princess party

The Johnson girls joined us for a Frozen princess party. The girls dressed up in their sweetest dresses. They know their time together here in Colorado is coming to an end soon and they are taking full advantage.

We enjoyed sandwiches and fruit and Kristen baked an unbelievable cake for the gals.
Brought out all their Frozen gear for the play date.
just as delicious as it was pretty:
I’m not sure how amused Rosie was with Gwyneth’s spells…
My girls adore little Sophie. They will follow her around anywhere.

shake

Tonight we went out to celebrate Annabelle’s positive principal’s office referral from the end of the school year. She received a free milk shake and both kids eat free on Mondays. Not too shabby.

When we sat down to order and Annabelle presented her coupon the manager made a very big deal of her award and we are very proud of her!

All right, all right, all right…
And we’re not total cheap, jerky parents — Gwyneth got a shake too. We figured since we weren’t buying Annabelle’s shake or their meals, we could splurge and get her a drink. That’s just the kind of fabulous parents that we are…

american girl doll camp

Which is more fabulous:  dancing or American Girls? Can’t decided? Then how about combine them for a day camp. Yep, it was Happiness and that’s what a bold, capital H.

I actually had a credit from the girls old dancing school, so both girls could attend the camp for free. Now, the whole family was happy!

B dropped off the girls and I went back to get them and was able to see the cute little performance at the end. My friend Lori’s daughter, Kaelyn was there too and they just adore her.

maleficent

Annabelle has no fear and couldn’t wait to see this movie. Gwyneth was having none of it.

I’m glad Gwyneth decided not to go, because I think it would have been too scary for her. She is a gentle little soul and let’s be honest, she’s a bit of a chicken. This is what I believe is commonly referred to as “the pot calling the kettle black”. Guilty.

Annabelle was brave and absolutely loved the movie. I thought it had great special effects, but a limited story line. There was very little dialogue, but there was a lot of Angelina Jolie with some intense and bit horrifying cheek bones, flying around with huge wings and casting spells to make people float around. Odd? Perhaps, but fabulousness for a 6 year old and Annabelle has already requested to be Maleficent for Halloween rather than Elsa! The tides may be turning at the Meyer house….

inks and drinks

Amy, Annabelle and I went for a painting party. It wasn’t so much as a party but a private painting session. We were the only ones there. It was great though because I got to catch up with Amy and we all got to paint whatever we wanted. Of course I went right for the peacock, but Annabelle wanted to paint her own rainbow.

Missi was suppose to join us but she wasn’t feeling well, so she kindly gave Annabelle her groupon. We all got sucked in by the groupon but I would definitely go back — it was a really nice, fun studio.

I am not a painter and the last time I went to do this I gave my canvas to Goodwill the very next day. I’m thinking it was just really fantastic company because I really loved the experience this time around!

If anyone asks I tell them Gwyneth painted this….although it might be insulting for a five year old.

chalk art festival

We headed downtown to the Chalk Art Festival at Larimer Square. It was the first day of the event so the artists were just getting started. It was super crowded but the sidewalk art was amazing.

We all had different favorites….well, the girls and I did. I don’t think B actually had a favorite. I think he checked out the pictures for a few minutes and then wanted to head to dinner, which isn’t a bad choice either. We grabbed dinner at Mellow Mushroom and while we were eating the girls pretended to be sidewalk artists and made us some chalk art on our menu’s.

Gwyneth’s favorite:

My favorite:
Annabelle’s favorite:

bubbles

After a little jumping mishap on the Johnson’s trampoline, Gwyneth iced up her knee and blew some bubbles. Once the bubbles were flying the knee seemed to heal up just fine.

I don’t have a lot of things like this on my bucket list, but the ones I do are some of my favorites. I am an on-the-go kind of gal. I love to be running somewhere or making something and don’t really like to be still. Even when I’m sitting down watching a Rockies game on tv with B I have to be updating my blog or reading a book. I feel like my day was best spent when I feel just a bit overwhelmed (that’s not quite healthy right?).

Annabelle has this type of personality it seems too. She is always asking for the next outing or putting her swim suit on and begging to the go to the pool. Gwyneth seems to be more at peace doing a craft or snuggling on the couch with her dad watching Frozen, I mean a baseball game (sorry, B).

So, Gwyneth got some downtime and the girls blew lots of bubbles.  I didn’t rush them and I didn’t get anxious, I may have gone in for my book after a half hour, but I am who I am.

happy birthday: rosie

We celebrated Rosie’s 5th birthday and of course Kristen outdid herself. The girls had a blast celebrating together and it’s really just hard to believe that Rosie is five. They moved next door to us when she was just a baby. How lucky we’ve been to be able to watch her grow in to such a wonderful little girl.

bay

We joined the Johnson’s for a very fun morning at the Bay. It’s a great little water park and we had it nearly to ourselves. Annabelle is our little fish and we can’t keep her out of the water while Gwyneth is not quite so brave…..until today! Gwyneth has found her water park groove and finally loves the slides. She still doesn’t love to put her face underwater, but it’s worth it for the slides now. Her summer just got a lot more exciting!

I wrapped ’em up like little burritos!

sunflower farm

I’ve heard so much about this place and we were finally able to sneak in a trip before it closed for summer camps. It was a bit rainy but no one seemed to mind. The girls absolutely loved this farm and had a blast!

I’m more of a city girl, but this was basically a peacock farm. A PEACOCK FARM! So, yeah I liked it.
