happy birthday, gus

What a fabulous Dr Seuss afternoon in Boulder! I took the girls to see Seussical the Musical at the BOulder Dinner Theater. It was a local high school production and they did a great job. I love Seuss and he’s always been my favorite to read to the girls. We were joined by Auntie Chriss, Steph, Wyatt and Rhys and everyone loved the show!

Missi planned a surprise party for Gus for his 39th birthday and my drivers license is expired. I was able to go in the bar and wish him a happy birthday. I couldn’t order a drink and then at 9:30 I got kicked out. I GOT KICKED OUT OF A BAR IN THE SUBURBS!! What the what?!?! That was a first for me and I tried to explain that I had two children and was just drinking water….but apparently you don’t have to be 21 for that. Ouch! Anyway, happy birthday to Gus and when he turns 40 I’ll have a valid form of identification.

Lansing and I were the designated drivers…. What the what?!?!

swim partay

Gwyneth was able to invite a few friends to our neighborhood pool to celebrate her birthday. Unfortunately the weather was not in her favor. It was overcast, chilly, rainy and I was a bit nervous that the gathering wasn’t even going to happen.

She’s such a great spirit and never ever complained. I told her we probably wouldn’t be able to swim. She said “that’s ok”. I told her that her friends might not come because it was too rainy outside. She said “that’s ok”. I told her that we might have to sit inside and watch the Tinkerbell movie instead of playing outside. She said “that’s ok”. I told her it might just be her, me, her dad, and sister and a ton of cupcakes. She said “that’s ok”.

I didn’t want her to be disappointed but she had nothing to worry about. Her friends showed up and were so sweet. They didn’t care about swimming they just wanted to celebrate with her. We had pizza and cupcakes and they chased her around until the pool finally opened. They swam and swam and I took an endless line of kiddos down the slide.

We got home and I apologized. I told her I wished the weather would have been better and not crashed her party. Of course, she said “that’s ok”. She’s just a cool kid.

I distracted them this morning from the weather and party anticipation with a $1 movie. We saw Happy Feet 2 and although there were not princesses they do enjoy a movie that makes them get down and boogie! And really, what’s a movie adventure without a tiara???

vbs

The girls attended Vacation Bible School at our church this week. It was a carnival theme and they enjoyed learning new songs, making crafts, and bible stories. They even learned a cute little song and dance number that they will perform on Sunday.

july birthdays

We went to Bob and Carole’s for the evening to celebrate the July birthdays. Nathan and Jocelyn are still in Wisconsin with their grandparents so poor Ryan was outnumbered by all these little ladies.

The July birthdays: Bob, Gwyneth, and Jeff

happy birthday, andrew

We celebrated Andrew’s 6th birthday party at Jump City. Reagan joined us for the day and the girls were thrilled. They all ganged up against B on the dodgeball court, but B came out victorious. He knocked ’em right off their feet. They thought he was hilarious — I think the other parents thought he was a bit insane.

Andrew and Hanna are getting so big and such happy, kind kiddos. It’s wonderful watching them grow up and celebrating with them.

Happy Birthday, Andrew!
Look out kids!

He’s this many now:
How sweet is this face???

happy birthday, amy

We celebrated our dear friend Amy’s birthday this evening. We met up with friends at Bar Louie and had some rather terrible food and not so fab drinks (not me, I had truffle butter popcorn and a Miller Lite — life ain’t bad for me). We told jokes, we had laughs with out friends, and we had a really good night. Happy Birthday, Amy!

Auntie Stacy sent a package to the girls with these super cute shirts:

She also sent Annabelle mustache band-aids and Gwyneth pickles band-aids. They are awesome. Gwyneth also received a Taylor Swift cd….which she calls Taylor Swiff and in the short time since they have received it they have memorized several of the songs. They are rockin’ out and can’t get enough.

camp: doll dance

Our neighbor, Francesca joined the girls this week for dance camp. Gwyneth changed up her leotards, but Annabelle wore her recital costume every day! Today they learned to ballet dance like dolls and the show they performed was adorable. They are having a great time at dance camp which is good because I am hooked.

matchbox twenty

We took it back to 1996 for this concert. (OUCH!!!). I was joined by Jen, Sheila and Missi for the concert at Fiddler’s. Goo Goo Dolls opened and I can confirm they still suck in concert. B and I have seen them before and they are just not great. That was just a minor detail, because Matchbox Twenty was great and I had a blast. I’m not embarrassed to admit that we sang along to all the songs and had a grand time.
