halloween

Remember when Halloween was just one day? You wore your costume to school, had a little school party, came home, rushed through dinner so you could hit the pavement, trick or treated in a plastic costume with a plastic mask (that always seemed to break and then you were just a kid in a big winter coat asking for candy), came home and traded candy with your siblings, and then desperately tried to go to bed filled with sugar and a little bit of fear from the big kids’ spooky costumes.

Now Halloween is a month long fiesta. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy doing fun things with my girls, but Halloween is not my favorite holiday and I certainly don’t need it to last a month. Finally….FINALLY Halloween arrived and the girls got all dolled up and went out for treats. We had our traditional chili dinner and Missi, Amy, Tom, Bella and Brayden joined us for trick or treating.

It was a cold night and I was shocked the girls stayed out as long as they did. They came home with some good loot!

launch

B and I both volunteered at the school today for the pumpkin launch. It’s a fun little experiement with sling shots, tiny pumpkins, lots of laugher and some goopy pumpkin smashed mess. We were able to help with both kindergarten and 1st grade so we got to play with both girls and their friends.

spooky hip hop

The girls are in the same hip hop dance class and I’m sure you must be thinking “WHY??? Why, why, why? Why would you do that to a poor teacher?”. That’s what I thought too, but they both take this class very seriously and pay attention and behave and don’t fight and it’s only one drop off and pick up for me on Wednesdays.

By the time Wednesday rolls around B has already worked at least 40 + hours and these children have worn me out. I think they can see that they have worn me down and start to take pity on me. Thank you hip hop!

moms night

Kristen invited the girls and I over for an early release day play date. I always have such a nice time catching up with her – we can talk for hours. The girls play so sweetly together the time just flies by. We always have to leave far sooner than I’d like, but we are grateful for the fun.
I took some cupcakes to say thanks for “letting us over-run your house and entertaining us”. Hopefully they were good. 😉

Of course, I had to make some extras for the family. And for Gus because Missi was coming over for game night and I didn’t want her to go home empty handed.

It was my turn to host MOMS night in and we played Halloween Charades. Since I made up the clues I couldn’t really participate in the guessing which is horrific because I’m really competitive and I really loved playing games. It was a hit and it was quite entertaining watching people act out some very terrifying movies and people (Miley Cyrus. AHHHH!).

words

My girls bicker like crazy. As you would expect from sisters. As you would definitely expect from two sisters that are a mere year apart and spend a lot of time together and have a lot of the same friends and are in the same activities.

Every now and then they surprise me and they are really sweet and kind to each other. Today I walked in and Annabelle was helping Gwyneth with her sight words. Just sitting at the kitchen table helping her little sister learn how to read.

snow white

Tonight was Gwyneth’s big night for her Halloween party at dancing school. In an odd turn of events she decided not to wear the peacock costume and opted for her Snow White costume. Thank goodness we have a closet full of dress up just for these parties!

She does make a cute little Snow White

She did her dance to the “witch doctor” song.
She stood next to her friend Paige and they were right in sync and shall I say fabulous!

So, I try not to complain about it, but B’s hours do suck. We knew it going in and we’ve braced ourselves for it, but we do miss having him around for dinner. Despite his absence there are some serious benefits to being married to a Chef. He left us homemade sausage and spinach calzones to heat up for dinner tonight. Yeah, he’s pretty good to us.

Annabelle joined our friends the Johnsons at church to watch Emma and Rosie’s primary program. These are some amazing girls! Rosie who is 4 did a two minute monolog and Emma sang a song….wait for it….in Russian!!! Wow!! We couldn’t go as a family because B was out of town and Gwyneth had a play date planned but the Johnsons were so kind to include Annabelle in their day. She loved the independence and she was amazed at Emma’s Russian. Very, very cool.

Gwyneth’s friend Ruby joined her at our house for  a play date. They are buddies from school and are two peas in a pod. They have so much energy and played really well together. My dear little Gwyneth does not just sit and play tea party like some little ladies. She’s a wild woman! She likes to run and jump and wrestle and scream and then repeat over and over and over again. Ruby is on her same wave length! Glad she has found such a sweet little friend.

girls

B took off with the guys for a trip to the mountains to celebrate Tom’s bachelor party. They did the zip line and had a night in Blackhawk. It sounds like they had an absolute blast. It was just me and the girls at home and we decided to surprise B with a clean house when he got home. This is actually a really big deal if you know my husband.

To give them a bit more energy I took them to Mooyah for lunch. YUM! We had never been and they have a great turkey burger and the girls really seemed to like their milkshakes.

I don’t really enjoy cleaning or straightening up…let’s be honest, I’m a pretty big slob. We joined together and cleaned the entire house top to bottom for B. The girls have decided they both really like vacuuming….more power to them!

Gwyneth and I agree that all household chores are more lovely when you are wearing a tutu.

Amy, Grammy Lori and Bella joined us that night for some take out food and a little girls night. The little ladies put on a fabulous fashion show for us while we talked wedding plans. It’s less than two weeks until the wedding…can’t wait! It’s going to be a great party.

Annabelle lost another tooth tonight. This girl is keeping the tooth fairy very busy!

thriller

Annabelle has two dance classes on Thursday and that means two Halloween performances. Unfortunately B had a catering even so he couldn’t join us tonight. I know he was sad to miss it.

Annabelle’s 1st class is a combo class of tap, ballet, and jazz.

She can’t dance very well in her Glinda costume so she decided to wear her recital costume from last year.

This would be here “One eye, one horn, giant purple people eater”. She was cracking me up!

my girl can not be bothered with scary faces.
what the what??? what? what? what? my girls are being sweet to each other. Oh my heavens — check the skies for flying pigs!

We had a 40 minute break before shows so Gwyneth and I decided to grab an appetizer at the Mexican restaurant next door and work on her writing. Sometimes its nice to just hang out and not be the chauffer.

Back again for Annabelle’s 2nd performance. Her next class is advanced ballet and they did an amazing ballet routine to Thriller. I know it probably sounds crazy, but the choreography was very cool. Cute stuff!

Great job, Annabelle! You’re quite the little dancer and let me tell ya, you got sass!

halloween party

My MOMS Club threw a Halloween Party at the park and we had a great turnout. So many stinkin’ cute kids and so many great costumes. The girls dressed up in their costumes and ate lots of treats and played like crazy on the playground with their friends.

It’s amazing what some moms can do with a sharpie and a cutie. Love it!

Gwyneth and Maddyn got right in the food. Love these girls. I made those little cupcakes with the pumpkins and they went fast. Phew!

Absolutely no cuter peacock EVER!
I didn’t get all the kids, but I got quite a few! There may have been promises of cupcakes…

Annabelle is so sweet with the little girls. Babies and little ones love her. She’s a big helper!
