movie | instant family

We have a crazy, busy week ahead of us and instead of laying low like most people would I decided we better have as much fun as possible before the madness arrives.
What’s better than Mexican food and a movie? Nothing. There is nothing better.
We tried out a new place by the theater called El Tapatio. It was pretty darn good. Soggy tacos but the burritos, enchiladas, and tostadas were a hit.
We went to see Instant Family and it was a hit for all of us. B even stayed awake and that is really saying something. It was funny and sweet and a good family movie.
These goofy girls, being super goofy before the movie.

ar workshop | menu board

From the Littleton studio I really have to hightail it back to our ‘hood in time to pick up the girls from school. There was traffic, roadwork and an accident on the highway but I managed to make it just in time. Phew! I hate to be late so I’m going to have to figure out this commute a little better to keep my sanity.
I was wound up from the traffic so I figured we needed some ice cream to get our heads right again. Annabelle is not a huge fan of sweets but she humored me. She got the tiniest little cup of apple cider sorbet. I got a scoop of banana pudding and a scoop of caramel apple pie. Gwyneth went straight for the chocolate naturally. A little ice cream sure can turn a day around!

I’ve been feeling very crafty lately and was glad to join my friend Jackie for another AR workshop. It was just the two of us in our group, but it was a pretty packed house. The energy in the studio was contagious and we met some new, fun, crafty ladies. Jackie made a Happy Hanukkah sign and I made a menu board. I loved both our projects, but have to admit I was a little envious of Jackie’s project because she got to use glitter!

I have this on my list for another board…

I hung that board right up on the wall as soon as I got home and then got busy making little cards for our menu. My goodness, the craftiness! I’m in heaven.

nuggets vs bucks

I was so very thankful to have the company of my lovely Gwyneth this morning at work. We had a tree painting party at the Littleton studio and I needed to go over and check in customers and drop off some snacks. This girl really wants to learn to glaze pottery and load kilns, but I was eager to be done for the day so we will save that adventure for another time (soon, very soon. She can’t wait!).
I told her I would take her anywhere she wanted for lunch and B extended the same offer to Annabelle. They ended up at Arby’s and we ended up with crab legs. I’m going to declare victory on this one.
This girl loves seafood and I remembered there was a Joe’s Crab Shack nearby. I had not been in ages, but thought we’d give it a try. It’s a silly place, but the kids crab legs meal was a huge hit!!
Funny bib, but they have never seen this girl hangry!
Gwyneth has been a little spoiled with her crab legs as they have always been cracked for her table side. She said it was hard work to do it herself, but worth it! This girl is such a little foodie.
I signed up for Buzzer Beater passes for the Nuggets which is a phenomenal deal. They offer $15 tickets 24-hours before game time. That $15 is all-in, including fees. For just $60 the four of us can grab last minute seats to a game. Not too shabby at all!
Tonight we gave it and try and grabbed 4 seats to the Nuggets and Milwaukee Bucks game.
We had a pre-game dinner at the Breckenridge Brewery at the stadium. We didn’t have a reservation so we were glad to get a table. That table was right by the door though and it sure was cold. Annabelle wore B’s gloves through most of the meal. Ha!
We made it up to our seats which were about 3 or 4 rows from the top. We were in the rafters! For $15 we weren’t complaining though and we could still see all the action.
It was a great game, but the Nuggets fell apart at the end. They lost the game. Although it wasn’t the outcome we had cheered for we were glad to be there.

fall festival

We hosted a booth at the girls’ school Fall Festival again this year. Painters could make little pumpkin magnets at our station. I had a staff member join us so we wouldn’t be tied to the booth all night and explore with the girls. It turned out pretty well, but there is always room for improvements. The magnets were not as big of a hit as the pumpkin dishes were last year so I have to come up with a new, better idea next year. Luckily we already have several ideas for these suckers…because we have quite a few leftover.
B and I also got signed up to work a few of the other booths over the course of the night.
Annabelle worked this booth with a friend too.
And the girls played! They had a great time with their friends. We gave them a lot of freedom to explore and have fun on their own. It’s always great to see them with their pals.
Annabelle soaked her teacher! Ha!

indoor skydiving

The girls joined their friend, Kierra, for a grand adventure today. They went indoor skydiving to celebrate her 11th birthday. I didn’t get to join them but B shared these photos with me. Their stories made my heart happy and had us laughing hard.
The consensus was that it was really windy! It was scary at first but then really fun. Gwyneth laughed her way through the entire experience. Annabelle was a bit nervous at first, but quickly got the hang of it. The instructor asked if she had done it before because she was a natural.
They are already planning their next trip!

celebration!

