happy birthday, grandpa

We headed over to Grandma and Grandpa Meyer’s to celebrate Grandpa’s and Jeff’s birthdays. Grandpa Bob is still moving pretty slow with his broken ribs so B manned the grill. The girls enjoyed playing with their cousins and spending time with their family.

Little Reagan is starting to play with GG and is really sweet with her.

CousinsGwyneth had her first taste of jello and loved it! Her little face and hands were stained red. Most went in her mouth but she proceeded to dump the rest of her bowl on the carpet which Grandma Carole just had cleaned. DOH! B and I spent quite some time on our hands and knees scrubbing the carpet and trying to get the red jello stain out. Even with a little spilled Jello, you just can’t be mad at this little face…..

Where the Meyer’s are Giants…

We don’t get many opportunies to feel tall, so Tiny Town was a big hit! We ventured to the foothills of Morrison and spent the morning checking out the tiny village with the Carlson’s. B and Keith both went as kids, but it was new to the rest of us. Annabelle and Jack are really into trains so the coal train was a big hit! They both said “Choo Choo” as we took the 10 minute ride. Gwyneth and Ben enjoyed the ride in their strollers and Annabelle & Jack ran through the village.

Our girls are almost the same size!
We’ve been getting lots of “Are they twins?” lately and as GG catches up to Annabelle I’m sure we’ll continue to get it more often.
Jennifer and her boysSweet GGAll aboard!Love that little face Still small enough to fit on the front porch
Look at these giants

Annabelle has started calling Jack “My Jackie”. I have no idea where it came from – we’ve never called him that. She says it so sweet. She recognizes “My Jackie” and Ben and loves to see them. We were leaving daycare on Friday and I said “let’s hit the road Jack” and she said “I no Jack – where’s My Jackie?”. I laughed and said “he’s at home” and she said “oh, with Ben and the puppies?”. She’s a smart cookie.

Keeping busy

Although Annabelle kept me on my toes while B and Gwyneth were in Chicago, I was a bit lonely. The girls go to bed at 7:30 so once Annabelle was asleep the house was really quiet. I kept really busy this past week and am quite happy with all that I was able to accomplish…

Annabelle was a big help and we had such a nice week together. The house is clean, organized, and we’re ready for Gwyneth’s first birthday party next weekend. It feels good to be able to cross a lot off my long long long to do list.

They are home!

This picture says it all…..
Gwyneth and B finally arrived home today. Annabelle & I were so happy to see them. We picked them up from the airport and we were so impatient we couldn’t even wait in the car – we had to meet them at baggage claim. Annabelle’s face was priceless when she saw her dadda!

Gwyneth had a great visit with her YaYa, Auntie Becky, and cousin Madison. I think she gained about 10 pounds from her trip. They kept her very busy and gave her lots of love. I’m glad she was able to have some one on one time with my family but I’m even happier to have her home again.

Welcome home, GG!
The girls get down to business and make up for lost playtime
Welcome home, B!

I missed this sweet little face so much.
I’m so happy to have my baby home.

Heat Wave Relief With Cade

It’s been quite hot here the last few days so Annabelle & I decided to get out and enjoy some of this Colorado sunshine. I picked her up from daycare and off we went to meet Melissa & Cade for dinner. We met at The Orchards and had dinner at Rock Bottom. Annabelle was starving and plowed through her fruit and mac and cheese. The kids enjoyed dining out together and Annabelle laughed and laughed at Cade.

After dinner we let the kids run around the playarea. Annabelle was very interested in climbing on the apples & going down the leaf slide. Cade really liked running through the fountains. They would shriek and giggle as they ran past one another.

Apple on the apple?
Cade loved the fountains.

Cade and Annabelle are buds!
Thanks Melissa and Cade for a fun night out!

Just the two of us

Annabelle and I were very sad to drop B and Gwyneth at the airport tonight. We were both in tears as we pulled away from the terminal. I’m sure my tears made the situation worse, but poor little Annabelle cried all the way to Village Inn from the airport.

Village Inn, you ask? Yep, we were close to Grandpa and Grandma’s house so we stopped for a pie. Grandpa Meyer had an accident Saturday evening – he was out back doing some yardwork and fell and broke two ribs and bruised his kidney. Everyone knows pie makes everything better, especially for Grandpa Bob who is a pie junkie. We dropped off some triple berry pie and wished him well. We will see him again on Sunday to celebrate his birthday and hopefully he’ll be full of pie and getting around much better/faster.

Annabelle and I kept busy tonight running errands. Although I miss my little GG terribly, I realize how important it is to have one on one time with each of my girls. I also realize how stinkin’ easy it is to get around with just one little amiga! I was whipping that girl in and out of the car and running her all around town. She loved it! She hammed it up at each of our destinations and never made a fuss. We had a quiet dinner at home, Annabelle had a solo bath, and watched a little Diego. Annabelle is so attached to her dadda and little sister – she was looking all over the house for them before bed. She checked GG’s empty crib and said “that’s no ok, GG!”. I’m pretty sure she thinks GG was hiding from her – which she has been known to do on occassion. They’ll be back before we know it but I can’t wait to see Annabelle’s little face when we pick them up from airport.
I am happy to report that GG was a perfect angel on the flight out to Chi-town. B said she had their fellow passengers “ooohing” and “aaaahing” and I think B enjoyed the attention of being a dad traveling solo with a baby. YaYa and Madison snatched GG up at the airport and said she was all smiles and giggles. She’s in good hands and being spoiled rotten!

Wedding Whirlwind

Congratulations, Erica and Curtis!
The happily engaged couple below are now husband and wife…

Our super fab friends, Erica & Curtis, were married Friday evening in Kansas City. The wedding reception was Saturday night and we were so thrilled to be able to join in on the festivities. Sheila and Lansing were so great to offer to watch the girls for us overnight. What great friends we have! We dropped the girls off mid-morning at the Tyler house and then off to the airport. We arrived in Kansas City with just enough time to grab a late lunch at Jack Stack BBQ which was delicious. The reception was at The Uptown Theatre – the venue was so original and beautiful.
We met Curtis & Erica when were living in Chicago and we all joined a table-top shuffleboard league together. Yep, you read that right. We were in a rockin’ shuffleboard league! We’ve remained friends through both our moves with the help of Project Runway pools, Top Chef pools, and multiple football pools. It had been almost two years since I’ve seen them and couldn’t have asked for a better time at the wedding. Erica’s dress was so sassy and absolutely perfect for her. I loved her little green shoes – what a splash and a perfect accent. All of their friends and family were so friendly, we just had a wonderful time!
We hopped on an early morning flight and rescued the Tyler’s from our girls about 10:00 a.m. All in all we were gone less than 24 hours. It was definitely a whirlwind but well worth it. The girls had a great time with their friends and we did too! Thanks to Sheila, Lansing, Erica, and Curtis for a fun-filled weekend!

Hair-Raising Breakfast

Annabelle woke up this morning with some serious bed-head! I asked her what the heck happened and she said “momma, hair pretty” and patted her head of wild hair. That’s my girl. I wish I could get that kind of body…there’s not enough hairspray in the world.

Hula Babies

The girls wanted to play dress up and loved their new Hula outfits. They looked adorable and thought they were so funny. Annabelle was doing a little dance for us and Gwyneth just wanted to walk in her grass skirt. We had a really quiet night at home, ordered pizza for dinner, and packed for Kansas City.
