numbers

It was number day at school. I’m guessing most kids wore sports shirts. That’s not a guess, I actually saw most of the kids at the bus stop wearing sports shirts. Not my ladies.

Gwyneth requested a Halloween “5”

Annabelle requested a Halloween “7”. I had to remind her that she is “6”. We argued for a really long time and we agreed to disagree and I made her a “6” shirt and she pouted and wore it anyway.

Clearly she got over it.
Photo bomb!

colors

It’s red ribbon week at school and each day the girls have something fun to wear. Today is color day: kindergarteners wear red and 1st graders wear orange. Gwyneth could not possibly be wearing more red. Red bow, red dress, red tights, red boots….this girl is taking sprit week very seriously.

They each had to write down what their super hero characteristic is and what they do to help people with that power. I would imagine most kids are writing about being kind, helpful, loving, etc. Mine wrote that she lives to play tricks on people. Annabelle loves to hide and jump out and scare people or play practical jokes. She says she does it because she likes to make people laugh and that is how she is kind. Um….ok?

Yes, this is Annabelle and me “Kelly” (not mom?) laughing. Our gifts to humanity!

Gwyneth didn’t let me take a picture of her paper, but she said her gift is “telling jokes and making people laugh”. Imagine our surprise when she got home and said she won the prize for kindergarten for best super power. Yes, it’s very important to have a good sense of humor. Yes, it’s a great skill to make people laugh. Yes, she just received a prize for being class clown. Oh crap!

While Gwyneth was at dancing school tonight, Annabelle and I hit the grocery store and I desperately needed a coffee. Clearly this girl needs some more sugar in her life too…

happy birthday, reagan

Annabelle celebrate her friend Reagan’s 7th birthday today at a gymnastics party. They are not in the same class this year — not many of Annabelle’s kindergarten friends are in her class. I really got a kick out of seeing the old crew together again.

junk

how do you celebrate a man who has graduated with culinary excellence?
well, with the exact opposite of course!

Our fabulous friends joined us for a meal of utter crap!

Everyone got in the spirit and brought truly terrible, processed, awful food to celebrate the graduate. We had a blast and B seemed really happy, but it was horrible stomach aches all around the next day!

those are some nasty pizza rolls
and some hostess fruit pies for dessert

Congratulations!!

treat street

The Conley’s joined us for the Trick or Treat Street in our neighborhood. The kids were there for candy, but the adults like to check out the decorations in the model homes. I hate when I do that. We have a beautiful house, but when I step foot in the models I get house envy. Stupid, stupid, stupid. It’s unrealistic to think my house would ever look that way because:

1.) I would never put in the time or the effort to maintain it
2.) I live with two little monsters that trash and destroy all that is clean in our home.

It’s best to collect candy bars and leave the house staging to the professionals.

We arrived with a very serious Ninja, a wacky Peacock, a perfectly accessorized Pocahontas, and a glowing Glinda. These kids are ready for Halloween!

chef

He did it!!

The girls and I watched B’s graduation from the balcony of the Boulder Theater. My pictures didn’t turn out great because of the lighting. We cheered quite loudly when they called his name. Gwyneth screamed the loudest of us all!

Accepting his diploma
Congratulations! So very proud!

shots

Oh, how I have dreaded this day!

The girls both had their annual doctor’s appointment and both needed shots. I had to take them alone because B couldn’t get away from work. They both did great on their hearing and vision tests and both are healthy and happy. Well, they were happy until they had to get shots. YIKES! What a nightmare. I had to hold both of them down (dang….these girls are strong!!!). Annabelle got one shot and Gwyneth got FOUR!

Miss Annabelle is still a bit of a shorty. She’s on the small side but to be expected. She shouldn’t expect to stand in the back row for pictures any time soon.

Gwyneth is a giant!! Miraculously she is measuring in the 98th percentile for height. The doctor found this hilarious — naturally because she’s met B and I. She said to expect her to be about 5’9″ or 5’10”. What the heck????  I can’t wait to see this child towering over me….and with heels, she’ll easily be looking down at her dad too.

Poor Gwyneth has about 2% body fat so there was no cushion for her shots. She was in a lot of pain. She wobbled around and spent the rest of her day on the couch with her leg propped up. She may have been milking it a little bit but she really was sore.

daisy halloween

Annabelle’s girl scout troop organized their own Halloween party. The girls picked out their own treats, made their own games, and created their own invitations. They are quite the party planners.

Each of the girls had to bring 6 treats to share with their troop. Annabelle picked Ursula jelly beans so she had to dress as Ariel for the party. She is Glinda for Halloween but the girl sure does like a theme.

I assure you she poses herself.
She really does enjoy a good pose for a photo
Her troop: Morgan, Annabelle, Ava, Selma, and Katie (Maddie arrived as I was running out the door with Gwyneth)

spelling

A friend told me about a great app for helping with spelling words. Annabelle has a spelling test weekly and there’s an app that we enter the words and she can take the test over and over and over. It keeps track of her scores and progress and I don’t have to read the words to her over and over and over. It is wonderful. Perhaps lazy parenting, but she’s gotten 100% on all her spelling tests so we’re sticking with it!

Gwyneth has entered the kindergarten phase which I like to call “Writing on everything’. I find her doodles and spelling everywhere. It’s nice when it’s on paper and when she makes me little books. Its not so great when I find it on storage boxes, behind the couch, on actual books and on the seats on my car.

Miss Hollywood stole my new sunglasses:

bachelorette

After some interesting planning adventures, I joined a group of ladies in Breckenridge to celebrate our dear friend Amy’s bachelorette weekend. We adore Amy and Tom individually and as a couple and are very excited for their wedding!

The weekend started off with a bang with a bottle of champagne toasting the bride to be. The bottle literally opened itself due to the altitude change. That’s a pretty good sign it is time to party. We had lots of fried food and beer at Eric’s and then ended the evening with dancing and music at the Gold Pan.

We spent Saturday enjoying more fried food and more beer and watching college football. Our weekend kinda sounds like a bachelor party! We are not delicate flowers and can hang with the best of ’em.

We ended the weekend with dinner at Modis and a few more cocktails. It was wonderful to get away and to have the time with this lovely group of ladies. I’m so glad we could celebrate Amy. She’s a great friend and I couldn’t be more excited for her big day.

My bachelorette gift to Amy. I’m having lots of fun making jewelry.

Lisa and Misti in Breck

How we like to spend a Saturday!
That dark brew is a pumpkin ale and Lisa introduced me to the beauty of a “red back beer” which is a coors light and a chaser of bloody mary mix. This sounded absolutely disgusting to me, but have a sip….it was pretty spicy goodness.
The whole crew: Jenn, Lisa, Lori (Amy’s mom – so cool, rocked the weekend with us!), Suzy, Amy, me, and Misti
