wreck it

PJ party at our house!
We invited the families from my MOM’s group and had a great turnout. 15 kids and 7 moms came over. What was remarkable was that the kids actually sat down and watched Wreck It Ralph and it was relatively quiet. The moms sat in the kitchen chatting while the kids watched the show and munched on pizza and popcorn. Almost 2 full hours of peace and quiet and quality mom time — with 15 kids in the house! Amazing!
Gwyneth was so excited for her friends to come over. She staged the screening room…aka she brought every piece of kid furniture, blanket, and pillow she could find to set up for the movie. She even placed one of her stuffed animals on each of the kids’ spots. She’s a pretty fabulous little hostess.

mud season

It’s that time of year in Colorado. The ski lifts are closing up and the snow is beginning to melt….or at least it’s suppose to be melting. The town of Breckenridge closes down for a few weeks to prepare for the summer crowds. Most people avoid it but we LOVE it. No one is around and we get the town to ourselves…besides a few remaining locals.
A few of our favorite restaurants stay open and we even had the opportunity to check out some new places. We have a new favorite called The Warming Hut. B is turning me in to quite the food snob and this place exceeded our expectations. Delicious! Can’t wait to visit there again on our next trip up.
We had a relaxing weekend of food, hot tubs, playing in the snow, movies and more and more relaxing! Can’t ask for much more.

glass

Annabelle’s girl scout troop did a craft project with melted glass. This use to be a wine bottle:

Keep an eye out for these cards:
When Annabelle does something kind for someone else she can leave her calling card behind. I love the idea and she is very excited to do good deeds.

rockies

We had a very nice visit with my dad and Melissa. It has been a while since we’ve seen them, but they came out to spend a quick weekend with us. We had a delicious dinner at Frasca on Friday night, explored the Rocky Mountain National Park on Saturday and then had dinner at Morton’s. Gus, Grandma and Grandpa Meyer and Kristen and Darron joined us for a deliciously, extravagant, wonderful meal. All the familiar stories of curfew tickets and bad high school choices were shared.  That is truly one of the benefits of meeting my husband 20 years ago. Those stories stick with you FOREVER!
It was a great weekend and we always appreciate my dad and Melissa coming out to see us!

princess day

Princess day is not quite as easy to prepare for as pj day. It’s quite the production really. Gwyneth was all glamour and girlie from head to toe. I do believe this was her favorite day of all this week. She looked awfully sweet in her princess gown.
Not in the mood for pictures. Ready to get to school:
So, so sweet:

Today was pj day at Annabelle’s school! She hopped out of bed and said “I’m ready to go!”. Now that’s what I like to hear. Throw a little breakfast at ’em and brush some teeth and we’re off. Pajama day is the BEST!!

pj day

Pajama day at Gwyneth’s school. I wish every day was pj day! Well, I work from home and I’m a super lazy dresser so every day for me is pj day. I just wish the girls had pj day every day too. How easy the mornings would be if we never had to discuss dresses, socks, flip flops, boots, etc. What a wonderful world that would be.
Pjs and slippers. It doesn’t get better than this:

sports day

Everyday this week at Gwyneth’s school is a theme. Today it is sports day. I had her Nuggets shirt and Rocky doll all laid out for her this morning….but she was not having it. After dropping Annabelle off at the bus stop we hurried home and I made her a soccer dress. Yep, that’s right. She needed soccer and she needed a dress and wouldn’t be happy with anything else. These are things that are important to share with your mother the night before sports day. Not a 1/2 half hour before sports day begins. Just sayin’.
She is quite lucky that I adore her, and she is quite lucky I find her very cute, and she’s a bit lucky that I like to sew because she got her soccer dress just in time for school:

I realize this post probably makes Miss Gwyneth sound like a spoiled brat, but I should note that she requested the dress very sweetly and kindly and so she’s not so much of a brat as I am a total pushover for her.

Now on to the big sister, what the heck is the deal with the socks? She loves the mismatched socks. I know she likes it because the big kids do it, but I think a little bit of her joy is founded in the fact that it makes me nuts. Mismatched socks…I know, first world problem, but C’MON!!!

sweet moo

We had a super lazy and relaxing day at home with B. He’s been so busy lately we’ve all needed the family time and we’ve definitely needed to slow down. We tried a new restaurant this evening called the Old Louisville Inn which was delicious — I think B needed (and deserved!) a break from cooking!
After dinner we sampled some treats at a new ice cream shop called Sweet Cow. It’s new to us, that is. They had Jack and Coke ice cream for B, oatmeal cookie for me, cherry limeade sorbet for Annabelle and of course double dutch chocolate for Gwyneth. Yum!!!

happy birthday, bella

Bella’s birthday party was at the ice skating rink this year. What a blast! It was great to see the kids do something different and even some of the parents joined the kids on the ice. I was not that brave since I’m still wounded – both physically and  my ego – from my last ice skating outing.

Bella skated with her fairy wings so she was always easy to spot and she looked so happy to be celebrating with her friends. Happy Birthday, Miss Bella! Welcome to the five year old club!

This was the best I could get of the four of them. C’mon G. C’mon!
Adorable fairy cupcakes
Love Miss Bella!

Such a sweet picture of Amy and Brayden:

Great party and so wonderful to celebrate with a great family and wonderful group of kiddos!

make and take

Emma and Rosie joined us for the monthly make and take craft at the library. Books AND crafts…this our new favorite place to be. This month was a cloud with a rainbow and umbrellas made out of cupcake wrappers. We do love our crafts around here….and our books at the library…and our friends. Fabulous outing!

We returned to our house so the girls could play for a bit then headed to Kristen and Darron’s for dinner. They served up a delicious salsa, salad, fries and jalapeno and cheddar burgers. Everyone seems very nervous to cook for B these days since he’s on the path to chef stardom, but Kristen has absolutely nothing to worry about. She’s a fab cook and even treated us to homemade carrot cake. I’m surrounded by excellent cooks and bakers which is perfection for my tastebuds, but not so good for ol’ waistline.
