100 days of kindergarten

Gwyneth’s class celebrated their 100th day of kindergarten. She has been eagerly awaiting her collage of pictures since I made one for Annabelle last year. She LOVED it! She was eager to take it to school and show her friends, but equally excited to bring it home and hang it in her room.

The school year is more than half over which is exciting but troubling. I just got my head around the fact that my little Gwyneth is in kindergarten. I can hardly imagine she’s well on her way to first grade. Yep, that was another grey hair….

sofia the first

The girls received tickets for Christmas to see Disney Jr Live. They still both like Sofia the 1st which was the first act. The second act was Jake and the Neverland Pirates which we had never seen, but they enjoyed it.

Gwyneth was still eager to get up and dance along with the show. She sang, she danced, she clapped, she screamed, she had a good ol’ time. Annabelle was a bit too “cool” for all that. She ate her snow cone, smiled and laughed at her little sister (in a fun way, not being mean) but she was definitely to old to play along with the show. I knew this day was coming, but these milestones manage to surprise me nonetheless.

play dates all around

Annabelle’s teacher sent this picture today:

The kids did a project with mittens; Annabelle is in the center. They were all decked out for the snow and Super Bowl. Super Cute!

Annabelle’s friend Sofia joined her for a play date this evening. She came over after school and stayed through pizza and dessert. This girls have been best buddies since kindergarten and I’m so glad we could get them together. They were so kind and fun together and neither one of them was ready for the play date to end. Next time they want a sleepover.

Gwyneth spent her evening with her buddy, Ruby. She joined Ruby’s family for pizza at Lucky Pies and then ice cream afterwards at Sweet Moo. She was so excited to go and had a blast. Both girls had a very fun night!

zoo parent

The girls received their Valentine gifts from my dad this evening. He keeps the animals fed and cared for at the St. Louis zoo. Annabelle is now the proud parent of seven animals and Gwyneth is the proud parent of six animals. Between all the grandkids I’m guessing there will be a wing of the zoo named after Poppy soon!

The girls love this gift and look forward to finding out which animal they are adopting each year. This year its a monkey; which Gwyneth loved. Of course. She now has “fat monkey”, “medium monkey”, “big monkey” and has now added “shaggy monkey”. She may be a bit monkey crazy.

self defense

We had homemade pizza for dinner and B taught Annabelle how to make pizza dough.

B helped Annabelle do her math homework tonight as well. Clever! Let’s hope her teacher is a Bronco fan.

Gwyneth’s Daisy troop earned their self defense badges tonight. Through the giggling the girls learned what to do when confronted with “Stranger Danger”. They were informed that these moves are only to be used for self defense and should not be used on their siblings. Gwyneth has selective hearing so Annabelle may want to watch her back.

When Gwyneth was getting read for bed tonight she thanked me for everything we did today and for being her troop leader. It was so kind and it really made my day. I’m so glad to know that she is having fun. This is probably the time to ask for a very big gift because she has me quite buttered up.

cookies

Today is cookie day!!!

I’ve never been on this side of the girl scout cookie sales and let me say, it’s CRAZY!!! We ran over and picked up the cookies for Gwyneth’s troop. ONE THOUSAND BOXES. Seriously, one thousand boxes. Bella, Gwyneth and Annabelle helped me sort boxes and we are ready for cookie season.

After cookies were sorted the girls played dress up and “spa”. They gave each other hand and foot massages. It’s not easing been these little ladies.

cookie rally

Gwyneth’s troop attended a cookie rally this evening to learn to sell cookies. They are eager and willing to peddle those cookies so be on the look out. They learned about the different types of cookies, how to open a sale, how to close a sale and how to make change. They also got to sample all the cookies so they were quite pleased.

happy birthday, emma

We met Poppy and Melissa at the Four Seasons for breakfast before they caught their flight home. It was just a 20 minute walk from Stacy’s house, but we decided to take bikes and scooters so it was closer to 40 minutes. We all arrived in one piece and hungry and nothing/no one was broken.
That afternoon we went to see Chinese acrobats. It was a great show and we really enjoyed it. Gwyneth may have fallen asleep for a bit and Annabelle and Maeve got some new frightening ideas for tricks to practice at home.
After dinner we had a birthday party for Maeva’s American Girl Doll, Emma. This was very “un-Stacy” to me and I am now terrified that my daughters are going to be asking for birthday parties for their baby dolls. The girls had a blast singing to Emma and eating cupcakes.

alcatraz

We spent Saturday in San Francisco. We hopped on a cable car and Annabelle even held on to the pole and stood on the side. It made me insanely nervous, but she loved it!

After lunch we hopped on the ferry for a tour of Alcatraz.
Annabelle, Maeva, and Eliana loved the tour. They used their headphones and followed along and were very proactive about staying on point. They really got a lot out of it and were amazed at the prison.
Gwyneth was not a fan of The Rock. She was terrified!!! She has a serious fear of jail, which I can’t say disappoints me.

san fran

I picked the girls up a bit early from school and off we headed to San Francisco to visit my sister Stacy and her family. They were so, so excited to see their cousins. My dad and Melissa joined us for the weekend too.

Tonight Stacy got a babysitter and the girls had a relaxing night at home while we went out to celebrate Carl’s 40th birthday. We dined at a delicious restaurant and enjoyed several bottles of wine. It was a long meal and we didn’t get home until after 1:00…which was a little rough given the time change, but lets be honest, I’m a rock star.
