first brownie meeting

Annabelle joined a new troop at her school and tonight was her first meeting. She’s back in a group with so many of the great gals from her kindergarten class. I love this group of little ladies and Annabelle fell right back in step with them. She spent the entire time laughing and smiling and I know this going to be a perfect fit for her.
This is her Elvis impression. It’s more of a wink than a curled lip but she’s mastering the swagger.

math genius

Today Annabelle got a perfect score on her math skills mastery. Woo hoo! We told her we could go out to celebrate. She requested painting pottery, Buffalo Wild Wings, and then ice cream for dessert. She is persuasive but we talked her down to just dinner that included some congratulatory french fries.

ballet

Gwyneth moved up to new dance classes this year also. She is taking three classes: advanced ballet, tap/jazz combo, and hip hop. She is in a class again with her sweet little friend Paige and couldn’t be happier.

bird feeders

Girl Scouts are back for Miss Gwyneth. We had our first meeting of the year at our house. The girls made sticky icky bird feeders. Some of the girls were not so thrilled about getting messy. Of course, Gwyneth loved it.

jazz and poms

Dancing school started back up again this year. I don’t think B had a long enough break, but the girls and I are happy to get back to it. I’m a sucker for the dance classes and although it’s a time suck and huge chauffeuring commitment, I really do love it.

Annabelle is taking FIVE classes this year. She is so flippin’ happy. She moved up to the big kid classes with Tap, Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, and Poms. Her ability to take five classes is completely contingent on her grades. If school works suffers, bye bye dance. She’s pretty dedicated – she came right home from school, sat down and did her homework without being asked, and then ran upstairs to get ready for dance. I was impressed, but had to remind myself it’s the first week. I’ll check back in on the enthusiasm for homework in a month.

This was her nervous face because she’s moving up to the big kid classes.

showing us her new moves.
and then….um…well, ok.
highlight of the year = jazz shoes. She’s in love!

picture day

Today was picture day at school and the girls rocked some serious fashionista styles. I love these boots and kinda wish I had a pair too. So sassy on my fabulous little ladies. Now let’s wait and see how those goofy school pictures turned out…

weekend whirl

Wow, we are definitely back in the swing of things. We jumped in with both feet and haven’t slowed down. The first week of school went great. Both girls love, love, love their teachers.

Friday night, Jenna and Ruby joined us for pizza and a movie night. Great ending to a busy week.

Saturday we went to the Shaver’s house to celebrate Asher’s 3rd birthday and Sunday we went to Emily’s house for a delish Yemen lunch with the Efrati’s. And I was really out of it and didn’t get my camera out at all. Boo! We had a fun weekend with friends, but you’ll have to take my word for it. 😉

school

Back to school!!

We have had a fun and busy summer, but it’s time to get back to business.

Annabelle is ready for 2nd grade!

Miss Gwyneth is excited for 1st grade!
Off to the bus stop. Annabelle was in a hurry to get in line for a prime seat on the bus.
This year between us and the Shaver’s we are loading up the bus.
We have two 2nd graders, a 1st grader and a kindergartner.
Thing are about to get more interesting….
The girls both had a great day at school today and we headed for ice cream to celebrate. We’re looking forward to a busy, successful year ahead.
Love these ladies!

night before

We squeezed in as much fun as possible on our last day of summer break.

We started the morning with breakfast with Ms. Shennon, Jenna and Ruby at Super Mini Walnut Café. Yum, Yum,Yum. Then off to Berry Patch Farms to pick strawberries. The fields were a bit picked over, but the girls were great hunters and found lots of ripe, red berries.

We printed off all our pictures from our summer bucket list and made a scrapbook. We did it!! All 100 clothes pins complete. Woo hoo!

We relaxed and had a very quiet night to get ready for school. The girls gathered their baby dolls for some reading time.

We are making our way through the “Who was…” kids biography series. Tonight we finished Who Is Elvis Presley and we all loved it. The girls are now on a mission to visit Graceland.

Annabelle read Gwyneth The Night Before First Grade because she is an old pro now. It was heartwarming to see these girls so sweet together (especially after some excessive bickering this summer….).

My, oh my how things have changed since this time last year.

open house

We surprised the girls with one last trip to Elitch’s before school starts. It was a little overcast and a lot of kids have already started school so we didn’t waste much time in lines. Gwyneth and I did lots of spinning rides while Annabelle and BJ did the roller coasters.
We cleaned up and headed off to open house at school. The girls were both able to meet their new teachers and put their supplies in their new desks.
