arch

Today was our last day in St Louis and everyone was quite sad to say goodbye. I didn’t see Gwyneth Grace much this weekend as she stayed close to Eliana and even slept in her hotel room with her. I had a fabulous Maeva filled weekend as her and Annabelle are inseparable as well.
I adore all my nieces and I love being able to visit with them.

We had brunch/lunch all together and then went to visit the arch. Unfortunately our flight left earlier than everyone else’s so we couldn’t join them for the ride to the top of the Arch, but it was well worth the trip and to watch the movie of how the Arch was built. If I’m not mistaken this is the same video I watched every single year on field trips when I was growing up. Oh, the St. Louis memories….

Birthday presents from the cousins

The girls at the Arch:
How sweet is this baby????

Our flight left right on time and we were all set to arrive home when we hit weather trouble. Lots and lots of weather trouble. Our flight was diverted to Colorado Springs where we waited…and waited…and waited….and then waited some more. Finally they gave us an opportunity to get off the plane and look for a ride home. At this point it was late and our closest ride option was  1 1/2 hours away. So, we tried to find a shuttle….all sold out. So, we tried to find a rental car….all sold out. So, we hopped in a cab! Our friendly cabbie took us from the airport in Colorado Springs to the airport in Denver to get our cars and we finally made it home some time around midnight. Phew!!! B’s big luncheon is tomorrow and he would not have graduated if we didn’t make it home. Nothing like cutting it close…

cardinals

Off to the Cardinals game! Happily we had a box for the game which means AC, which means I am much more bearable to be around. The girls had matching Cardinals tshirts, of course, of course. Sadly these are the best pictures I could get of them all together. Miss Gabriela was not so pleased to get her picture taken:

After a rain delay we all had a great time a the game. Annabelle, Maeva, and I even made it to the very end of the game!

gardens

We spent the morning at the Botanic gardens. Outside. In St. Louis. In June. In the heat. My God, the heat. And the humidity. I get so irritable when I’m hot. I was awful. My poor children. I had no patience. I yelled at them unnecessarily and I was all around pretty terrible to be around. Luckily they have their cousins and seemed to still have a fun day…and hopefully in the future they will just learn to avoid me when the weather reaches the 90’s. Or I could more intelligently request indoor activities in the ac.

My mom was awesome and watched the girls for us so we could head to the Bare Naked Ladies concert at Red Rocks. We went with my Uncle Ollie, Aunt Jennifer, Cousins Zoe and Jennifer’s mom. I was pretty impressed that Zoe made it through the whole show — but it was a really good one.

We had fourth row seats which were fabulous. There was a group in front of us and they were probably in their 50’s….and they were WASTED! Not fun, silly concert drunk….but swaying (not dancing), tripping, falling, ridiculous hammered. I was starting to get annoyed, but then this woman set her drink down to dance, tipped over, and sat right on a full glass of red wine. Annoyed be gone. That is funny stuff! Imagine a pair of jeans after someone sits on an entire glass of wine. Go ahead, imagine it. It’s funny.  Does that makes me a bad person? I’m sure it does, but I couldn’t stop laughing and that felt really good to my little rotten soul.

Zoe

My aunt, uncle and cousin came in from Dallas and we met at the aquarium. The girls clicked so well with my cousin, Zoe. We had lunch by the fish tanks, explored the exhibits, had pictures with the mermaids and they got tattoos.

wow

Just a quick trip to the Wow! Children’s museum before we headed to the airport to pick up YaYa. We went to plant flowers, but there was an alley cat in the garden so that was not going to happen. We spent our adventure inside and explored the new exhibits.

painting

The Butterfly Pavilion was having a big clearance sale and their painting kits were 60% off and with my member discount I got another 10% off. Too good of a deal to pass up. The girls each got a canvas and paints. The girls love all forms of crafts, but painting is their favorite.

bug hunt

Annabelle and her friend, Emma attended a day camp at the Butterfly Pavilion called the Bug Hunt. They LOVED it! They got to explore the pavilion with a tour guide and then gather bugs. Gross! Well, gross to me. These girls are bug crazy and had a blast.

We arrived a little early for camp so…..gotta hold Rosie!

dmns

We are finally home! We made it back just in time for splash day at Gwyneth’s kindergarten camp*. We are still a few weeks away from the kick off of camps so Annabelle and I headed down to the science museum for the day. We watched Big Bird’s Big Sky in the planetarium, which was probably far too young for Annabelle but she still liked it. We then explored the museum, had lunch, and then watched Flight of the Butterflies at the IMAX theater. It amazes me that we use to be able to get out of the science museum in about an hour when the girls were little. Now it’s a full day event!

Poppy the fish:
This movie was actually pretty amazing. I would recommend it for any kiddos who like bugs/butterflies.

Lookin’ good:

holding poop. really, really old poop. but poop nonetheless.

*Kindergarten camp is what Gwyneth has renamed preschool since she has technically graduated from preschool. All the kids call themselves kindergartner campers.

housewarming

Becky hosted a housewarming and graduation party. They had a great turnout and we were glad we could be there to celebrate with them.
Auntie Becky surprised the kids with a bouncy house. My girls loved it…almost as much as Madison and her friends! They bounced all day and then had a water fight. Happiness!
