

Annabelle wiggled and wiggled and wiggled and wiggled….and then wiggled some more. She was determined and finally out popped her little tooth.

Gwyneth has one super wiggly tooth on bottom but she is working on it and I expect the tooth fairy will be making another appearance at our house shortly.

pj

Every day should be pajama day. I love it. I mean, I seriously freakin’ love it.

The only thing better than my perfectly worn in, faded flannel jammie pants are princess night gowns and naturally, that’s what my ladies chose for school today. The girls take the bus so I didn’t see their arrival at school, but I was informed that Annabelle stepped off the bus in this flowing gown with her sunglasses on and waved like royalty to a friend of a mine. Could these girls be more fabulous? really?

yes, those are pink sparkle crocs:
and yes, those are Frozen flip flops:

fire

Gwyneth’s girl scout troop toured the local fire station. They even got to sit in the fire engine. Gwyneth’s favorite part was the ax they carry, which should probably worry me a bit. We had to cut our tour short because there was an actual emergency and they flew out of there with sirens blaring. I don’t think the kids were disappointed. The siren was a pretty bit hit.

volunteer

I am trying to squeeze in as much volunteer time at the school as work, life, the girls will allow me. They both get so excited when I come to school and I enjoy being helpful in the class — and if I’m completely honest, my favorite part is just meeting them for lunch so I can see them having fun with their friends.

Today was volunteer appreciation day in both classrooms and I was invited to both and tried to scurry between the two rooms. Mrs. Kaul’s kindergartners sang a song for us and I am not ashamed to admit that I cried. I am a softy for Miss Gwyneth Grace, my baby girl.  She is far too quickly growing up into a smart, beautiful, super tall, jokester. I have no idea how B and I ended up with this girl with such a sweet, kind, sensitive soul. Just one of those lucky, lucky mysteries.

I ran down to Annabelle’s class and joined 1st grade for cookies and lemonade. This year has been a difficult one for Annabelle. She has, shall we say, a smart wit and matching mouth. She is full of spunk, sass, and attitude and when channeled properly she is creative, kind, smart, and fabulous. If, let’s say, her personality is not quite appreciated, she uses her powers for evil rather than good and there is no channeling the beast. She wants to be the best at everything, and if that means she is the most rotten 1st grader, well then she will RULE THE ROTTEN! Do not challenge this child’s will. Direct her properly though and someday she will rule the world.

I have stayed up many nights worrying about this girl and cried many tears hoping for easier times. But she never gave up. She worked hard. She wasn’t deterred. Her fire still burns full-flame and she has added more and more friends to her arsenal. Her friendships are her joy and are very, very important to her. Second grade will be better, I know it. Annabelle has willed it and so it will be.

Always finding a reason to laugh and smile and be happy. It’s not possible for me to be more proud.

Here’s the little card we made for Gwyneth’s unbirthday party to share with friends. One little boy told me “This is very, very special. I have to put this back in the envelope so it doesn’t get messed up. Yeah, This is very, very special”.   And my day was complete…

mom

Mother’s Day has to be one of the best days of the year. We woke up to snow which was kind of crazy, but just another good excuse to snuggle up with my girls. B planned a very special day for me. We went for brunch at Village Tavern and then went to see Bears at the movie theater. Good food and movies  — these are a few of my favorite things.

He got the girls to clean the house even:

And they gave me perfect cards. Gwyneth knows I like dogs but I think Annabelle really nailed my personality with the kitten in the tub with the glass of wine.

We enjoyed our quiet, snowy evening with a gourmet meal at home prepared by the house Chef. He invited the Johnson’s to join us as well. The dads really outdid themselves. We also received the official news that the Johnson’s are moving to California. Kristen had warned me it might be coming and I have cried and cried, but I managed to hold it together through dinner. Gwyneth has reminded me that I have to focus on the good times (oh wise, little one) but I must admit that I am devastated to see them go. I had some more tears after they left but I’m grateful our families could celebrate together today. Kristen is an amazing mother and how special for us to be able to share this day together with our families!

I have to admit, I like a good May snow storm:

happy unbirthday: gwyneth

Gwyneth’s teacher assigned all the summer birthdays a special “unbirthday” to celebrate with the class. Her poor teacher has a lot of summer birthdays so the last three weeks of school meant cupcakes and treats every day. Gwyneth’s celebration was today and she was so, so excited. She woke up this morning and screamed “it’s my unbirthday”, to which B replied “everyday but your actual birthday is your unbirthday”. Have  I ever mentioned how fun mornings are at our house???

Gwyneth and Jenna came up with their own twin day to celebrate today as well:
We made cards for all her friends and she handed out “Olaf Snack Mix”.

Getting some much needed help from her teacher:

I’m so glad we could celebrate with her class. It has been a great classroom and she has met some fabulous little kids.

tea

Tea parties for all the ladies today!
Gwyneth was invited to a princess tea party at her friend Emily’s house. Oh my goodness was she excited. Lots of friends from school, lots of princesses, and lemonade instead of tea – perfection for this little gal:
The waiting is the hardest part:
Annabelle’s girl scout troop hosted a tea party at Color Me Mine for the Daisy’s and their moms. The girls enjoyed cupcakes and picked out tea sets for their cookies sales this year. Annabelle and I painted a fabulous pink and green tea seat together. I can’t wait to get it back and have a tea party with my little lady.
Annabelle really wants pink hair. I mean really, really wants pink hair. I don’t want her to use dyes — even if they are not permanent so we agreed on the clip in pink hair. It is sassy and fabulous.

boulder babe

We spent a beautifully, peaceful day in Boulder. First stop was lunch at Boulder Beer.  They had quite the collection of beers and root beer. Annabelle was intrigued….

Next stop: Farmers Market

Gwyneth was born in Boulder and she absolutely loves it. She is definitely in her element. We explored the farmers market and splashed around in the river (it was freezing!). And then of course finished off our adventure with ice cream.

opening day

Today was assessment day so the girls just had to go in for testing for an hour in the morning. They both did great. Gwyneth is ready for Algebra III but can NOT stop talking in class. Annabelle has worked so hard and mastered her chapter books but is still managing to plan her high school prom on the side. They are a bit social. They are smart, but goodness those girls like to talk.

Spent the morning at the park. No fear of concussions around here. (I should probably drink more….)

Monkey see, monkey do

Lunch at Lucky Pies pizza. Yum!

Off to Elitch’s for opening day. The girls received season passes from Poppy and Melissa for Christmas. They had a promotion for a sneak preview of the park, free drink cups with $.99 refills for the summer, and….I can’t remember what sounded so great to make us do this? It was packed! We had fun being silly together and riding a few rides though. A few lines can’t slow us down.

Annabelle can ride almost all of the roller coasters now and we created our plan of attack for the summer. Gwyneth is not far behind in height, but has ZERO interest and plans to find out how many times she can ride the Spider on one season pass. Guiness records – call us.

Note: if you see the Meyer girls on bumper cars….RUN!!
They are ruthless. They are a unified team. They require no speech between them. Not even eye contact.  Be warned,  as you are trying to flee one, the other will jackknife you and they will offer no apologies. They are wicked and fierce and they ride over and over and over again. Our passes may be revoked before June.
