wynkoop

I realized my patience has been growing thin these past few days. I haven’t been feeling well and haven’t been getting much sleep which is a bad combo. I got home from work today, made dinner, and Annabelle impressed me by eating an entire taco and two helpings of guacamole. She said “taco, please” and “gacamole” which she eats with “crackers” (aka tortilla chips). GG was an angel and although she skipped her afternoon nap she was nothing but sweet all night long. And then bath time hit….

Annabelle has turned in to a maniac in the tub. She likes to play and splash, but don’t even think about washing her hair. She hates it! She will pour water over GG’s head but if you come near her with the water bucket – look out! She screams!! Not sweet little ‘no, momma’s’ but blood curdling, sounds like we’re murdering her, SCREAMS! She stands up, splashes water over the side of the tub and SCREAMS! If you’re bathing her, come prepared in full rain gear. Unfortunately she had played in the sandbox today so she had to get her hair washed and she let me have it. I’m surprised the neighbors didn’t call the police on us! When she gets going like that it freaks GG out (quite understandably!) so GG was wailing, Annabelle was SCREAMING and I was soaking wet. Lesson learned – on hair washing nights the girls bathe separately and B and I will have to play a heated game of rock, paper, scissors to see who bathes which girl! Fair warning B – I’ll cheat.

After we calmed the girls down, got them in pj’s and it was close to bedtime, I realized it was time for a much needed cocktail with my dear friend Consuelo. She suggested we meet at Wynkoop which is an old favorite of mine and I haven’t been in years. Walking in the door brought back many many fun (and some rather painful!) memories. It was such a nice treat to get out and catch up with Consuelo. It’s always a good time with her! I came home relaxed, mellow, and ready to tackle tomorrow’s bath time. Getting out occassionally with my girlfriends really makes me a better mom and I know B welcomes the peace and quiet. I’m so lucky to be a momma to such beautiful, smart, and comedic girls, I have a wonderful and hilarious husband, and entertaining and supportive girlfriends. Now if I can just conquer bath time I’ll conquer the world!

Wipeout

My KC pal, Erica, first gave me the heads up about this show and I couldn’t have been more excited to tune in. These people are lunatics and there is so much falling down I can hardly handle it. B, Annabelle, and I laughed so hard – and either Annabelle has the same horrible sense of humor that I do and loves to watch people fall down or she is a really good faker. She was laughing so hard and kept asking us for ‘mo, mo, mo’ when it was a commercial break.

I’m pretty sure I’m not winning Mother of the Year for letting her watch this show but wow, it was funny!

Very Tired

Tonight was a very quiet evening at the Meyer house. Both girls were up last night so B and I were just exhausted. I have always felt so very fortunate for how well my girls sleep during the night but it’s a shock to the system when they have a rough night. I don’t function well without sleep – proof of that is after my 1:30 presentation my boss told me I should probably hit a Starbucks before our 3:00 presentation. Ouch! But he was definitely right!

B made dinner for us and we had a relaxing night playing with the girls. Annabelle surprised us by reciting her entire ABC’s including the ‘next time won’t you sing with me’. Some of the letters get a little blurred together in the middle (LMNOP) but she keeps the song going and doesn’t skip a beat. I’m so proud of her. Her favorite parts are “QRS” and “WXYZ” . She finishes with a gusto and applauds her efforts!

Gwyneth continues to amaze us as she grows and changes daily. She waves, claps, crawls, pulls up and is expanding her vocabulary. I’m surprised by how much she is saying already – hi, Momma, Dadda, and no. I’m saddened that the ‘no’ came so early but with a nearly 2 year old sister it was to be expected. Gwyneth has learned to give high-fives so her and Annabelle were high-fivin’ it all night and laughing laughing laughing! She is quite a little dancer and has perfected the head bang. She is our little rocker girl. She is at a wonderful age and it takes very little effort to get her belly laughing. I love love love it!

What a mess!
Lucky girl with a mouth full of cookies.
She can thank her Godfather for leaving golden Oreo’s behind.
When I dropped Gwyneth off at daycare in this dress her teacher said she looked like she should be heading in to the office. Ha! She is quite the sweet little professional. We just need to get her a mini laptop bag and she’ll be all set.

wingmen

Sadly our dear friends had to return to Columbus this morning. We had a wonderful visit with them. Yesterday we had a little adult time by dropping the girls off at daycare. We got in some shopping, where the girls were the recipients of some sweet new outfits from Diane. They coordinate but don’t match so B will be very happy. We had lunch at the Wildflower Tea House and then saw the movie “Ghosts of Girlfriends Past”. Wow, what a stinker that was! I would not recommend it – not even wasting your time when its on video. Has Matthew McConaughey made a good movie since “Dazed and Confused”??? Ooops, lost focus there…moving right along…after the movie we picked up the girls from daycare and played, played, played at home.

We wore the girls out and they went to bed without a fuss and the guys retired to the basement to watch “Top Gun” on the big screen with the surround sound blaring. They came up with some rather odd wingmen names from a British Pub Menu which unfortunatley will probably stick. Diane and I watched “Locked Up Abroad” and she helped me with Annabelle’s birthday invitations. She was such a big help that I was able to drop them off to Annabelle’s daycare buddies this morning!

We were all very sad to see them go and miss them already. We look forward to their next visit very soon!

