faces

While Annabelle and B recovered from their ailments Gwyneth and I had lots of playtime. She amazes me with all her new words. A few of my favorites: “no thank you Annabelle” (she’s no longer Apple), “hold this”, “nigh nigh”, “cheeeeeese”. She loves pretending to talk on the phone. She puts it on her shoulder and says “hello, bye bye. hello, bye bye”. She also loves calculators. She carries them around with her at all times. Her dad really wants her to be a rocker but it seems like public accounting may be more likely in her future! I guess she got more than just her looks from the Paz’s.

bums

This basically sums up our weekend!
We woke up Saturday morning and B was not feeling much better and unfortunately he took Annabelle down with him. She was sluggish and tired and just not her usual sassy self. We decided to scrap the Breckenridge trip and stay home this weekend.  Annabelle slept , slept, slept and Gwyneth played, played, played. Our goal was to get everone healthy.
Comfy Gwyneth
Comfy Annabelle
The girls watched “Annie” and sang along to their favorite song – “Tomorrow”, of course.

saturday

B started feeling better and wanted to get out for a bit so he met up with Gus to watch the football game. The girls and I had a nice quiet night at home. Gwyneth was happy as can be and ready to rock. Annabelle was not having it. She didn’t want her picture taken, she didn’t want to play, and she wanted to be LEFT ALONE. I can’t blame her, no one wants a camera in their face when they are sick. Gwyneth was more than happy to pose for a few snapshots.
The extent of Annabelle’s playing tonight was laying all her dress up clothes and accessories in a row and didn’t want anyone to touch them. She was all about organization.

maybe breck

We had a wide open weekend ahead of us and were set to head to Breckenridge and relax. Unfortunately it was not to be.  When I got home from work B was in a lot of pain – he had a sore throat and his ears were aching. We decided to wait out the night at home and see how everyone was feeling Saturday morning.
Even though we didn’t head to the mountains we got plenty of relaxing done around our house. We watched movies and the girls played with their bikes and helmets from Santa.
So much for starting the year off healthy. What do we have to do to keep the germs away from here?

hannah

In case you’re wondering why Gwyneth is MIA in the posts from the day, the poor girl caught whatever bug I had and was out of commission. She woke up three times during the night, threw up in her crib around midnight, and slept most of the next day. She had a fever and just couldn’t get comfortable. My poor baby! Her fever finally broke early afternoon and after plenty of rest she was good as new. The bug we had was rough but at least it passed quickly.
Hannah, Brandon, Kelly and Gus joined us for football Sunday. No good news for the Broncos or Bears this year, but Hannah came bearing gifts so at least the girls were happy. Gwyneth received her very own Tinkerbell couch. No more sharing the Dora couch! (no pics of GG and her couch since she wasn’t feeling well, but I’ll snap some soon)  Annabelle received a Princess castle which is a source of non-stop entertainment. She’s in heaven! She had so much fun playing with her couch and even made her dad and Gus take turns going in with her. The girls gave Hannah a few games for her DS and she seemed pretty happy too. It was great to see the Brown’s and Gus – football days are always more fun with a crowd!

curly

As I was fixing Annabelle’s hair she came across the curlers and decided she wanted “curly hair like LaLa’s” (that’s her nickname for her cousin Madison). Annabelle has stick straight hair just like her momma, but I told her I’d give it a try. She sat very patiently eating cheerios waiting for her hair to curl. Not much luck, but she had one little curl and was pleased with herself. Next time we’ll wet it down and leave them in much longer.  Its going to take some serious hair gel and hair spray to get this girls hair to look like LaLa’s!

happy birthday, chriss

I woke up feeling awful. I had a fever and sore throat and was just aching all over. B treated me so well today. He told me he’d take care of the girls and sent me back to bed. I slept until 10:30. He took the girls to Costco and brought home lunch for all of us. We had lunch and the girls and I went down for naps. We slept until 2:30. I got a lot of sleep! My fever broke in the afternoon but I was still feeling worn down. B took the girls to his parent’s house for dinner and I stayed in my pj’s, under lots of blankets, on the couch, and watched a few episodes of Dexter (new addiction on Netflix). I was disappointed to miss Chriss’ birthday celebration, but I got a lot of rest and I’m glad I didn’t expose anyone else to whatever the heck I had. I’m feeling much better and keeping my fingers crossed that tomorrow I’ll be back to 100%.
The girls wore their Elmo sweatshirts that Auntie Chriss got them for Christmas. They looked so cute and comfy! Annabelle all smiles while Gwyneth hydrates…
Gwyneth’s turn to smile. They’re going to make me work for a smiley picture of both of them.
I got it!!
The girls love their Elmo sweatshirts and like poking Elmo’s nose on each other’s bellies!

little feet

Welcome 2010! We started the year off right with some quiet family time at home. B and I got several home improvement projects finished – well some were just started, but it was a long time in the making. The girls played with all their new toys from Christmas and Gwyneth found a new purpose for her stool. Both of my girls love turning lights on and off (almost as much as slamming doors!). Gwyneth realized the stool was just the help she needed to finally get that pesky light switch. If she stands on her very tippy toes she can get it and it doesn’t get much sweeter than that.

bye 2009

Since we were in Highlands Ranch for Ben’s party, we took Jen & Jeff up on the invitation to swing by for a little New Years cheer. We were joined by Grandma and Grandpa Meyer, the Rewalts, and the Kilborns. We hadn’t planned on staying long because the girls still go to bed by 8:00 each night, but they were having so much fun with their cousins that we just couldn’t resist. We stayed out until 8:30 which we knew would be trouble the next day. I know, I know – we’re maniacs. Living on the edge! The girls played hard with their cousins and had a great time and indulged in lots of lasagna.
The little girls – gotta love the cheesy two year old smiles.
The big kids

candy shop

We toured the Hammonds Candy Factory and watched them make candy the very old fashion way. The tour starts with a short video and then we watched them hand make candy canes. It’s amazing how manual the process still is and how much sugar is used! It made my teeth hurt just watching. Of course the tour ended with a free sample which I managed to avoid for me and the girls, but we did get B a sample since he was working and couldn’t join us (I’m not completely anti-candy, but it was hard candy and not safe for the little ones). To leave, you have to walk through the candy shop but we managed to escape without a purchase for the girls. Madison got a pink lemonade candy cane and so you don’t think I’m heartless the girls did share a soft pretzel just no hard candy.  It was a fun tour but I’d recommend waiting until the kids are a little bit older and can partake in the tasting.

After the tour we met B for lunch at Corona’s, one of my favorite restaurants. I’ll tell ya, there is something about that restaurant that brings out the worst in my girls. I have no idea what it is but they are ALWAYS naughty there. They just can’t sit still. They are really good girls and very good at dining out but Corona’s just doesn’t agree with them. The food is delicious but certainly not worth the headache so I don’t think we’ll be going back with the girls for a very long time. Looks like we need to find another Mexican stop.

We had to say goodbye to Poppy, Melissa, Becky and Madison today. We had a great visit and I will really miss them. It was heartbreaking when Annabelle woke up from her nap and asked for her LaLa and I had to tell her she went home. She held onto her LaLa doll and looked so sad. Little Gwyneth just walked around looking for LaLa. I’m trying to talk Becky into sending Madison out for spring break so she can ski and we get to see my dad and Melissa in January. It’s still hard to see them go and it was a sad night at the Meyer house.
