pumpkin pjs

I know I don’t have much longer for gymboree pj’s. Annabelle already told me she is too big, but I couldn’t pass up these matching pumpkin pj’s and the girls humored me. They even let me take their picture. And then continued their game of “why are you hitting yourself?”. Thanks, ladies….please, proceed.

“why are you hitting yourself? why are you hitting yourself? why are you hitting yourself?” never gets old. always hilarious.

blinged out bridal shower

Gus and Missi’s wedding is quickly approaching. Today, B took Gus and a group of the guys golfing while  the girls and I threw a bridal shower for Missi. I went a little crazy with the blinged out pink but it was lovely and it made Missi and my girls happy. It was a great brunch with Missi, Gus’ family, Jen and Sheila and of course, my fancy little girls and my sweet niece Reagan.
I really do enjoy throwing a party. I am a sucker for making the decorations. I just can’t help myself. And it’s probably the few times a year that I actually cook/bake. I won’t take credit for that cake though…that was Nothing Bundt Cakes and that was Y.U.M.M.M.M.Y!
Now, that’s some bling…

The girls had a little picnic and enjoyed the Tangled Ever After movie — it’s just a 15 minute clip of Rapunzel’s wedding. It is wedding fever around here.

Not to be outdone by the guest of honor, the girls got dressed up in their wedding clothes. Annabelle came down to the party in her Cinderella wedding dress and full veil. Oh my! Luckily Missi was graciously about sharing the spotlight with these hams.

This high heal cake server was a must have according to Annabelle. When I asked if we really need that she said “YES!!!!! We can use it to serve pizza every time Maeva comes to visit!”. Well, yes that seems logical, we’ll take it.

We had a delightful time with a wonderful group of ladies. Wishing Gus and Missi a very happy wedding and marriage!

dragon circus

Our library was offering a fabulous deal: Read five books and get a free kids ticket to the circus. Since our kids love, love, love to read they did this in one super quick sitting at the library and we were ready to head to the Big Top.
Friday is our pizza night, so off we headed to Beau Jo’s. Oh man, is that good pizza. The salad bar grosses me out, but that is delicious pizza.

The circus didn’t start until 7:00. Annabelle is typically getting on her pj’s by 6:30 (kindergarten is hard work!), so we knew we were pushing it. She did great. She liked the show and didn’t start yawning until the very end.

To say that Gwyneth LOVED the circus would be drastic understatement. She was in awe! The tricks and animals blew her little mind. She was clapping and dancing and all smiles. I was literally crying from laughing so hard just watching her. She was so, so happy I could barely stand it. She was on her feet, applauding and could not get enough of the guys who stand on the horses backs in a pyramind, while the horses are running full speed…..What the what?!?!? Yep, that just happened!

I couldn’t have asked for a better night with my sweet family.
And here’s a return of Annabelle’s favorite picture pose. She has really nailed that cross-eyed face. Excellent!

the stupids

At the beginning of the school year kindergartners were allowed to pick a book off a specific table in the library. Annabelle has now earned the privilege of picking out ANY book she would like….and she brought home this gem….

Yes, it’s a classic. It’s an entire book about a stupid family…named the Stupids…and the stupid things they do…and their stupid relatives, who are also named the Stupids. Like I said, a real gem. As  I read this Gwyneth sat with her mouth wide open and every time I said “Stupid”, which was no less than 90 times, she said “oooooh, that’s a bad word”. Let’s hope this book doesn’t make a return appearance to the Meyer Casa.

After the girls went to bed B went to meet Abe at Buffalo Wild Wings and I got busy scrunching these….

Any idea how long it takes to make one of those (above) look like that (below)?