I embarked on a field trip today with a fellow Color Me Mine owner. I drove about an hour and half to south east Colorado to check out a pottery barn. Not a pottery barn retail store…literally a barn full of pottery! It was crazy. I have never seen anything like it. I have had customers asking for different pieces and these custom-made pieces will surely fit that bill. I’m eager to see if they sell and hope I can take the family on a little field trip down there to see that barn and pick up more inventory.
I arrived home to find my family all dolled up and ready to celebrate. We had dinner at Hickory and Ash. It was so wonderful to take a break from all the madness that this new studio entails and thank my husband and girls for their patience with me and the process. I’m a lucky, lucky lady!

color me mine littleton

The big day finally arrived. We closed today on the Littleton Color Me Mine.
This purchase happened much faster than the previous 2, but didn’t come without its share of hiccups. It’s such a wild ride during the negotiations and lease assignments. The calls are endless, the to-do list stretches on and on and then the day arrives and it’s done. Well, not done…that’s when they hand over the keys and the to-do lists shifts from purchasing to operating.
I closed this morning and then dove right in and spent the day in the studio with the manager. This studio is beautiful, with creative samples, and a dedicated staff. I’m really keeping my fingers crossed and heart optimistic that this will be a peaceful transition. Let the fun begin!
As a reward for the months of hard work, I purchased the girls new pj’s. Ha! I think fondly of the days of champagne toasts and night on the town celebrating and laugh at how relaxed life has become. I loved buying those pjs and their faces were everything when they put them on. We will celebrate properly, but tacos and pjs are the best closing night celebration I could have wished for…

broncos vs texans

The girls spent the night at Great Wolf Lodge celebrating their friend Kierra’s birthday. B and I met up with Gus and Brandon for the Broncos game. Oh man, I love going to those games. We have so much fun and this season has been such a fun experience. It would be a whole lot more fun if the Broncos didn’t lose and would stop driving me crazy with this freakin’ quarterback….BUT we are having such a blast being at the stadium this season.
What a crew!

happy birthday jackie

I had the most wonderful morning celebrating my dear friend, Jackie’s birthday. Jackie, Bella, and I met up at AR Workshop in Lafayette. We spent the morning sanding, painting, and just “creating” our little hearts out.
We each made one project and then quickly purchased another project for another day. Gotta love planning the next outing before the fun from this outing is even over. I’d say we are pretty hooked on this DIY shop.
So many fun ideas…
Today was all about lovely ladies and lots of laughs!
I’m in love with the lazy susan I made for our kitchen table
Finished projects!

movie night | first man

Oh boy, we sugar crashed today! I’m not a big sweets fan, but can’t seem to pass up a few pieces of candy on Halloween. We were all riding the Halloween high last night and then the low hit this morning and swept us away to Grumpy-town.
We all went about our business and as the work day was coming to a close I texted B and asked for a night out. You’d think we’d all want to just be lazy and lay around after a busy night, but no. We all agreed that we needed to get out together and avoid the draw of the candy buckets and our comfy couches. We decided to head to the movies…
Our family has entered new terrain for movie going. We still see our share of the animated flicks, but we’re moving into more live-action movies these days. It really opens up what movies we can experience together. I’ve already got the girls hooked on the Jurassic Park series, much to their father’s dismay.
Tonight we saw First Man which received mixed reviews from our family. I’ve always had a fascination with the American space program and I loved this movie. Annabelle enjoyed it too. Gwyneth found it a little scary and B found it a tad boring. I’d recommend seeing it in a theater where it’s loud and intense!