Here are some highlight photos from the weekend:

GG is adorable in her dadda’s hat
My little Annabelle was not feeling well on Saturday and was fighting an ear infection.
Annabelle was in needed of some snugglin’ when she wasn’t feeling well and her Godmother was to the rescue. The girls are not quite sure what to think of this….

There was a bubble machine outside the aquarium and Annabelle really wanted to catch the bubbles…in her mouth! Notice little GG in the stroller trying to reach out and grab the bubbles…

You gotta love those adorable cheeks!!!

Gwyneth had the best time on the carousel with Diane!

Diane and Robert – thank you for visiting us!! We miss you already!

Annabelle’s Godparents are here

FINALLY!
After several delays, cancellations, and an overnight layover in Dallas Robert and Diane finally arrived in Colorado! We were so excited to see them. They arrived Friday and we spent the evening relaxing and playing with the girls. Annabelle was so happy to see her Godparents and there was plenty of love for GG too.
B went to the Nuggets game with Lansing which they lost to the Lakers. It was a horrible ending to the Nugs playoff run.
We spent Saturday morning at the Denver zoo. It was a gorgeous day for wandering around and we even went for a cruise on the carousel. GG loved it!!
Annabelle is such a lucky little girl to have such wonderful Godparents who adore her.

Robert showed off his “FAME” jump Diane has plenty of love for both my girls

GG’s first wagon trip through the zoo. She loved it and I don’t think we can go back to the stroller now. Diane, Robert, and Annabelle waiting in line for the carousel.

GG’s first ride on the carousel. She danced the entire time.

We had lunch at Wahoo’s then headed home for naps. Annabelle had a rough afternoon with an ear infection but was a happy girl by dinner time. When the girls went to bed we got started catching up on the last season of Big Love. We DVR’d the entire season for Diane.

Now that’s a playground!

Miss Gwyneth is trying her very hardest to give up her afternoon nap. She fought long and hard tonight but ended up taking a quick snooze on her momma before dinner. I wasn’t complaining either – I love when the girls are willing to snuggle with me.

We had a very big surprise for Annabelle after dinner tonight . She was eager to check it out…
Surprise!!
Birthday’s came a little early for the girls this year. Poppy & Melissa sent them a brand new playgym for the backyard! The girls got right down to business and are loving their new toy.Look at our big girl standing up.Annabelle loved the slide! She went down over and over and over again. Lots of fun crawling on the bridge
Thank you, Poppy and Melissa for the birthday gift for the girls. The girls love it! We’re going to put the playgym to very good use this summer.

GG & Mommy Time

I took the day off and had an aggressive agenda for the day. I was able to spend some much needed one-on-one time with Gwyneth and still cross off quite a few of my “to-do’s”. I always have a long long to do list but I feel like I’ve made a bit of progress.

We dropped Annabelle off at daycare in the morning and off to the grocery store. Gwyneth was in heaven to have the cart and her momma all to herself. She got lots of love from the other patrons and a very nice man even let me go ahead of him in the check-out line because he said she was just the sweetest little girl he had ever seen. I LOVE grocery shopping during the day during the week. The store was empty! GG and I had the run of the place.

After groceries, it was time for Gwyneth to get her 3rd haircut. 3 haircuts in 10 months. This girl is going to have quite a head of hair! It’s thick and grows quickly. I’m a bit envious. GG was such a big girl. She sat in the car chair all by herself. She sat very still and watched Elmo while they trimmed up her do.

Before pictures

After her haircut, we were off to get her 10 month pictures taken. She was all smiles while we waited but of course they were running behind so she started to get tired by the time it was her turn. Of course with those chubby cheeks and that sweet little face even if she doesn’t smile we get adorable shots. I’ll post a few of my favorites soon.

By this time Miss Gwyneth was ready for a nap so I took her to daycare so I could run more errands while she slept. B and I snuck off for an adults only lunch and then I ran all over town looking for a new coffee table – one that matches our couches but isn’t glass or wood for fear of a little one bashing their head on it. Gus came over to watch the Nuggets game with B (which was a horrible game!) and after getting the girls to bed I worked on Annabelle’s 2nd birthday party invitations. I decided to make them and have been way too ambitious. There’s 3 different colors of paper, a stamp, some ribbon, and a touch of Elmo involved. I’m really happy with them, I just hope they get done by the time she turns 3! I’ll post pictures as soon as they are complete.

Phew – what a busy busy day! It’s almost more work when I stay home from work! I need a vacation from my vacation day. 😉

More Zoo Pictures

Keith and I were both snap happy with our cameras at the zoo on Saturday, but Keith put me to shame. His pictures turned out great!! He got some of the cutest photos of the big kids chasing each other and the little kids taking in the fun-filled day.

Keith was even nice enough to save the pictures to his photography site so everyone can check out them: www.keithcarlsonphotography.com/zooday He really did such a great job of capturing the silliness of the day!

Sisters

The girls woke up from long naps and Annabelle was still out of sorts. It usually takes a full 24 hours to bounce back after her schedule gets messed up. GG was enjoying her after-nap bottle and Annabelle decided she would give her hand. Such sweet little sisters! GG is really good at holding her own bottle now, but decided ‘heck, this isn’t bad’ and let Annabelle do the work for her.

We met Sarah for dinner at California Pizza Kitchen in Boulder. GG was a little angel and ate 1 1/2 jars of food and hung out. Annabelle ate all the cheese off her pizza and got a bit antsy. B and I took turns chasing after her.
