drive in

While Annabelle was in Pom Pom class this morning Gwyneth and I went for a Paint A Story class. She painted a flower pot and a little spoon.
The Merrill’s invited us to a drive in movie tonight. I went when I was a kid, but let’s be honest, that was a really long time ago. B and the girls have never been so it was a pretty exciting adventure for us. The girls put on their pj’s and filled the trunk with their blankets, bean bags, and stuffed animals. They always love to see the Merrill girls too so tonight was a big, big hit!

pom pom

Annabelle attended pom pom camp this week. She did great and learned lots of new routines and moves. She is signed up for Pom’s class in the fall and I’m certain we’ll be seeing these moves practiced around the house often!

yaya time

While we were away YaYa kept the girls so busy. They did so many fun things!
Trip to McDonalds:
Movie in the park:

Crashed a wedding:
Peddle boating:
Zoo:

Play at the rec center:

The girls are so lucky to have such a wonderful YaYa!

happy birthday: amy and gus

YaYa watched the girls for us for several day so we could go away with friends to celebrate Amy’s 30th and Gus’ 40th birthdays. We started the long weekend with a Journey and Steve Miller Band concert. It was a blast and I danced my little heart out. Love these peeps and we had a great time.

We headed to Breckenridge for a weekend of relaxing and celebrating. We had delicious food, did a pub crawl and had lots of laughs. I have a few more pictures to post, but can’t seem to upload them right now, but they will be here soon.
Once we got home, YaYa and I took the girls to Elitch’s.
Thanks so much to YaYa for hanging out with the girls so we could get away for a few days. We are all very spoiled.

self portraits

The girls took a self portrait class at the Wow Museum. They had a blast painting. It was creative and fun and they seemed to really enjoy it. I’m hoping to get them in a few more art courses to offset all the dance classes that they take. I know it’s all artsy and creative and they should probably get out there and play some soccer or get a little more dirty but let’s be honest. That just seems really painful for me trying to drag them kicking and screaming. So dancing and painting we shall go.

YaYa flew in tonight for a special visit with the girls. They were so, so excited to see her!

tours

We went on a lot of tours today!

We started the morning at the Federal Reserve Bank. We got a great tour and a special performance by the explosive sniffing dogs. That of course, was the girls’ favorite part.

We also hit the candy factory for the tour. The girls were not sad about that either. Big tour day and no disappointments.

happy birthday: brielle

Annabelle and Gwyneth both attended Brielle’s birthday party this morning. It was all water toys in the backyard including what I can only describe as hamster balls in a giant pool. They flippin’ loved it. It was a great birthday party and the girls got to visit with lots of kids from the neighborhood and from school.
Annabelle celebrated her friend Jaylen’s birthday party at the American Girl Store. Jaylen was able to pick out a new doll and the girls who had dolls brought theirs along. They got their nails done and then celebrated with a BBQ back at Jaylen’s house.
Tonight we hosted the 4th Annual Shuffleboard tournament. We had a great turn out with lots of trash talkin’. Lansing and Sheila won again — two years in a row. Oh, they are just going to be unbearable until we can dethrone them next year!
Congrats, Tyler’s!!

trolley

Gwyneth’s Godmother is in town and we were lucky enough to meet for lunch! The girls have never had lunch in the trolley at the Old Spaghetti Factory and we were able to land a table. They were pretty worked up and about seeing Sarah and also pretty darn excited about the table in the trolley. Sarah and I were able to catch up a bit amid the madness. She also brought birthday gifts which consisted of books and coffee gift cards….oh how well this dear friend knows us!

After lunch, we toured the firefighters museum. I like this museum and it gives an interesting summary of the fire department in Denver. The girls never seem to tire of it either.
B and I had some work to get done and didn’t want the girls sitting around bored on a Friday night. We completed tax forms at Mid Air Adventures while the girls rock climbed and zip lined. Like I said before, we’re working in interesting places these days and doing our best to get everything done and keep everyone happy. Check back in at the end of the summer and I’ll let you know how that’s going.

skate

This may have been our busiest day of the summer yet.

Day 3 ballet camp: Sofia the 1st

After camp each of the girls had a friend join them at Skate City. These are super sweet girls and believe it or not, these 4 girls together are far less work for me than just my 2 alone. My summer has been interesting where I work and today it happened to be at Skate City.

We had another show this evening. We went to see Peter Pan at the Candlelight Dinner Theater. B was done with the shows and needed the evening to work, so luckily Misti was available to join us. The girls absolutely loved the show. We had great seats and although the food is never fabulous at these things we had a wonderful, wonderful girls night out.

dollar day

The girls have a blast going on dollar store shopping sprees. This is something we do every summer and they absolutely love it. They each get $11 and can pick out 10 things (taxes!) — and they get to keep the change (about 15 cents!)
This year it was all about school supplies and crafts. They got glitter and tape and staplers and pens and Annabelle got a water soaker just to keep her sister on her toes.
I love watching them interact with the cashier. I don’t help them at all. They have to say their “hello’s” and answer the “how are you today’s?” and present their items and pay for them all by themselves. They get a little shy but I’m quite impressed with their little manners and counting out their money and making sure they get proper change (Gwyneth is big on that one!). They are quite pleased with themselves and their crap, I mean fabulous dollar store finds!
It was so freakin’ hot today…and everyone knows how well I deal with the heat, right?
For some crazy reason I agreed to take the girls to Boondocks and let them race go-carts. Add another 1 million degrees to the already 100 degree day! Ah well, they had a great time racing and I survived…maybe not with a smile but I survived.
These gals are raising machines. Annabelle spent most of the race in the lead and then got bumped by another little boy in the last lap. Gwyneth inched past them for the win. It was epic, it was a nail biter, it was a big ol’ fight at the end about who is the rightful winner and a rematch has been challenged!
Annabelle with a serious lead!
And this is when Gwyneth makes her move…
Cooling off afterwards in the arcarde.
Gwyneth had a playdate this afternoon and Annabelle went for a sleepover at Sofia’s house. Let’s just say that Gwyneth may have been a little spoiled with her sister away for the night.
B has a sushi party coming up in a few weeks so he’s been practicing on us. Life ain’t bad around here.
A little ice cream dessert.
Gwyneth has princess ballet camp tomorrow and decided on a “Brave” theme. She even wanted the curly hair and dressed her American Girl doll up to match. This little lady really missed Annabelle and even asked to sleep in Annabelle’s bed. I think it was to snoop around in her big sister’s things, but I’m going to give her the benefit of the doubt and believe she just missed her.
