kindergarten assignment

Class assignments were posted today at Annabelle’s school. She found out she will be in Mrs. Pries’ full day kindergarten class. We’ve heard nothing but good things about her teacher and we’re so excited for her to start kindergarten next week!
Something tells me that Miss Gwyneth is feeling a bit left out and needing some attention…

We celebrated with dinner at 3 Margaritas. There was a guy there making balloon animals and came up with some favorites for our girls. I wouldn’t exactly call this a Little Mermaid.
Gwyneth and her Belle, her very favorite princess (only because Dorothy from Wizard of Oz is not a princess — as she has informed me many many times.)

another dog day

The prior dog day at school was cancelled and rescheduled for today, so it was another day of Elitch’s with my soon to be kindergartner. Although I do get a bit behind at work and have to catch up in the evenings, I really do enjoy these lazy summer days with this girl. She is a little thrill seeker and we have so much fun riding all the big girl rides together. We arrive when the park opens and head out only when the park closes. No rest for the wicked!
Lisa and Kaylee joined us again today. We’ve been so lucky to have so much time with these fab ladies this summer!
On the ferris wheel
Just love this lady…
That’s Miss Annabelle up there!

johnson baby countdown

Darron and Kristen are counting down the days until their new baby girl arrives….just 3 more days to be exact. After preschool, I picked up all the girls for a playdate to give Kristen a little time to relax and rest. Of course she made brownies for us instead! The girls made their own pizzas and played the afternoon night away. Darron and Kristen joined us for dinner that evening and as usual, it was such a fun night with friends.
The Johnson’s are such a wonderful family with two very sweet daughters and I can hardly wait to meet the third!

day with diane

We had a fun-filled, busy Colorado kind of day with Diane. Unfortunately we had to miss two friends’ birthday parties, but Diane only comes to town every year or so and the girls really, really wanted to spend the day with her. She must be something pretty special to pass up bouncy houses and birthday cake!
First stop was the park.

Next stop: Sushi!
Gwyneth is our sushi connoisseur. Her favorites are the tuna roll and Alaskan roll…although she doesn’t really want to be bothered with the rice and would prefer just the raw tuna. What??? I’m not sure I could be more proud of this girl than at this exact moment.
Now, doesn’t that just make you hungry?
Next Stop: Estes Park

We visited our favorite little ice cream/pie/cupcake shop right off the main street of town. Yum!

Annabelle and her Godmother….love, love, love
Next stop: Oskar Blues Grill and Brew in Lyons
Cheers!
We had a fabulous visit with Diane and we miss her already!

jersey boys

My dear friend of many, many years came out to Colorado to visit us. I have known Diane for the better part of my life and she continues to be one of my absolute favorite people. She is always busy with work and family and life but she managed to sneak a trip out to see us and for that we are very, very grateful.
Diane and I have a history of theater….we are not dramatic (no, not at all!), but we do enjoy seeing a show! We’ve seen so many together. I’m not even sure I could count them all. This trip was no exception  — I surprised D with tickets to see Jersey Boys. We had three tickets — a night on the town for me, Diane and B.
The show was great! Ranking very high on my favorite shows list. We had a wonderful dinner at Steubens and a great night out with Diane. None of this would have been possible without our fabulous Colorado friends. Abe and Wendi invited Annabelle over for a fun night with “Big Hannah”. She had so much fun and never left Hannah’s side. Gus and Missi invited Gwyneth over for a sleepover! They took her to a movie, gave her lots of treats, got her McDonalds and watched Wizard of Oz.
I’m not sure how we got so lucky to have such fabulous friends in our lives, but we sure have a good thing going!

Wendi, Annabelle and Hannah. Love these girls.
Gwyneth’s adventure with Gus and Missi

Gus sent me this picture – I think these gals watched too much Wizard of Oz. I love this picture. I’m not sure Missi would appreciate me sharing it…..but it’s my blog and I do what I want!

A night at the theater with my dear friend, Diane

happy birthday, abe

Happy Birthday to our very wrong, but very hilarious friend, Abe! We dined at Si Seniors and had some rather large margaritas, which may be an understatement. Look at the size of those drinks…bigger than our heads!
Happy Birthday, Abe
Missi forgot to put on her big girl pants for the party – look at that sad little margarita.

princess playate

We have some very kind neighbors with a little girls who happens to be  4 1/2 which works out fabulously for our girls. They love Miss Francesca and always ask to have playdates with her. Her dad is a stay-at-home day so luckily we are able to work this out.
This week she came over and within 15 minutes the dress up clothes were already being worn. They had a great time and when the playdate was over I just had to walk next door to take her home. I can get use to that.

noodle

The girls are hooked on the swimming noodles at the pool. They can go in the “big girl” pool and float and swim. I love it because the kiddie pool gets super duper crowded and the big kid pool is pretty empty. I like to swim, so it’s nice to be able to float and swim around with them in water that comes above my knees!

poor bella bean

Annabelle’s BFF, Bella, has had a rough few days. She had a temperature that sky-rocketed to 105. She was admitted to the hospital and had to stay for several days. Once she was on the mend, we got the ok to come visit her.
Annabelle was thrilled to see her buddy and Bella Bean is well on her way to a full recovery! Woo Hoo!

pre-k elitch day

Today was “Service Dog” day at the girls’ preschool. They have been talking about it for weeks. Gwyneth was very excited, but Annabelle was terrified! She has been asking for weeks to stay home that day. I feel really bad for her because of this fear. I had the same thing as a kid and now as an adult I realize that “dog-people” are not always very sympathetic. I can’t make those people be kind to her, but I can avoid some situations until she’s comfortable….so, with that said we took a Mommy/Annabelle day!
First stop, school supply shopping!!
This little kindergartner was thrilled.
Next stop, Elitch’s!
Lisa and Kaylee joined us for a fun-filled day at the park. Gwyneth is not a big fan of the water park, but Miss Annabelle is so we stayed there ALL morning! She liked the lazy river and wave pool, and next time I’m hoping to get her own a few slides.
Annabelle loves the big girl rides in the amusement park! We went on the boat ride/Sea dragon at least 20 times. We worked our way up row by row until we were in the very back row. She had her arms in the air each row until we got to the back. The back row makes even a big girl hold on tight!
We had such a fabulous day with fabulous friends.
