scissors

Annabelle’s Godparent’s, Rob and Diane sent out Christmas packages for the girls. They each received two books that included tracing, mazes, alphabets, and wait for it…..cutting with scissors! As soon as Annabelle opened up the book she was speechless. This girl loves to cut. Loves it! Since our scissors mishap their use of scissors has been limited and closely watched. When I told Gwyneth that Annabelle received a scissors book she said “oh noooooo, we can’t have scissors we cut hair!”.
The girls spent the rest of the evening playing with their books and I’m happy to report they still have all their hair!!

holiday party

I volunteered at the girls’ school holiday party today. I’m so glad I have the flexibility to do these things with them now. We had a wonderful celebration and it makes me so happy to see the girls play with their friends.

bears vs broncos

It was a hometown showdown at the Meyer house today. It was most definitely a house divided. Annabelle and I wore Bears gear and Gwyneth and B wore Broncos gear. We had a few friends over for the game and Annabelle and I were the only ones rooting for Chi-town.
I’ll tell ya what….I have some ruthless friends. The Bears lost to the Broncos and I got my share of abuse. Miss Annabelle decided half way through the game to abandon me. She took of her Bears shirt and was running around in her undershirt screaming “Go Broncos!”. Ang and Chad’s little guy Zachary said it best….he told her “You are Freaking Out!!”. No loyalty from that girl. Sad, so very sad.
Even though my team lost and my girl ditched me, I had a great great time. It was so fun to have all the kids together and to be with so many good friends.

Such a fun group of kiddos. We were missing three…they weren’t interested in my picture taking.

Gwyneth convinced Missi to hold her and read to her for most of the game.

party santa

We had a busy, busy day — 1 birthday party and 3 Santa sightings. Our 2nd Santa sighting was at Home Depot and the girls were not having it. Our 3rd and final Santa visit for the day was at our neighbor’s house. This was a terrific Santa. He was so good with the kids. He played games and sang songs with them.
So, wouldn’t you know it….my girls decided it was finally time to sit on Santa’s lap and my camera battery died.  UGH!! Lucky for me, B had his IPhone and was able to snap a few pictures. I would have been very sad to not have this documented. First pony rides and now Santa….what a HUGE day for my girls!

I love this picture. It’s kind of hard to see, but Gwyneth was quite afraid of Santa and Annabelle reached over and held her hand. My heart is full!

pony

Annabelle has decided she wants a pony for Christmas. I have no idea where this idea came from, but the birthday party we attended today certainly did NOT help.
The birthday party was for two of the girls’ playmates from school, Priya and Kai. They are only 13 months apart like our kiddos. Nice to know we’re not the only crazy ones out there.
The party included pony rides and birthday cake. What more could two little girls ask for? Well, Gwyneth was super excited when we showed up and she saw the pony, and it took a little coaxing to get Annabelle to ride. There was no way she was going to be outdone by her little sister, so she took the bait and rode the pony. They both really liked it! Annabelle’s quest for a pony for Christmas continues.
As we were driving over, Annabelle complained the sun was shining in her eyes and I forgot her sunglasses. Luckily she was able to improvise…

Their 1st pony rides!!

 Gwyneth and Kai…the little siblings.

rec center santa

We talked and talked and talked about Santa. He’s a jolly old man with a beard that brings presents. What’s not to love?!?! Well, the girls talked a big game. They were going to sit on his lap this year!
Our neighborhood rec center hosted a Santa morning and the girls were gung ho….until it was their turn and they freaked! They were absolutely not having it. Funny, I swore after the first year of  screaming Santa photos I would never do this to them again. They tricked me because I really thought they were ready.
My favorite part is that Annabelle doesn’t even like to be sitting next to Santa while Gwyneth is all smiles because she didn’t have to. Oh these girls!

Well, at least there were cookies and candy canes. It wasn’t a total loss.

toy story 3

I found a great deal for tickets for Family Night at Toy Story 3 on ice.  Gwyneth is super, duper into Toy Story right now. She just can’t decide if she likes Toy Story or Cars better. Such a little character.
B made it home from his work trip on time so we got to all go together. Gwyneth was so excited. She literally started shaking when Buzz Light year “flew in”. It reminds me of those girls in the old footage of the British Invasion. Yes, Sheriff Woody is the equivalent of the Beatles for my baby girl!
Annabelle liked the show, but was definitely more interested in the desserts. She had her eye on the snow cones and her daddy delivered. Such lucky little girls.

So, I walked downstairs that night to a dark kitchen with this sitting on the counter. I gotta admit….it freaked me out. It just looks creepy. I swear those eyes were following me….

denver chophouse

I have a monthly meet up with my gal pals. The first Monday of each month we get together in a central area, typically downtown, and try a new restaurant or head back to an old favorite. It’s been wonderful reconnecting with a lot of these ladies. Many of them I have known for more than 10 years — our friendships have survived children, some divorces, some moves, and just the craziness of life! It’s a great group of gals and we have a blast. This month we headed to the Denver Chophouse. We had delicious food and fabulous conversation. I can’t wait to meet up with them again next month. Perhaps I’ll remember my camera one of these times….

Since B was out of town the girls got to have a playdate with their cousins Ryan and Reagan at Grandma and Grandpa Meyer’s. Jen and I cruised to dinner together while the kiddos played. I assure we were not missed in the slightest.

kbco day

B got up bright and early and head out for the KBCO Studio C CD. This is Volume 23 and we’ve got them all. It was so cold this year they actually let the crowd wait inside…I don’t think they ever do that….it was really, really cold.
Abe, Wendi, Ashton, and Hannah came over for some pizza and fun. Unfortunately we don’t have many boy toys, besides the Wii, so poor Ashton ended up spelling out Broncos with wine corks. We should probably get a few more boy toys….and probably a few less corks around here.

polar express

We met the Carlson’s for a showing of the Polar Express on the big screen at the Wildlife Experience. B wasn’t feeling well….he has been out of commission the last two days….but luckily Missi was able to join the girls and me. They were thrilled to have her join us and when we picked her up Annabelle said “It’s Girls Night!”. Trouble.

We had never seen Polar Express and Jennifer warned the girls about the very loud train at the beginning. Gwyneth kept asking if the scary part was coming up….she really doesn’t like scary movies. She was pleasantly surprised when Santa showed up at the end. Nothing scary about that. He has presents! We have this movie on the IPAD but the girls never showed any interest. I think it’s going to be a very different story after this experience.

We sang Christmas Carols on the drive home and Annabelle informed us that when she wakes up and the milk and cookies are gone she will know Santa has been to our house. She said she will call everyone to let them know. Look out Carlson’s — Annabelle is becoming an early riser and she said she is calling you first!