A long, long time. And I only finished one. And I still have the silver one to go, but honestly I was bored, and there was nothing good on my DVR. Wish me luck, I have a week to get the other one done…

miley on the move

It’s amazing what a five year old can do with a full leg cast! Miley can’t put any weight on her leg, but she can get around the house. She’s up and down stairs, playing dress up, there’s no stopping her. It’s quite a sight! If I were in full leg cast and given the option to sit on the couch and read and watch movies for 8 weeks I don’t think I’d move a muscle. But  hey, that’s just me….

anderson farms

Poppy and Melissa came for a visit and we filled our day with them! We had a delicious sushi lunch at Ooka, went pumpkin hunting at Anderson Farms, and then capped off the evening with dinner at Morton’s. A wonderful visit and so much good, good food!
That’s a sushi boat!
Ready for the pumpkin patch!
The girls found their perfect pumpkins

Getting caught in the spider web

Poppy doesn’t pose for pictures. It’s either bunny ears or funny faces. This is what I got…

cheer champs

Annabelle came home from school with information about a cheerleading group in our neighborhood. Oh my was she excited! The class is for 4 and years old, costs an arm and a leg, requires a bit of fundraising, has a showcase at the end of the session, and is a fabulous workout. The teachers are a bit like drill sergeants, so bring on the structure and discipline.
Annabelle was very interested in learning all the techniques and had her eye on the pom poms, which are purchased after you commit to the fall session. Gwyneth was eager to be in a big girl class with Annabelle, learned a few of the moves and then spent the last portion of the class doing what I can only describe as an enthusiastic, dancing type of karate kick and intimidation.
Annabelle is signed up for the rest of the session and Gwyneth has set her sights on ice skating lessons. She can go fast on the ice and gets pretty costumes. So, stay tuned for G on ice.
This is when Gwyneth started making up her own moves…

finding nemo 3d

After school the girls and I headed to the theater to see the 3D Version of Nemo. Annabelle loved it and she cracks me up when she tries to reach out and grab the fish and bubbles. About halfway through I noticed Gwyneth had her glasses off and said the movie was giving her a stomach ache. I tell ya, that 3D nonsense gives me a head ache. The things Gwyneth and I do for Miss Annabelle!

Our local theater has all the old movie posters wallpapering the long hallway to the entrance. The girls insisted on getting their picture taken by their favorites as we left the building.
Gwyneth is covering up the poster for Brave….and yes, she is wearing fairy wings to the movies…what of it?
The Lorax
Dolpin Tale
Hop or IHOP as the girls call it, thanks Yaya!

while daddy golfs…

B played in a golf tournament today. His team came in first place. Woot Woot!
While he was golfing we decided to head down to Steak ‘N Shake and Ikea. It’s a good 45 minute drive and I think it was worth every minute. I usually avoid that part of town whenever possible, but sometimes you just need a good milkshake and some cheap, snap-them-together yourself storage units!

Annabelle’s eye was a little swollen but it looking much, much better!

broomfield days

We missed Broomfield days last year because we were out of town and we were determined to make this year! The Meyer’s love a festival. We caught the tail end of the parade, checked out the classic cars, and the girls bounced their way through the all the bouncy houses. We ran into lots of friends and had such a nice time soaking in the sunshine.

Gwyneth and her friend, Ava. They got sunglasses from one of the folks in the parade.
Checking out the old Bronco….Grandpa Bob use to have one like this.
The Ford Model T and the Rock Star
Enjoying some festival food with B, Darron and Kristen. I think people really enjoy getting their picture taken while they are eating. Yep, timing is one of my better qualities…
Gwyneth, Emma, and Annabelle. Oh my goodness, how cute are these ladies?
Can’t get enough of Miss Sophie!

We had one last stop – face painting. The line was long and the girls entertained themselves by running around a nearby tree. Annabelle picked up a stick which she decided to use to scrape the bark of the tree. The bark came off all right….right back at her, into her eye. The bark didn’t stick around, but it managed to scratch her eyeball, leaving her in a lot of pain and very upset. I fly into psycho mom mode at that point, screaming for help, pushing people out of the way, picking her up and running to Urgent Care. (have you ever seen Terms of Endearment? The scene where she’s trying to get her daughter the shot. Yep, that’s me).
Our poor girl! She is doing much, much better now.
